We continue with Part Two of Sydney hockey “lifer” Blair Joseph who, for the majority of his 70-odd years, has been deeply devoted to the sport.

Herb Brooks is a Minnesota icon, from wining a High school state championship all the way to coaching the Minnesota North Stars the U.S. Olympic team and everything in between. Playing high school hockey at St. Paul Johnson high and in 1955 led them to a state championship, after high school Herb went to play for the Minnesota Gophers for four years before trying our for the U.S. Olympic hockey team. Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743 in Albermarle County, Virginia. He was born in a simple four-room house in Shadwell, Virginia, what is now Monticello. His father, Peter Jefferson, was a planter who was a bright, brave, and strong man. His mother was a very gentle lady. She was boring under one of the most distinguished families in the area. His family had prospered since the first Jefferson arrived in America from Whales in 1612. Soon after Jefferson’s birth, the French and British began fighting their third war in a half of century over North America’s territory.
“Jefferson often referred to his college town as devilsburg.” When most young men where out drinking Jefferson was preferred to be in his books studying. It’s no surprise that he excelled in such subjects as calculus, Greek, Spanish, grammar, and classical literature. William and Mary granted him an honorary degree in 1782. After college Jefferson went on to study law with George Wythe. He practiced law from 1761 to 1774.
On the day of May 29, 1736 Patrick Henry was born. He was born in Studley, Virginia. Patrick Henry was born on a plantation that his family had owned. When Patrick was a young kid he had persuasive speeches, he help start the American revolution. He was the second oldest out of the nine children in his family. By the time that Henry was 15 he was responsible for working a store for his father. When the business started to fall apart Henry received his first taste of failure.
Samuel Gompers was born on January 27, 1850 in East London. Gompers was sent to a free jewish school at the age of six. The education was short lived when he started work rolling cigars at ten years old. In 1863 he and his family moved to a poor area in new york city, where Gompers took up cigar making once more.
William Morris Stewart was born on August 9, 1825 to Miranda Morris and Frederick Augustus Stewart, on a family farm in Lyons, New York. At a young age his family moved from Lyon, New York to Mesopotamia, Ohio. At age 14, he left home to attend West Farmington Academy in Ohio and Lyons Union School in New York which he earned tuition for by working a common laborer and school teacher. With help from a Lyons attorney that provided a loan to attend Yale University, he only attended three terms from 1849 to 1850. When the gold mining became big he left to Nevada City, California on an adventure to find gold. After failing to find gold, he began to study law and by 1852 was admitted to the California bar and establishing a practice. He was known as an expert in
June 25,1933 in Mississippi James Meredith was born. James went into the air force and serving for a long time. Meredith applied at Jackson college at the time. After his application was rejected twice he decided to go to National Association Advancement of Colored People,(NAACP) and its local fields secretary Medgar Evers. Arguments of racial was filed in court, but rejected States blocked him from coming to the university.
Never being able to see your friends and family seems like something unimaginable but for Morris Kent because of his own actions has to live in a nightmare for the rest of his life. Morris Kent was arrested at the age of 16 for 3 counts of robbery, 3 counts of home robberies and worst of all 2 counts of rape. Because of the severity of the crimes the prosecutor moved to try morris as an adult as the punishment would be more severe, but morris’s lawyer didn’t want to have Morris tried as an adult so he planned to argue that Morris had a “mental illness” so the case would stay in juvenile court but in the end the judges ruled against Morris and for the prosecutor. As a result Kent’s punishment was more severe at a sentence of 30 to 90 years in prison but Morris not agreeing with the decision the judges had made Morris appealed stating that the case should have stayed in juvenile court but as the judges didn’t feel the same way about the case they ruled

The NBA season is finally back and after a few games under our belts it’s time to start browsing on the waiver wire. Even though the season is young it never hurts to keep tabs on a few key players who could potentially be targeted for you lineup. One player who has quickly gained my attention is Detroit Pistons’ small forward Marcus Morris. There are a plethora of other players who warrant some attention and those are exactly the players we’ll look at right now!

Born on January 20, 1734, his birthplace was near or was Liverpool, England. When he was thirteen he emigrated from England to Chesapeake Bay to be with his father who at the time was a tobacco exporter.
