One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World is the Great Wall of China, a immersively long and large wall stretching through more than 10,000 miles (“Great Wall History” 1). Many people may know of size of the Great Wall, but the reason for the building of this Great Wall is another matter. Despite the consequences of death of workers and peasants, different dynasties and city states built parts of the Great Wall for protection, notification, and unity of the people as a whole.
The Great Wall was built through many different generations of time; each generation adding on to the Great Wall in order to receive the benefits from it. It all begin in the early Spring and Autumn Period (770 - 476 BC) through the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911) (“Great Wall History” 1). The

The Han strengthened northern fortifications and lengthened sections of the wall from North Korea to Pyongyang, more than 5,000 miles (Hinsberg 1). The Sui dynasty ordered walls to be build north and west, spending over twentyeight years and two million laborers on the huge project (“Great Wall History” 1). The Song also fortified the Great Wall in order to stop northern tribes and prevent invasions (Hinsberg 1). Especially in the Ming, the Great Wall was built the to it’s peak at its longest (Waldron 13). The building of the Great Wall continued all the way until the Qing Dynasty in the 1900s (Waldron 14). Each one of these dynasties spent much of their time and money in the construction and fortification of the Great Wall proving the significance of it to the nation
