A couple of reasons of how Greenfield's geography affects people's lives is because of food choices, temperature, and the way land is used. The food in Greenfield Wisconsin is very unique. For example, if someone were to go to France and eat there, the food in France would be very different from the food in Greenfield, Wisconsin. Another reason of how Greenfield's geography affects people's lives is because of the temperature. In Greenfield Wisconsin, there are four seasons: summer, fall, winter, and spring. In each season many things throughout the city change. Example: in summer more plants will grow because of the weather. Also, some grass will die because of the weather. The third and final reason of how Greenfield's geography affects people's lives is, by the way, a land is used. In Greenfield, most land is used for buildings such as schools, gas stations, police & fire department, houses, apartments, etc. How does this effect geography? Well, it affects what people may do in their free time and what their life is like. (How people work and some things Greenfield has that other city's may not have) Now that we know some reasons of how Greenfield's geography affects humans, let's move on to Greenfield's absolute and relative
Milwaukee’s history goes back to the 1800’s, when the first European settlers arrived in what is now eastern Wisconsin. Prior to their settlement, Milwaukee was mostly inhabited by Native American tribes, to whom the city owes its name. The Indians pronounced it Mahn-ah-wauk, meaning “the good land”, or the “gathering place by the water”. The term referred to common ground by the river where
“Get knowledge of the spine, for this is the requisite for many diseases.” –Hippocrates, 460-377 BC. If a Greek physician could make this statement over 2300 years ago, why is it such an under-exposed theory today? As stated in Chiropractic First, written by Dr. Rondberg, a chiropractor of 35 years and founder of the “Chiropractic Journal,” Hippocrates “believed that only nature could heal and it was the physician’s duty to remove any obstruction that would prevent the body from healing” (8-9). These “physicians” are called chiropractors today, and their goal is to remove subluxations, the displacement of two or more spinal disks that causes
On May 2, 2012, the National Football League lost one of its elite players to suicide: Junior Seau. Seau played for the Chargers, Dolphins, and the Patriots during his professional football career and was a 12-time Pro Bowler before retiring in 2009. Three years after his retirement however, Seau committed suicide by shooting himself in the chest with a gun. This greatly shocked the football world and its image of Junior Seau as a person, but it soon realized the cause for his action. Shortly after Seau’s death, researchers examined Seau’s brain and found that it contained a disease known as chronic traumatic encephalopathy which is formed
Unit 10 was a closure for the previous four units in the process of inventing Canada. This unit based on the earliest resources on Canadian history and on the first nations whom lived in this country. This resources were about pre-Cartier and his explorations. Some nations, for example the people who lived in St. Lawrence valley – whom did not have a specific name to be called at- and historians still lacking enough evidence on their existence or what happened with them. These people who are identified as St. Lawrence Iroquoians were lived in the contact area which means the conquerors reached them first. The Iroquoians were exposed to all the dangers Europeans carried into the native lands, different types of diseases they were not immune

It is not difficult to figure out what the liberal arts are; all it took was a simple google search and the definition was brought up instantly. Liberal arts are academic subjects such as literature, philosophy, mathematics, and social and physical sciences as distinct from professional and technical subjects. I am not majoring in any of these subjects and I hardly have any classes such as these in my schedule so I decided I needed to look up definitions that actually pertain to me. The definition of a liberal arts college was just as easy to find as the last one. A liberal arts college is a college with an emphasis on undergraduate study in the liberal arts and sciences. A liberal arts college aims to impart a broad general knowledge and
When I first heard of liberal arts schools, I thought of institutions like Julliard where students who want to study the arts attend. I pictured students painting on canvas, dancers leaping across stage, and musicians composing beautiful music. Since beginning my college visitations, I have come to realize that is far from what you will see at liberal arts colleges such as Loras. A liberal arts education not only touches on the arts but also the areas of history, science, math, language, and several more. Throughout my first thirteen years of schooling, I have taken classes covering many different subjects. Liberal arts schools continue to encourage one to learn about topics in various areas of study in order to obtain a more rounded education.
