Good Will Hunting, produced by Gus Van Sant, was released in 1997. In the movie, Will Hunting is a genius who can memorize everything that he reads and solve the theories that no one can solve. Although he has a genius level IQ, Will rather chooses to work as a janitor at MIT and hang out with his childhood friends from Southie. One day, Gerald Lambeau, math professor at MIT, puts his math theories on a board on the hallway. Few days later, he realizes that Will, a janitor, not his students, is the one who solved his math problems. Meanwhile, Will goes to jail because he commits violence towards police men. However, Lambeau, who recognizes that Will is a genius, suggests Will that if he works with him on math every week and gets therapy, he will help him stay out of prison. Will accepts his suggestion, however, he keeps making troubles with therapists . For the last, Lambeau asks Sean for help. As expected, Will creates a conflict with Sean as he insult Sean’s dead wife who Sean really loved and still loves. Nevertheless, Sean tries to help Will recover from his emotional scar and figure out what he really wants for his life. …show more content…

In Good Will Hunting, Will had been abused by his dad in his childhood. For the reason, he seems like he has an antagonism towards the men nearing his dad’s age. To give an example, the people, whom Will makes troubles with, are mostly middle-aged men. In addition, the relationship between Will and Skylar, whom Will falls in love with, is pathetic. Will tries to keep hiding the fact that he is an orphan because he fears that Skylar will leave when she knows the truth. For the reason, Will lies to Skylar that he has 12 brothers to pretend he grew up in a peaceful family.
