In the world today, music has become a big influence on everyone. With the power of music, each person has the ability to accomplish goals even if the music is country or rap. Most people believe that music can change a person’s mood or behavior which is true. Without music people could not control the way they act. Most music has the power to affect a person’s mood and other music can get them out of control. If music did not exist the world would be tedious. Without having music, people would not be able to motivate their moods. With the magic of music all people tend to have clear minds and better spirits. The character Mrs. Jones from the story "Thank You M'am" clearly shows the theme of helping others. For example, in the story on page two, Mrs. Jones says, "'Then it will get washed this evening,' said the large woman starting up the street, dragging the frightened boy behind her." This demonstrates the theme of being helpful to others because she wanted to help Roger even right after he tried to steal from her when she could have just left him on his own. Small-town America is commonly “made fun” of because not very many people live in small towns. Small towns are not necessarily the minority, but the small amount of tem give the power to those who live in city and suburban settings. With that being said, I believe it can be observed that small-town America is satirized in Drop Dead Gorgeous. The main plot surrounding Drop Dead Gorgeous is a pageant set in a small town of Minnesota called Mount Rose. It is mentioned many times that the pageant is the only way out for a girl in Mount Rose. This is a very typical saying for small towns that there are few ways to actually leave the town. Throughout the film, not only does it give a satire of small towns, but it also satirizes the people.
