Good morning. I am a representative of the Democratic Alliance, which is better known as the DA. My name is Jayde Bromwich, and I will express some reasons why you, as responsible and informed citizens should support our party.
Throughout the years, since Democracy, people have been overwhelmed and bombarded by propaganda as well as false promises. I’m sure all of you sitting here have been promised something. Perhaps a better future or free housing for all if you vote for that particular political party. We decided in order for you to understand our party and our manifesto, that we should focus on what we have done in the region we govern and then you may decide for yourselves what we promise and what the outcome will be by supporting

I’d like to say that if you vote for us that everything will change, but; perhaps it will. We’ll speed up delivery of housing and services, make communities safer by training policemen, fight gangsterism and substance abuse in all communities, dedicate R10 million to speed up land reform and ensure local farmers are educated and well equipped to put their land to use, break up inefficient state monopolies, improve black economic empowerment, try eradicate poverty and close the gap between the rich and the poor. Yes, that what we’d LIKE to do… But without your vote it cannot happen. The future of our country is in your hands, and always will be.
To those of you who do not support our party and feel that by supporting the current government, it will ensure that our country never returns to the dark days of inequality and ignorance. We want you to know that we played our part in opposing apartheid. On election day voters like you have an opportunity to put South Africa back on track towards realising the dream of 1994.
We like to think of the province we govern as our family, nurturing it. Hoping for a brighter future and we work our hardest to keep it safe and from harm. We want to expand our reach, extend our family. Do for you, what we have done in our
Today for most Australian’s the potential of what a vote can represent is lost in political apathy and some could argue that this directly relates to how the leaders of the two main political parties continually compete for the populist vote. This environment is dominated by the media portrayal of our political parties and as a result of this, policies for the long term interests of the country have become secondary to short term wins (Marsh, 2010).
One final argument for direct democracy in the UK is that it increases the people’s political participation and engagement in current issues. When people are given the opportunity to have their say, they are more likely to get involved in the process, thus increasing the accuracy of the judgement. A successful and fully functional democracy relies on the involvement of the general public and the people it will be directly
United Nations members, and fellow concerned citizens, the world must discuss with the consequences of the initiation of apartheid. Apartheid, the separation of races completely, has become a horrible era in South African history, and has killed many innocent victims. However, the blacks of South Africa brought death upon themselves. Therefore, please pledge your support to the whites of South Africa in an attempt to save as many lives as possible in as short a time as we have. One must acknowledge that
The fact that, in the United Kingdom, we have multiple political parties, with a variety of view points and policies, is exemplary of the fact that political parties enhance democracy. The existence of various political parties gives the public voting options, and provides them with a choice of who governs their country, which is arguably a democratic approach, and encourages public participation. The idea that the public are not only voting for the party and its leaders, but also its policies show that they have an influence in how the country is run. For example the Conservative party (under David Cameron) believes in traditional institutions and values, protecting the rights and interests of property owners, and support the idea that the wealthy do have a responsibility to improve the conditions of the disadvantaged. However modern Labour (under Ed Miliband), emphasises that education is the main driver of social justice and social mobility, agrees that there should generally greater stress on environmental protection, and the party now favors more active state
In our system of government we are privileged with the option to take part in the political process that runs the country. It is our right to vote that lets the people influence change in policy and set the guidelines that politicians must follow to be elected representatives. This precious ability, which is most coveted in most non-democratic countries, is taken for granted in our own.
Government has been a paramount piece of the United States’s development after July 4, 1776. The role of government has been pivotal to the process of how America operates today. Government is an important part of America’s society because it protects individual rights of people. Government is a forever changing entity because it is a necessity to satisfy the people’s demands. As a political party, Democrats and Republicans have many views on different topics in America. Although the Democrats and Republicans may have different stances on modern issues in America, many of these politicians seem to have the same attitude toward changing policies on these issues/government. I believe that the democratic party is more appropriate party to represent the United States because of their philosophy. The traditional values of America needs to be altered and the democratic party represents the change that America needs. The democratic party best represents an ever-changing society by exemplifying the desires of the citizens as is apparent in their policies in regards to abortion, gun control, and same-sex marriage.
