One major benefit of being a non-profit organization is that you are exempt from taxes. Although, in the state of Louisiana they do require that non-profits pay sales tax on any purchases that are made within the state (Louisiana, 2014). The Golden Wave Clinic has recently been certified to be eco-friendly. We are Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified, which means that we save energy, water, and resources and generate less waste (LEED, 2018). In order to cut cost, we have a lot of volunteer positions available for those who are eager to donate their time and help out to decrease the rate of STD in Baton Rouge. If we did not have flood insurance and something happened we would be liable for at least half of the cost. We would more than likely have to shut down our facility because we just wouldn’t have the funds. To prevent any damages we have made sure that we have purchased flood insurance. Our annual policy costs $700 a year, and it is through The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), The NFIP is the most affordable flood insurance especially for business owners (FEMA, 2017). Even though our business is located in a moderately low risk area, we still have to make sure that we are protected no matter what. In order to make sure that there is no malpractice, we are going to make sure that all of our staff is properly trained to work with this disease and knows exactly what they are doing to make sure that something like this does not happen. As there is no way for The Golden Wave Clinic to avoid and regulations that the government is going to change we can prevent It. As an organization we will need to make sure that we save enough money up every year for if an issue like this occurs. Although we will have always have competition one benefit of our clinic is that there is no charge to get tested. If you do get tested and need medications you can receive them at a lower price at CVS compared to the University where you would have to pay for the visit and the medication. Currently we are very fortunate to have a great flood insurance rate, if the cost of that increases due to a hurricane or flood we would also need to make sure that we had extra money in our savings in case any of these events happened to us. Our organization plans to have about 50,000 saved up in

The Non-profit hospitals were established for charitable purposes and tend to be larger, and are more likely to be teaching hospitals. They also are responsible and accountable to the communities they serve. They are governed by leaders of the communities they serve. My first step of this project was creating flyers that I hung up in the park near my house and passed out to my neighbors. I also texted family and friends to see if they were interested in donating. All advertisement/donations
The floodwaters of Hurricane Katrina marooned Memorial Medical Center in Uptown New Orleans [1]. Disaster struck leaving patients helpless, and doctors and nurses with confusion and stress. The article “Deadly Choices at Memorial” by Sheri Fink describes, in just the right amount of detail, the crisis that MMC faced because of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Although the article was able to state a few good things that were done by medics at the hospital, it mostly showed all of the flaws that exist in the medical system. This causing us to face reality and face our problems head on.

With Hurricane Katrina, there were major issues that the healthcare infrastructure had to face. One major issue that was created by the hurricane was extensive flooding. The flooding contaminated the region’s drinking water and sanitation system, making it hard for citizens to find adequate drinking water. Flooding also increased the spread of communicable diseases such as HIV (Taylor, 2007). The hurricane completely destroyed buildings including hospitals and other health facilities. This impacted the patients that were already admitted into these hospitals, as well as, those in need of medical attention after the hurricane. It was nearly impossible to treat patients because medical
