Good Versus Evil

In the novel Dracula by Bram stoker there's two sides in the story which are Good versus Evil and they are always fighting each other for dominance. There are good characters in the novel, Bad characters in the novel, and also neutral characters that are good in the novel but then also become bad. The theme of good versus evil also takes on a religious tone with the two forces, which are the brave good men who try to fight Dracula who is considered as Satan. In this essay I will talk about which characters are good, bad, and neutral, and also how the Christian beliefs conflict with the story.

They have a huge impact in the story. Renfield is the first neutral Character in the story. He is a lunatic and mad man in Dr. Seward’s asylum. Renfield his obsessed with Dracula and is the reason Dracula is able to enter the asylum so he can suck Mina’s blood. He also likes to eat living creatures like flies, spiders, and birds. What makes him good? Renfield does have a good side to him, he is very protective over Mina and offers to sacrifice himself to Dracula instead of Mina. Lucy also becomes one of the Characters that are Neutral in the story. She is just an innocent person until she shows signs and symptoms of turning into a vampire. When she dies her innocent reputation dies and she becomes a vampire. She takes children throughout a part of the story and feast off of there blood. Mina is the final character in the novel that is considered to be a neutral type of person. She is a “bad” character because she inadvertently assists Dracula because she becomes one of Dracula’s victims. This makes Dracula able to read her mind and figure out all the information that she knows about the hunt for him. She does Becomes a useful person to the hunt though because of her connection with Dracula. She maintains virtue despite impending transformation.
