In graphic communication we learn how to make different things. The one I like the most is when we had to make the logos and pictograms. It was my favorite unit to do because of the freedom we had of making our own design of our favorite brand logo. Also it helped me show how I would think of the logo and what creativity I had in my mind. This unit really helped me show the elements of what graphic design really is. It will help you in life because it would give a different perspective on other brand logos and also thinking about what symbol would represent the company you see around. I interviewed Nathan Savas about this unit of logos, symbols, and pictograms. He had very good comments on the unit and said “it was a good unit to work on.”
The author uses pathos, Logos, and diction/ word choice to reinforce his argument of the importance of reading. In the second paragraph the author uses the literary device , logos. Logos is a great way to make a strong argument because it's hard to refute facts. The author explains the data collected in the 2002 survey of public participation in the arts.
Rhetorical appeals are tools that are used to make arguments stronger. The 3 rhetorical appeals are Logos, Ethos, and Pathos. Logos appeals to reason, Ethos gives the argument credibility, and Pathos appeals to the reader’s emotions. Daniel J. Solove, a professor, author, and founder of a security company; uses all three in an attempt to strengthen his argument in his essay Why Privacy Matters Even If You Have ‘Nothing to Hide’.
In the article, “To Donate your Kidney Click Here” by Daniela Lamas, the authority derives from social media websites that deal with the matter of organ transplants and finding potential donors. Facebook was the social media site used to connect sick patients with future organ donors. Lamas uses three concepts in her article called ethos, pathos, and logos. Ethos is used to back up the author’s arguments, and prove she is reliable and trustworthy. Pathos shows mostly emotional and personal stories of patients. Lastly, Lamas uses logos to show logic and intellectual thinking through studies and analyses.
The video “How to Identify Ethos, Logos and Pathos” by Shmoop was a short, but concise video which explained the meaning of Ethos, Pathos and Logos. I believe, to know and understand what Ethos, Logos and Pathos is important to be a persuading writer. I have never heard that Ethos, Logos and Pathos are rhetorical devices so with this information I was sort of confused and I had to look up if those are really rhetorical devices. Furthermore, when they start talking and explaining about Ethos (1:20min), pathos and Logos, I think the simply, funny explanation, including the examples used in the video were good and easy to understand. Overall and in conclusion, the short video review covers in my opinion in a funny way the main information’s, which simplified the given information’s.
The Rhetorical triangle is a typical reference to the three logical interests recognized by Aristotle which consist of ethos, pathos, and logos. In the Rhetorical Triangle is formed by three sections: Speaker, Audience, and Context. For the Speaker element, you have to ensure that the audience knows your motive in your writing. In the audience element, it is essential that you know who are audience is to avoid mistakes in communication. Finally in the context or message element, you need to address the following questions “How was your information delivered?” and “What types of arguments did I use?” To be successful in your writing you must incorporate all three elements from the Rhetorical Triangle into your paper.
In the article, “Princess Diana Dies in Paris Crash,” it consists of ethos, pathos, and logos. Ethos means expert. Pathos means emotion. Logos means logic. The ethos in the article is BBC, a news broadcasting station. BBC received information on the car crash and received quotes from close family quickly because they remain located in London. In the article it says, “In a statement Buckingham Palace said the Queen and the Prince of Wales were “deeply shocked and distressed”.” In the article it states, “Hundreds of mourners have gathered at the princess’ London home, Kensington Palace, and many have laid flowers at the gates.” This statement from the article shows emotion because people, that express sadness, come together to pay their respects to Diana by laying flowers at the gates of her home. Logos expresses facts and specific details like, “Al Fayed and the chauffeur died at the scene but the princess and her bodyguard were cut
The implementation of the ethos, pathos, and logos are central to the art of effective communication. They are the necessary building blocks used to win the hearts and minds of an audience. The first integral element, ethos, refers to a character's reputation or credibility. The second element is pathos, which is a character's ability to connect with an audience at an emotional level. The last element, logos, is based entirely on facts and logic. These three modes of persuasion can be seen in the Joe Biden’s campaign video, which when combined persuades the audience to vote for the candidate.
The three approach types are ethos, pathos, and logos. Ethos is when you have chosen your approach which is the tone of the paper. Pathos is when you have your emotional appeal for your paper. This to me is the most important part of the paper. Logo is your source or logic providing evidence of your rebuttal.
Rhetorical appeal is intended to persuade individuals to think a certain way, conduct themselves in a certain manner, or the purchase particular products. Unlike speech in which an individual relies on their persona and content of speech to get their point across to an audience or consumer, advertisements use images to enhance the impact and appeal of logos, ethos, and pathos.
Rhetoric is defined as the art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing, especially the use of figures of speech and other compositional techniques. It is used to persuade an audience. According to Michael Austin in Reading the World: Ideas That Matter (661,664), Aristotle has three elements to persuasion: ethos, pathos and logos. Ethos is not just appealing to ethics, but it is establishing the speaker’s credibility and character. Pathos is an appeal to emotion to persuade an audience of something. Logos is an appeal to logic with things like facts and research. Any speaker that wants to persuade an audience to believe something should have an equal amount of all three elements. In the three videos, the speakers use
Thousands of children around America are increasingly joining the obesity epidemic and are struggling to get out of it. In the documentary, Fed Up, by Stephanie Soechtig, she creates a documentary that targets young teenagers and parents to uncover the truth of the epidemic and reveal how the food industry is hurting the children 's diet by making them become addicted to sugar. It explains how it is beyond people 's willpower and exercise alone that solves the epidemic, rather it is the food industries ' fault for the nfood they produce. Soechtig uses pathos, ethos and logos by documenting personal stories from young obese teenagers, providing a numerous amount of credible sources from a wide range of experts, and having evidence for the epidemic.
This paper analyzes the types, forms, and effectiveness of the author's use of pathos to evoke emotion from their audience to persuade them to support the purpose of their message. Defined in the course pack as "using emotion to persuade" (Heasley et al. 128) pathos is a technique rhetorists use to garner an emotion response from their audience through one of four methods. These five methods are word choice, vivid examples, personal experience, scare tactics and sensory details; authors can employ these methods individually or in conjunction with one another to invoke a pathetic response from their audience.

Since I am not a citizen of United States, I have never voted before, I am not registered to vote, I did not vote in the primaries in March. I do not plan to vote in the general election this November because I do not have the right to vote in U.S.; however, some of my friends plan to vote in the general election. People around me are somehow divided between the Democrat Hillary Clinton and the Republican Donald Trump. If I could vote I would vote for the Democrat Hillary Clinton because she supports gun control, she wants to fight against systemic racism in education & employment, she inspires American women to fight for their rights, and because she is really qualified, she has served as secretary of state, senator
In this essay, I will closely examine the role of ethos, pathos, and logos as they were utilized in the 1992 Presidential Debate video clip. Throughout Clinton and Bush’s debates, they used the three options of persuasion effectively and discretely; however, it is evident that out of the three ways of persuasion, the candidates used ‘pathos’ because of the content they were providing. It was apparent that Bill Clinton was more prepared to display forms of persuasion than George H.W. Bush was because Clinton had prior experience dealing with lower income people. In the upcoming paragraphs, I will explain and analyze how each candidate made use of the three forms of persuasion: logos, pathos, and ethos.
