The message that Ariana Grande is trying to convey in the song Popular Song is that you don’t have to have nice things, just be nice to everyone and do things you like to do. In the song it says, “And all that you have to do, is be true to you.” This line to me means that you should do things you like to do not what others are doing and you will succeed. This line ties in to the main message because being true to you means to do things you like, which is part of the main message. “It’s not about who you are or your fancy car.” The meaning of this line to me is that the things you have doesn’t make you popular, it’s what you do. This relates to Arians message, that you don’t have to have nice things to be popular and a fancy car is a nice
To me this meant that one should be able to act nice towards others despite any preconceived notions of flaws.
The Vietnam War was an event with lasting effects. The U.S. troops participated from 1961 until 1975 where over 58,000 Americans were killed according to the U.S Department of Veteran Affairs. This war created a divide amongst the American people with so many opposed to the war because they claim that the cost of war and casualties was too high. Many believed, in addition, that the U.S. should not have involved themselves because the war did not directly affect America. For these reasons and many more, it caused a lot of traumas; not only for veterans but even regular citizens. Due to this, when U.S. involvement with the Iraq War started in 2003 (Riedel), many began drawing parallels between it and the Vietnam War and Anna Quindlen was among them.Anna Quindlen, an opinion columnist with a Pulitzer prize for commentary, wrote an article titled “We’ve Been Here Before.” Her overall goal, in this article, is to convince the reader that the Vietnam and Iraq War are alike as well as catastrophic. Her argument that the two wars are alike is erroneous in nature since there are many significant differences to be listed. Quindlen lacks reputable evidence because she lets her emotions write the article so she spews out personal attacks; there is a clear tone of anger. She accuses the president of wanting the Iraq War to only be about policy without backing this stance and she uses her friend’s statements to support her argument though he isn’t an expert on the matter. Quindlen makes a few good points in the article

The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville Tennessee started out as a small radio broadcasting station, but has since then turned into a massive variety show that people claim “made country music famous.” I visited and toured the Grand Ole Opry this past winter and was inspired to explore its history, what the small radio broadcasting station used to be like, and what made it grow into such a huge success that has attracted millions.
First, I’d like to commend all the actresses and actors on their excellent performances and voices, but, as always, there were some that stood out more than others. I thought Hannah Eckert and Joe Campbell, playing Jimmy and Billie, did and excellent job working with each other. Their duets were beautifully sung and had great synchronization, especially during the song ’S Wonderful which had them, perfectly synchronized, dancing up and down the stairs in what I believed to be a difficult dance number. Also, I’d like to comment on Tony Frenchu and Melanie Bratsch performances, who were clearly the audiences favorite, and mine, due to the amount of cheering and the standing ovation they received. Tony was perfect as cookie with his tall frame

The old man when saying, “We must strive to be like the moon” means that since no one complains about the moon and everyone likes the moon we need to strive, as people, to be more like the moon. We need to strive to be nice to everyone so that no one has anything to complain about when they are around us. This advise definitely can be applied to everyone’s life because everyone should want people to have nothing to complain about when talking about them.
This song relates to transcendentalism by expressing spiritualism by expressing how people should not be materialistic. The song tells people to open your mind to show the goodness of mankind. Being yourself is the best person that you could ever be. Cole used the lines :"no need to fix what God has his paintbrush on... " (Cole) to tell the young women of the world that God made you exactly how he wants you to be and that's beautiful. If you are beautiful in God's eyesight then it should not matter what anyone else opinion may be . Cole informs young ladies that they should take the advice from a person that actually cares about them , and the lines : " take it from a man that loves what you got .. And baby girl you're a star so don't let them to you that you're not ..."
In “Grenade” the singer Bruno Mars shows through the lyrics how he has finally come to the realization that everything he would do for his significant other including laying down his own life for her, she “would never do the same”, this same revelation is one that Nora makes as well in “A Doll’s House” by Nicholas Rudall. She realizes that the love and effort she has put in to keep Torvald from any serious problems, such as death or the tarnishing of his name , he would never reciprocate that effort and that she no longer needs him. This is all encompassed in the singular important quote where Nora states “Taking off my Costume” (page 108). This quote is major as it not only signifies how Nora is changing into another character and moving on
Therefore, Apple’s song may speak to her or reflect her personality, as she listens to the song, she could feel like they are speak about herself
According to Lady Gaga’s song, “Because baby I was born this way”, I find it astounding how Dalia Mogahed comments differently, referring to her spiritual faith as a Muslim. Mogahed states that being Muslim is a choice. I can agree as a Mexican American how many people think various opinions when they see an individual practice their faith accordingly and grasp their convictions. Despite the differences of religions, all spiritual practices receive negative thoughts and perspectives. A variety of people believe Muslims and so as for any other religion, that they are being enslaved or forced to display their faith. However, I strongly agree with Mogahed, we should join to fight the negative perceptions of faith “because baby I wasn’t born this
The singing group Sister Sledge sang it best “We are family I got all my sister with me” (1970)! This song represent the strength and importance of the family bond. Over time changes can challenge the family connection however doe it cause it to weaken? Does the family that is structure differently 1960s images contain less values.
Fitzgerald likely included this descriptive passage regarding Gatsby’s car to highlight the society’s wealth-based priorities. Moreover, by employing parallelism within the first two sentences of the quote, he highlights the value and emphasis placed on material possessions. Ava Slade built on this idea well in the class discussion, stating that “No one attended [Gatsby’s funeral] because everyone in the society was too focused on attaining wealth and belongings from him rather than forming meaningful relationships.” Her ideas emphasize Fitzgerald’s detailed descriptions by specifically highlighting how wealth was the priority for all members of society, even during a time of tragedy. Overall, the straining, wealth-driven expectations led to the downfall of many individuals within the society.
Music is a way many people express themselves. Some people can relate to music because it lets them know that someone else experiences those emotions too. In Alessia Cara’s song, Scars to Your Beautiful, she makes sure there’s a strong, powerful message that women and young girls, guys too, can relate to. I choose this song because it has a deep message. Scars to Your Beautiful lets young girls and women know that they don’t need to look like models to be considered beautiful.
