A long time ago, dogs were once wolves, and they worked for humans. Over the millennia, wolves have evolved into dogs, and dogs have become friendlier. The way wolves have changed over time into dogs have been very noticeable. Although, the arctic grey wolf didn't turn into Cavalier King Yorkshire Terrier overnight. The reason the two, dogs and wolves, have changed are plentiful due to the changing relationship between humans and dogs. It cannot be denied.
At one time, over 30,000 years ago, dogs were once wolves. Gradually, over the millennia, the grey wolf evolved into the dog. Scientists still today do not know the full history of dogs, but do know that they all have one common ancestor, which is the grey wolf. At one time,

In ancient Rome, Roman warriors marched into battle alongside fierce war dogs. Some hunting dogs of Ancient Egypt that were greatly prized got mummified alongside their owners. Before cutlery and napkins had come into the world, people would use them to wipe their greasy hands on after an evening meal, and afterward, when they went to bed, on a cold winter night, the owners would make the dogs lie on their feet to keep them warm. The Kings of Europe, to avoid poisoning, wouldn't eat until the dog ate some of the food on their plate. On Lewis and Clark's exploration of the new world, their trusty companion, a big black dog named Seaman, saved their lives by chasing away a buffalo that was trying to stampede their camp. In modern times, dogs are used in the armed forces to sniff out bombs on a war field, sniff out missing people from the rubble of a natural disaster, and there are also police dogs used to sniff out drugs, food, and even people. They are also used for companionship in families today. For paralyzed people, such as a blind person, is led by a service dog. In nursing homes, some dogs have been proven to be effective when comforting the sick or elderly. What other jobs do dogs have in our …show more content…
In the U.S., most dogs are now kept as household pets for camaraderie. They sleep with us, eat with us, play with us, even go on family vacations with us. Dogs are very popular as pets because of their adorable faces, and personality. The American Pet Products Association says that "nearly 50 percent of American families own at least one dog." Some Americans spoil their dogs by spending tens of billions of dollars on them each year. From veterinarian trips and gourmet treats and meals to grooming and high-tech gadgets like microchips and doggie treadmills. The Harris Poll found, in a study, that an estimated 38 percent of dogs get specially cooked meals for them made by their

Have you ever played outside with your dog for a while and lay back to consider about how your dog evolved into whom he is today and how he turned into "family?" It was also common for the Wolves to be bred with dogs, in order to get a breed of dog with the strength of a wolf but the calmness and loyalty of a dog.
This has led to the belief that dogs can provide company, affection and support to people who are going through a difficult time or who feel lonely. Dogs have aided humans in tasks such as hunting, livestock herding, and guarding. However, as society moved from small rural communities to increasingly large metropolitan areas, the dog’s role changed. Throughout the years a more specific type of

There are a lot of discussions about whether wolves and dogs belong to the same species or not. Recently dogs were reclassified from “canis familiaris” to “canis lupus familiaris” what means they are considered as a sub-species of the wolf species “canis lupus”. However, they are extremely close relatives and genetic studies prove that both share a common ancestry. We can consider a dog like tamed or domesticated form of a wolf.
Supposedly, there is an ancient wolf that was the original evolution of dogs and wolves. This wolf-like beast evolved slowly into one branch, dogs, and another, wolves. The earlier evolution’s fossils from this beast, also known
The Gray Wolf have had an interesting history of evolution. It is a native to the location of Eurasia and North America. It evolved from the Canis species by its larger size and less pointed features. Its Binomial name is Canis Lupus. It is the only one of its species to have range encompassing new and old worlds of the wolf. The gray world is one of the most researched animals. Also it is one of the best known
The grey wolf has been transformed into what we, today, call a dog. After years of traveling with humans, the wolf began to change and became adapted and tame enough to socialize with humans. The environment it was placed into was one of the causes for change, and another was the role it played for humans.
In the beginning which is the ice age in this point the relationship between dogs and humans has changed overtime. It used to be that these creatures were our sworn enemies and hated each other and always fought for survival. And now we love them and consider them as family, so how did this relationship change? Well our first piece of evidence is in the article “How the Wolf Became the Dog” it states that scientist most common theory is “Bold Wolves began venturing into human camps to gobble up scraps. They would give birth to pups who inherited their parents bold personalities and, like their parents, made a habit of snacking on leftover human meals.”
Millions of people worldwide take care of domestic animals, with dogs being one of the most common. Man’s best friend was only fairly recently tamed by people. Around 10 to 30 thousand years ago in East Asia, wild wolves began to follow human hunter-gatherers, and scavenge on scraps of food. If a wolf was not aggressive, it had a better chance to form bonds with people. Humans began to feed the wolves, luring them closer, until the animals would loiter around their camps to eat food scraps. Scientists are not exactly sure why humans decided to let the wolves live with them; after all, people killed off most carnivorous animal species when they fought over a food supply. It is thought, however, that tribes used dogs to help them hunt for game,
The parent wolfs would protect the scrap pile from other predators and at the same time helping us, and in protecting the pile the wolfs died and there pups were abandoned. Man brought these pups with them to there camps and grew them up around us. As we changed the wolf pups to be with us they genetically changed over the years into- the protodog the beginning to the dog. Man rewarded the dogs with the best behavior and killed off the one whom where aggressive. Unintentionally man genetically changed and created the friendly dog who didn’t bite And we still do this today with selective breeding practices that alter a dogs look and
The first video believed that dogs were descended from wolves known as camp wolves. These were the wolves that hung around humans’ camps to feed off their scraps of food. Eventually they became familiar enough with each other that the humans began to raise the puppies and keep those with valuable traits like tameness. These humans then started selectively breeding dogs by their desirable traits and usefulness. From there different dog breeds were formed due to the differences in desirable traits, like speed, sight, scent, and hearing.
There are several theories on how the evolution from wolf to dog came about. One theory is that the human environment attracted wolves. Wolves started following people around to take advantage of food scraps that were left behind. Eventually, wolves lost fear of people, and people lost fear of wolves. The benefits of this new relationship were not just one way. Wolves also helped humans by sniffing out prey and helping them hunt. Success likely meant the humans would share their food with wolves. This is a very popular theory, but it has been disputed. Archeological digs show that the early dogs were not eating the same mammoth meat that the humans were eating. Instead, their main diet consisted mostly of less popular human meat such as reindeer. The prehistoric dogs also had many broken teeth and severe facial wounds. Although these injuries could be from fighting with other dogs, many scientists believe the dogs had been beaten with sticks, leading many to assume the relationship between man and prehistoric dog was not as companionable as the theory would suggest.