I chose Wisconsin as my state to talk about. There are many cultural influences in this state. There is an Indo-European and Native American cultures. I will break some of these down throughout this paper. I will start talking about how some towns are named after landscapes and then move on to towns named after people. We will also take about the Native American tribal influences, and occupational towns.
I am Dianaysis River; a girl who has a solid support system consisting of loving parents, an annoying yet reliable brother, and some of my closest friends. I’m girl who was born and raised in the beautiful city of Milwaukee. It always puzzled me why Milwaukee isn’t Wisconsin capitol, I must just have too much pride in my city. It is just a shame Milwaukee is not what it used to be. I remember when I was a child there was so much life in this city. It was safe, clean, it was a place many could call home.
When it comes to small towns people who haven’t lived in one tend to think that they are boring or bland. However a chat with some of the people who have always lived in a town of less than four-hundred people for their entire lives really paints a new picture. Donnie Moyer has lived outside of Terril, Iowa his entire life on a farm working for his father until his passing in which he took control of the property. When we discussed “How has the town change since you’ve lived here?” he responded with “It hasn’t change at all it's still the same place I grew up in.” Some see this as being bland but in today's age with all the technological change it is refreshing to see some are happy with their roots. Going on from that I asked him about his
Reporter stated they meet mom (Nia) was she was in Wal-Mart trying to steal when she was pregnant a few months ago. Reporter stated she paid for mom’s items. Report stated mom took things out her panties like toothpaste and sexual cream. She did not have anything for the kids. Reporter went to mom’s home on 9/2/17 to give the family some groceries. That was also the last time they saw the family. The boyfriend/husband (Eric) tried to push the reporter out the door. He does not like for the reporter to come over. He almost stepped on the baby while she was sitting in her car seat in the process. He pulled mom’s wig off in front of the reporter and the baby. Reporter did not see the other 2 children. Mom called the reporter
Sorry fellow reader, I know all I've been writing about is forensic but it's part of my life. So in forensics this weekend I won a blue ribbon. I have no idea why I won a blue ribbon, but somehow I impressed the judges that bad. Any way it was hard to get a blue ribbon I had to add more moves and more expression. The first judge was pretty nice, but then when it came to the second round I was scared of the judge. During the round I keep thinking my number was 21P1 but my number was actually 31P1. All the kids stared at me the whole time, even when I was just sitting in my chair. Then we got on the bus to get our ribbons. We all got our ribbon Yasmeen didn't want to know what she got sowe closed her ears and eyes and then told her she got a
It does not require a genius to figure out common curtesy. Respect should be given to those that provide respect; however, even if this is common sense it has become a rarity. Every time I am not acknowledged I feel as if I am not being respect. I feel mistreated and unjust because I am respectful and I provide my full attention to who I deem worthy. Some people just tend to accidentally not provide you the attention you deserve. They do not mean ill by it but, they are hurting you. When you are speaking to a person you give them undivided attention no questions asked, it’s just common curtesy. I am a very social person who enjoys speaking to other individuals and I too have been at the receiving end of not having the person’s undivided attention.
Madison, the south-central, mid-sized city in Wisconsin is defined by its five major lakes, a beautiful rural side and a lively metropolitan area of about 578,000 (Madison Population 2016). Madison spills into surrounding suburbs driving locals to express that they are from the “Madison Area.” Historically speaking, Madison was home to the Winnebago Native American Tribe (Madison: History n.d.). The surrounding lakes made the area a convenient place to settle. Around 1829, a man named James Doty bought surrounding land to pave a grid of streets. He was to make Madison, named after the fourth president, the new capital city (Time, B.T n.d.).
In the United States, starting salaries for teachers who have completed a four-year degree are far lower compared to many other professions, which also require a four-year degree. In most states, teachers must undergo testing and other rigorous certification requirements, but they are given the same consideration or status as beginning professionals in other areas. Although attractive incentives are offered, the compensation does not compare to the long hours of work and schooling required for a teaching career.
