Mythologies from all around the world express important values that must be kept. Though mythology values differ depending on which nation it is from, some of the general values are love, wisdom, courage, and loyalty. Among the many values, the value of being cautious seem to be one of the most well communicated values, especially between the two cultures of Korea and Greece. Coincidentally, Korea and Greece both had many sudden/unplanned battles back when each of their myths first took place. Therefore, being cautious was the key to protecting their land and themselves. I think this is why the value of caution is expressed many times in both Korean and Greek mythology. There is a famous Korean mythology called “The Sun and the Moon,” that teaches the value of being cautious. It is a myth about a mother, two siblings, and a tiger. When I told the group that I wanted to become a lawyer, they all told me that it was an “unstable” and “dangerous” job. What they meant by that was, I wouldn’t make a lot of money as a lawyer because lawyers were very common, and if I became one, I’d be one out of the 1.3 million lawyers in US. Personally, I agree with my friends. I would much rather become financially stable by picking the easy road than suffer in the dangerous road. However, I value the passion for my dream more than being cautious by giving up on it so I can avoid risky situations. The Korean and Greek mythology both taught me that you must be cautious with your actions, but if I’m cautious all the time, I won’t be getting anywhere. I think that in certain situations, like when driving on the road or dealing with strangers, being cautious is wise, but in other situations, like staying in my safe zone instead of taking challenges because I’m afraid of failure, only makes me a
