Everyone experiences the demands of their inner monsters but the one who suppresses the demands of the evil, shapes himself with a heroic figure. Beowulf, an epic poem encircles the inner conflicts encountered by the warriors due to the hindrance of monsters, in the way of attaining treasure. Moreover, the epic also depicts warrior's triumph and attainment of fame, by defeating the physical monsters as well as by overcoming his inner monsters. The valiant warrior, Beowulf attained victory against the three monsters - Grendel, Grendel’s mother and the dragon. His success reflects the accomplishment of bravery, strength, loyalty, generosity and fame, the five significant values of the Anglo-Saxons. When Beowulf came back to Geatland, he gave all the treasures he earned to his king Higlac and asked him to distribute it among his people, exhibiting generosity. Few days later, in his old age and state of weakness, Beowulf had to face the dragon, another evil figure. The dragon was more powerful and stronger than other monsters Beowulf had encountered in the past. This was evident when the dragon began to destroy the city by “vomiting fire and smoke” (Raffel 2312). His anger ignited when the runaway slave stole his goblet. When the slave accidently took shelter under the dragon’s cave, located underground, he stole the goblet with a positive intent of pleasing his master. However, this event enraged the dragon and erupted more greed towards his own treasures. He started becoming insecure and more possessive about his treasures and began to destroy the city. Thereafter, Beowulf came in and fought against the dragon with the motive of gaining fame and immortality, along with suppressing the feelings of his personal