Moreover, my platform for the campaign was to improve the quality of education and provide affordable costs to students. Besides this, I focused on the roads of Texas and their status. The roads are not good enough and are undergoing construction. I am standing on those issues and on reducing the tolls. My platform also considered the advancement in public health. I focused on improving the health services of the people. My agenda is particularly on providing easily accessible medicines and services to the public so that they can be benefitted. ‘Health is wealth’ is my propaganda. Since, my platform is focused on such issues and my agenda have positive impact on the education, health, and transportation, my placement on these committees is justified. It serves my district’s needs. We have less health services and people cannot afford those facilities. Expenses are higher for people. Improving the
I chose the Democratic National Committee, or DNC, as the political party organization that I want to study. I selected the Democratic National Committee because it sets the core values of the Democratic Party and Democrats in the United States. Political parties, such as the Democratic Party, are a vital way of representing concerns of the public as well as an outlet for voters to express their values and competencies (Stonecash, p. 83 & 84). Therefore, the Democratic National Committee is responsible for creating an agenda and selecting candidates that will uphold the party’s policies. Although committees are important at both the state and local level, the national level is where noteworthy and lasting changes are made for the
With the recent provincial election victory of the Parti Québécois, the nation of Canada will encounter many upcoming challenges in a fierce battle that will ensue, sparked by the Parti Québécois, in an attempt to achieve a sovereign Quebec. These challenges will require immediate and effective action on issues regarding the Parti Québécois’ platform centering on the objective of achieving a sovereign Quebec. Canadian national unity is at risk and being challenged with the election of the Parti Québécois and through the separatist movement gaining strength within Quebec. The election of the Parti Québécois is an indisputable reality that demonstrates the emergence of the separatist movement progressing and gaining sway in Quebec. This poses an extremely dangerous threat to the nation of Canada, as national unity is at the forefront of present day Canadian issues and being pushed to the breaking point. The separation movement in Quebec is reaching drastic heights that have not been witnessed before throughout the history of Canada and I urge you, Mr. Pierre Elliott Trudeau, to act immediately via taking a number of suggested actions that will result in the satisfaction of the residents of Quebec. It is crucial to take immediate action to please the Parti Québécois and citizens of Quebec simultaneously to ensure a unified Canada and in order to impede the separatist movement.
The purpose of this essay will be to determine whether New social movements or New politics parties are more effective with bringing about change with a focus on green politics. I will look at the structures of a political system that enables Green political parties to gain representation. Often Green political parties start from grassroots social movements, which can make it difficult to separate the influence that they have on policy change from the movement. Traditionally New political parties, with the exception of Green and new religious parties (Boyeller, 2014), struggle to gain and retain some control in government due to the resilience of traditional parties (Siavelis 2006). This occurs due to New political parties being largely based on only a few issues (Siavelis, 2006), which then becomes irrelevant when the issue is absorbed by the traditional party.
“The United Nations and the OECD agree — the true measure of a country’s progress must include the wellbeing of its citizens.” (Univeristy of Waterloo). Taking this quote into consideration, the joint use of the Canadian Index of Wellbeing and the Gross Domestic Product should and would give a fairly accurate measure of wellbeing for a country as a whole, and the wellbeing of the individual citizens. A country’s overall wellbeing is not strictly based off of our economic wellbeing, in fact the wellbeing of your nation depends on the people who create that nation. In this essay I intend to argue that the Canadian Index of Wellbeing and Gross Domestic Product are best used together, then separate when trying to measure the overall wellbeing of a country. A large part of the success comes from the citizens and their engagement with their environment and society. One of the most important factors in measuring wellbeing is to look at democratic engagement. People need to be active and interested in the politics of their nation. If you have a majority of people who do not understand politics or are lack of interest, we end up see with fewer voters coming out during elections and a general disconnect with the political parties and leaders. It’s vital that all people who are eligible voters are taking an interest. With the upcoming election on October 19 2015, we as a nation need to be informed and educated so we can make the best possible choices for our ridings,
South Africa endured one of the worst colonialisation any country could have went through, whereby the Apartheid regime objectively disregarded the economic participation of the black over to those of the white population. However, the new democratic government would thereby be challenged with effectively having to deal with the challenges in which the past government had left behind. Therefore, in effectively trying to deal with the issues, alternative approaches have to be implemented in order to deliver on the challenges of the public. On the contrary, this essay will critically compare and discuss the liberal and free market, as well as the state interventionist approach as alternative solutions in dealing with current issues of social security, the health and school systems. Which would be able to transform current developmental challenges facing South Africa. In summary, the essay will thereby state which approach can transform South Africa in effectively dealing with developmental challenges currently facing South Africa.
To truly understand one’s perspective of politics one must see what someone has already seen and hear what someone has already heard, in which they must be the same. Throughout my my life I have heard and seen many things and formed a deeper understanding of certain topics based on these experiences. With my experiences, I began to further my understanding of what I have seen and learned. Through this I found my politics, my ideals, my beliefs, and the very wings which let me soar beyond my experiences in search of understanding more. These experiences have led me to what I believe to be the role of the government and the economy, and is why I have chosen to be an independent in elections.
With the long-awaited political and constitutional changes taking place in South Africa a different societal structure has been established and a new democratic value system formally and officially embraced. It would, however, be naive to imagine that policy changes would change deeply-rooted attitudes, practices and existing structures overnight - the change into a democratic society does unfortunately not mean that a political, social and educational Utopia has been created instantaneously (Venter et al, in press).
It was in 1928 that universal suffrage had been granted in the United Kingdom. Prior to that time, people fought to have the right to vote so their opinions could be voiced, yet now we have that right, voting does not seem so significant. Before deciding whether voting should be compulsory or optional, understanding what exactly is meant by the term ‘compulsory voting’ is essential. It is also important to educate the general public more about politics so they can make an informed decision if and when they do choose to vote. Finally, there should be a comparison with other countries which currently enforce compulsory voting to better understand how it would work.
