The Gothic period, by and large set between the twelfth and fifteenth hundreds of years in Europe, was described by religious workmanship with an attention on design. The Renaissance period, which covers the Gothic period in right on time years, is for the most part considered to have spread over from the late fourteenth century to the seventeenth century, and enormously extended the degree and topic of craftsmanship. In spite of the fact that these two periods have some normal qualities, the Gothic and Renaissance periods have altogether different purposes of core interest.
Rap and classical music are two very different types of music. The difference is very noticeable in sound, and the music’s characteristics. Producers and composers of these two styles of music present themselves differently also. Almost all Rap artists write their own lyrics. Because of this most rap songs are direct and often very personal. Most rap music’s instruments are electronic, and computer generated. As for classical music, it has more of a sophisticated sound. This style of music has a strong emphasis on beauty, balance, and elegance. However, if you take your time and listen to both genres carefully you can find many similarities between the two through the use of tempo, melody, and rhythm. Both classical and rap music have history. Even though classical is mostly just instruments playing, the composers, like rap artists, write their own music and lyrics. What makes a song interesting and powerful is when it is has story to tell. Any musician that writes their own music is a form of expression that they voice to their audience and listeners.
Normally, when you think of Metallica, you think of the heavy metal sound the band is famous for. But, if you think that's the only kind of music the band members, and former band members, enjoy making, you are sorely mistaken.

Does “hip hop” belong to the younger generation only? Well to me hip hop is most likely for the younger generation because elderly people don’t understand the music nowadays. Elderly people don’t like listening to rap and hip hop because nowadays its very disgusting and disrespectful. And the younger like music it because they most likely can relate to it and bounce music is real disrespectful thats why elderly don’t listen to it.
Heavy metal listeners are often categorised as violent people and are often misunderstood, through this multi-stage research I will undercover the truth behind the stereotypes and try to understand if listeners of different music really have differences in behaviours.
Heavy metal became popular in the early 1980s with famous bands such as Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth for their epic headbangs and guitar riffs in live concerts. Although, lyrics can definitely taint heavy metal as dark. For instance, breathtaking composer, Marilyn Manson is known for horrifying the audience for having provocative outfits and different color eyes. Despite being peculiar, Manson “reached number three on the Billboard albums chart...sold 1.4 million copies from Antichrist Superstar” (McConnell 2). As scary Marilyn Manson appears on pictures, credit must be given to him because he quickly achieved fame. In fact, one of the famous songs is “The Beautiful People” which criticizes the privileged. Manson and Twain had similarities because both are known for a specific composition piece and receive critics of their works. Once again, censorship appears to cover work because heavy metal “promoted or condoned illegal drugs” (Censoring 5). A generalization is clearly made by ignorant individuals that do not give an opportunity to listen to music. Music is about expressing ideas or even protesting about injustice in society. If people want to be judgemental about Twain, heavy metal or anything that is out of the box, the realization that diversity is
In the 1980s there was a seeming uprise of various musical movements branching off from rock style music. At this time there were many who gained attention by favoring pop rock music. There were bands Like Rainbow, Uriah Heep and Judas Priest who considered themselves Metal music however they seemed to favor commercial rock music to gain popularity and stay on the radar. Many of these bands played in local areas and venues in hopes of gaining money while having fun. These bands were to stay true to metal music in hopes to make faster and more aggressive
Gothic music became an important part of the subculture which proliferated during the 1980s and 1990s and often deals with thought provoking topics, concentrating on religion, death and the issue of societal evils such as racism and war. The first Music genre defined as a separate movement from post-punk scene was Gothic Rock, due to its darker music accompanied by haunting sounds, guitars with a more apocalyptic flair, drums, lyrics about death, religion and love bands in this genre included London After Midnight, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Christian Death, Bauhaus, Rosetta Stone, Joy Division and The Cure. Joy Division an English rock band formed in 1976 and Peter Murphy, former Bauhaus frontman were two of the first bands described as being
Do you know what ‘avant-garde black metal’ defines? What about ‘symphonic gothic metal’? With so many subgenres cropping up that dictates how a band should or should not sound like within heavy metal, one of the few genres that still retains its original implication is ‘power metal’. The clue is in the title- its music that is supposed to make you feel powerful and larger than life, uplifting music that unashamedly makes you swell up in pride, don your helm and ride into glory against all odds!
In the study completed by Fiona Malpass, David Havard, Karis Benford, Ana Costescu, Angeliki Sofitiki, and Donna Taylor of the University of Westminster, results show personality outcome of heavy metal listening to be “…stronger composite preference for the heavy metal tracks was associated with higher Openness to Experience, more negative attitudes toward authority, lower self-esteem, greater need for uniqueness, and lower religiosity” (377). They also state that “In addition, men showed a significantly stronger preference for the tracks than women. These results are discussed in terms of the psychological needs that contemporary heavy metal fills for some individuals” (377). This shows that music can also effect personality differently based upon gender. Further research was completed just on women with the genre of heavy metal by Milton Becknell, Michael Firmin, Chi-En Hwang, David Fleetwood, Kristie Tate, and Gregory Schwab who are college student researchers from Cedarville University, Cedarville, OH. They state that “More recent research, however, suggests that Arnett's position is more representative of females than males (Lacourse, Claes, & Villeneuve, 2001). The general assumption is that heavy metal music listeners release or unload their pent-up frustrations into the loud and intense sounds which they
During the late 1970s and early 1980s, there was a new wave a British Heavy Metal entering the cassette and 8-track decks of people everywhere. Over in Denmark, current Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, was a hug fan of this type of music. “Heavy metal music has been a source of criticism ever since its’ birth in the late nineteen eighties” (Coss). Many people criticize this type of music because there is anger shown in the lyrics. Although the lyrics can be controversial at times, there is no evidence saying that heavy metal music causes violence. “Its’ controversial lyrics and harsh sounds have made it the target of much blame for psychological and behavioral problems in teenagers” (Coss). Parents of teenagers now and in past decades have worried about their kids listening to this kind of music. Most parents do not want their kids to listen to this kind of music; they are afraid that the music will lead to devastating effects in society. Although millions of people listen to music everyday, many people never take notice of how many genres exist throughout the world. Two genres that take popular notice in the music industry, that may be considered as “opposite sides of the coin”, the genres can easily be compared and contrasted, no matter which compare or contrast side is favored. The Broadway genre, which is notably alongside musical theatrics, or simply theatrics in general, is not only for the sophisticated population in it’s essence, but is even favored by adolescents of all ages. Due to the variety of musicals that have been created throughout the past one hundred years, there is a musical for any type of person, no matter how much or how little they favor the Broadway genre. The rap genre, however, can seem extremely different from most genres of music. Nevertheless, if a person finds an area of the rap genre that comes to their own liking, they may come to the realization that not all of it is the same, which can be true. Typically, rap, which stands for “rhythm and poetry”, has a fast paced, recurring beat, with a vocalist rhythmically speaking patterned lyrics throughout a song. In many popular songs today, rap can take up an entire song, or simply be put in a single verse in another vocalist’s performance. Although the rap genre and Broadway genre are slightly similar in terms of the music production, they are, however, significantly different in the way that they are performed, and the reasons why
