Few contemporary Americans understand how our country was founded on a radical experiment with a very limited government. The Founding Fathers wanted to create a completely new relationship between the people and their government. After the War of Independence, in exchange for the founding of a national government, the U.S. Constitution was regarded as a “masterfully designed cage” that would stop the “beast” of government from “running amok”. The Constitution protected the people from government, and protected subgroups from the dictatorships of majorities. The Constitution purposely sought after segment powers in the different branches of federal government to reorganize authority into the many states, and to prevent the federal government
