I’ve seen many movies of all sorts, and I enjoy about any kind of movie. Out of my many favorites, Hairspray is the one I really like to watch and sing along with. Grease is another very good movie I’ve seen. Both take you on a musical journey, but Hairspray's songs are closer to stuff we sing today. Although both movies have good singers, Hairspray has some bigger singing stars whom most people have heard of. In this essay, I'll show you that even though they are both great, Hairspray is a better movie than Grease for many reasons. The 1978 movie Grease and the 2007 movie Hairspray are both big movies in many and different ways. Both movies are very well done, the creative type is historical fiction. Hairspray is more of a family safe movie, rated PG, when Grease is rated PG-13. According to Rotten Tomatoes Hairspray got 192 Fresh Tomatoes Grease got only 46 fresh tomatoes. Hairspray has more popular stars than Grease such as, Brittney Snow from Pitch Perfect, and Zach Efron from the High School Musical movies and The Lorax, there are many other amazing stars and fabulous singers. Both movies include the very talented and funny John Travolta, who plays Edna Turnblad in Hairspray and in Danny Zuko in Grease. Grease has stars such as …show more content…

In the movie “hair spray” the choreographer and director do a great job explaining not only the history of dance but also a main historic fact. With the classic musical- style story the director is able to introduce a part of history in a fun exciting way through dance and music. The story tells us many different things as well as shows us how dance can bring people from different ethnicities and color together. We can deeply connect with the story if we can understand and experience with story line. The story begins with a girl by the name of “Tracy” who is crazy about singing and dancing the, “new groove”. She is different then the rest in many ways but pursues her dream as a dancer without allowing anything to stop her. She shows her enthusiasm for dancing and singing from the beginning of the movie to the end. The story shows us a part of the 60s when segregation was in place. Whites and people of color where not often seen together. They were unable to live in the same neighborhoods or share the same friends, stores, and buses. At this time in history dance was very
Musicals were meant to bring exoticism to people so that people could enjoy and feel like they are somewhere for a couple of hours. What people didn’t see was the deeper meaning that some musicals brought to the surface like segregation, racism, body issues and LGBT. Hairspray and West Side Story are two musicals that bring deep meaning to their musicals if you look hard enough you will find them. Even though there is race faced in both Hairspray and West Side Story that build issues, yet the both come together as a group at the end.

It is no wonder he won the Tony award for best performance by an actor in a featured role in a musical for his portrayal of rock star Will. Brad Oscar was also fabulous in his portrayal of Nostradamus and it is no wonder that he was also nominated against Gregg Barnes for the Tony award. It was his showstopper performance during the song “A Musical” that wowed the audience.
For a large part of the twentieth century, interracial couples on TV shows were few and far between. Given that anti-miscegenation laws (the laws against inter-breeding of people considered to be of different racial types) remained on the books of U.S. states well into the 1960s, entertainment executives deemed mixed couples too controversial for television. And even now, in current times, the majority of current films presuppose the abnormality of interracial intimacy, leaving little room for alternate stories of harmony. Many of today's films instead poke fun at interracial relationships and depict solely the difficulties faced, the awkward encounters, and the negative effects of participating in one.

The film ‘Hairspray’ directed by Adam Shankman, is set in June 1962 in Baltimore, America. During this time, the Negroes were segregated from the white people. There was extensive discrimination. Adam Shankman used effective film techniques that helped me to understand a key idea that is that all people should be treated equally regardless of their race and colour. These techniques include the use of prop, costume and dialogue.

This essay discusses the art of styling your hair. Hair is the most important part of our body. Our hair brings out the beauty of us, like makeup which brings out the beauty of a girl. Beauty is power and makeup is something really enhances women's beauty. For guys, hair is like our makeup but more natural and breakout free. Teen is the age where we begin to discover what looks good on us and what's not. They became more concerned about their personal appearance, especially with their hair. We all have those throwback days where we look like Shrek. Our hair didn't match our face and clothes didn't match our outfit. The whole thing was indescribable.
Aerosol hairspray does destroy the Ozone Layer. There are chemicals that are harmful to the ozone layer and are destroying the ozone layer. This combination allows for the musical to obtain a severe plot, however, maintains the audience’s attention. The unique combination of pop melodies with sophisticated musical techniques along with complex use of musical elements allows the songs within the musical to depict a profounder meaning than what is originally perceived. This is depicted well in the song The wizard and I as it uses complex musical elements along with sophisticated musical techniques.
