Mythologies from all around the world express important values that must be kept. Though mythology values differ depending on which nation it is from, some of the general values are love, wisdom, courage, and loyalty. Among the many values, the value of being cautious seem to be one of the most well communicated values, especially between the two cultures of Korea and Greece. Coincidentally, Korea and Greece both had many sudden/unplanned battles back when each of their myths first took place. Therefore, being cautious was the key to protecting their land and themselves. I think this is why the value of caution is expressed many times in both Korean and Greek mythology. There is a famous Korean mythology called “The Sun and the Moon,” that teaches the value of being cautious. It is a myth about a mother, two siblings, and a tiger. Before leaving the house to work, the mother tells her two young children to be …show more content…
When I told the group that I wanted to become a lawyer, they all told me that it was an “unstable” and “dangerous” job. What they meant by that was, I wouldn’t make a lot of money as a lawyer because lawyers were very common, and if I became one, I’d be one out of the 1.3 million lawyers in US. Personally, I agree with my friends. I would much rather become financially stable by picking the easy road than suffer in the dangerous road. However, I value the passion for my dream more than being cautious by giving up on it so I can avoid risky situations. The Korean and Greek mythology both taught me that you must be cautious with your actions, but if I’m cautious all the time, I won’t be getting anywhere. I think that in certain situations, like when driving on the road or dealing with strangers, being cautious is wise, but in other situations, like staying in my safe zone instead of taking challenges because I’m afraid of failure, only makes me a
Extreme caution was taken in many different forms to feel secure in a world where nothing was safe. The Cold War caused great paranoia to American minds, and had many effects on the world we know today. Since the beginning of time paranoia has had an effect on humanity. It is a very
“Don't be afraid to have a reality check. Taking risks is OK, but you must be realistic.” -Joy Mangano. This quote proves that people can take risks, but they shouldn’t put themselves or others in danger.
“Mythos”- a Greek word meaning “tale” and the origin of the word mythology; according to the dictionary mythology means, a traditional story aiming to explain the meaning of things concerning deities and demigods.
This is because some of the morals taught by this story remain important today. Humility, family, and importance of promises are the most relevant of these values in the 21st century. Humility is important for a number of reasons. Primarily, it helps you succeed. If you very overly prideful, you wouldn’t see any use in practicing skills or learning information, because you would have the sense that could do it all already. The value of family plays a crucial role in society today as well, as many people share close bonds with others in their family. This ensures that people always have someone who they can trust and seek help from. Lastly, keeping promises helps you gain trust. This is important for strengthening relationships with others. The myth of Phaethon and the Sun Chariot helped the Greeks gain an understanding of the world, and contains many values which make the story still relevant
In conclusion the ancient greek myths and fables still inspire and teach lessons to people today by showing us some consequences the fables and myths had. Some bad consequences were like in “The Miser” and “The Hen and The Golden Eggs” when they lost their chance to have something good but did not because they did not make the right choice. Some good choices that happened is in Perseus because in that story he was thinking and used his resources wisely and in the end he had accomplished his mission. So to wrap it up the lesson is to appreciate and cherish things
We are always constantly at risk of dying or injuring ourselves. The chance of getting harmed is present in every moment we are alive. Danger can come from anywhere and people today have the chance to become a victim of it. The article "How Americans Are Living Dangerously" by Jeffery Kluger summarizes that Americans, despite having a grasp on risk, are placing themselves in front of danger despite the natural instinct to avoid it. It states that individuals claim to have reasons behind placing themselves in front of danger.
“If you want it, go for it. Take a risk. Don't always play it safe or you just might die wondering.” - Every day we take risks, whether you know it or not. Some risks might be good some might be bad but we will never know if we don't take them. Risk taking happens from the time we wake up in the morning till the time we go to bed.
Risks can be dangerous in particular situations, but is it really necessary to take these risks or is it just a terrible mistake? For instance, when I went by a beehive full of angry bees, when Macbeth hears about his future and when Hamlet got himself in a sword fight with Laertes. First,The risk I took was going past a beehive full of angry bees that could sting me. Bees can be very dangerous if they sting you and especially lots of them. Truly this was the biggest risk I had to take and probably the most unforgettable one. At that moment I did not know what to do.
In ancient Greek society, the ethos, the characteristic spirit of community, played an important role in the overall success of Greek civilization. The “spirit” in both the context of the real people in societies rule and the gods overseeing and influencing actions directly impacted the aspirations, beliefs, and customs of the people. While many of the pillars of the ethos sought to further the positive attributes of society in Greek civilization such as love, reconciliation, and patriotism, the aspects of ethos concerning pride and revenge often corrupted humanity into making selfish decisions for their own self-serving needs, often at a detrimental cost to the overall well-being of the rest. In several Greek literary works its not either pride or revenge

Without a certain amount of risk taking nothing could be achieved, this is because even the food that we consume on a daily basis could have a negative impact on our lives. The opposite side to this are the benefits that come from taking little risks every day, these may include how we get to work in the morning, what we choose to take part in within an activity or even how hot we like our bath water. If no risks where taken the general population would not leave their bed for fear of something bad happening, if small risks are taken there is the possibility

Well, it’s good to take risks because it helps people sometimes it benefits you and it makes you feel like a hero sometimes like when you risk your life for the president, people will remember you as a hero. Maybe some people take risk to do bad

The one common thing that has help a civilization grow throughout the period of time would be the formation of a religion. Religion is a center point for many societies throughout history. As the center for the different civilizations, it helped form their different traditions and customs. The same could be said about the people of ancient Greece, where religion or mythology played an important role in their lives as it was the pedestal of their culture and how they base their lives upon. The formation of a religion across the large number of regions of Greece, help the different locations mold themselves by the customs that were created from the adaptation. During what was known as Ancient Greece, the people would hear tales of the twelve Olympians and how their actions influence the world around them. Within this period of time for the people of Greece was that of growth, as they sought to bring new ideas into light as they exited from a dark period within their own history.
