Good To Great Leadership Model Analysis

Indra Nooyi’s success story serves as an inspiration for many people including myself. She led an organization successfully and without sacrificing who she are culturally. It’s not a simple task and yet she faces different challenges every day. She also said that leadership is hard to define and good leadership even harder. But if you can get people to follow you to the ends of the earth, you are a great leader.

Nurses serve as an advocate for the advancement of the profession of nursing, whether the novice nurse or the advanced practice nurse. Sommerfeldt (2013) found that novice nurses when asked to describe nursing, responded with “care for clients” to be a common answer. This vague answer excludes the professional contribution of nurses and the roles advance practice nurses performs in team health care. The focus of this paper will address the barriers for autonomous advanced nursing practice and the use of interactive leadership style to advocate for legislative changes and promote the entry level degree Consensus Model (2010) for advanced practice nurses.

As the current Vice President of Sales and Operations at Best-One (Tire) Retreading in South Bend, Wes Yoder is actively engaged in a traditional leadership position on a daily basis. He holds a degree in accounting and is used to analyzing business operations and fine tuning them for efficiency, focusing on the details. While this detail-oriented streak is certainly needed for his current position, the Yoder is also asked to work quite heavily in with the people around him, not just the processes they carry out. He interacts with customers, suppliers, and is also involved in the hiring process at Best-One.

In this essay I will explain how the Full-Range Leadership Model (FRLM) concepts apply to the safety situation on XYZ Air Base. I will tell how I would apply these concepts to conduct team-building within the Safety office and across the base to address the serious safety problems. Lastly, I will formulate an action plan for the Wing Commander, so she can more effectively combat the alarming trends on base.

The US Army has a Leadership Requirements Model to describe the make-up of an Army leader. It defines the attributes a leader should possess and the competencies the individual should perform. All of the model’s attributes and competencies holistically contribute to the leader’s success. It is important for me to master these concepts and improve upon the areas I am weak in. A sub-element of the “Achieves” competency - giving feedback - is a weakness of mine. I will improve my ability to give feedback during my study at the Command and General Staff Officer’s Course (CGSOC) this year because it increases my effectiveness as a leader, develops others, and contributes to the success of strategic Army objectives.

I previously answered this question as being transformed into the leader Christ wills or transformed according to the Holy Spirit that fills you. However following the module my thoughts have changed to Transformational Leadership Theory is a leader that attends to each follower's needs. The leader acts as a mentor or coach to the follower and listens to the follower's concerns. In addition, the leader is focused on the motives of the followers and work at helping the follower to reach their potential within the church (or organization). Presented in the module (according to Bernard Bass) four distinct factors involved in the transformational leader. This includes: Idealized Influence, is a leader who displays a strong role model for followers;

The Full Range Leadership (FRL) model is probably the most researched and validated leadership models in use worldwide today (Kirkbride, 2006 p. 23). The transformational styles described are strongly connected to success in leaders. This model produces a mix of 360-degree feedback, workshops and one-on-one coaching sessions. Kirkbride (2006) goes on to say the development of transformational leaders have led to intellectual stimulations, inspiring motivation and idealized influence.

The person I am identifying as the well-known, real world business leader who encompasses the same leadership philosophy or style as myself is Indra Nooyi. She is a very determined head strong person. We have one similar path in our business world career. She helped upper management in one of her many jobs make important business decisions that affect the day to day operations. I, as a former Quality Control Inspector, would help make policy and procedure decisions. These decisions were designed to reduce errors and defects which led to more money being kept on the contract and bigger bonuses for everyone. The Full-Range Leadership Model (FRLM) describes several approaches to leadership behavior, ranging from passive or non-leadership (laissez-faire) to transactional and transformational leadership theories. This paper analyzes how the FRLM concepts apply to an existing safety concern and demonstrates how these concepts will be employed to conduct team building across the wing to address the traffic-accident trend. Additionally, this paper will identify the additional information that is needed to address this issue. Lastly, goals and measurements will be suggested in order to reverse the situation.

Fatimah is a 30-year-old woman who owns and manages her own fashion brand label and design company. She started her business 2005. In addition to managing her business, Fatimah is the mother of three adorable kids, ages 5, 7, and 9. In her fashion company, she heads a team of 26 employees ranging from tailors, salesperson, drivers, and secretaries. Indra believes in competence. Unless you are an expert in your chosen field, you will get nowhere. You will be known only if you become an expert.  In anything, take a decision weighing everything for and against it. Once you have decided, never waver from it. You should send out the message that you are courageous and confident enough to say what is believed to be right by you.
