Introduction:
Grief is a common problem in the older adult which causes adverse effects on them. The purpose of this paper is to understand the needs of the older adults in our society who are constrained by grief. Grief can be defined as a natural and normal reaction to loss in all of its totality including its physical, emotional, cognitive, behavioural and spiritual manifestations. Grief is a serious issue in the world as well as in Canada which can be defined as the response of physical illness, isolation problems, loss of loved ones and, financial problems. It has adverse effects on the older adults that lead to a number of undesirable outcomes such as physical, psychological and, emotional problems. Therefore, the government and society must be committed to provide supports to overcome the old people’s grief in order to bring a happier and healthier life of old people in society. This paper provides information regarding different prevention programs and how they are helpful to reduce the grief in the older adults.

According to Corr, Corr, and Bordere (2013), death is a term that is used to indicate one’s end of life, while dying is the process that one undergoes before he or she loses his or her life. The author talks the reader the numerous aspects of death and dying, as well as bereavement. This book incorporates classical and modern material, contemporary task-based methods for a person or family coping with death. The article is divided into sub-sections including introduction chapters and conclusion chapters, which revolve around the subject of death and how people, including relatives of the deceased, survive. There are four chapters in this book which explain how children, teenagers, young, and middle-aged adults cope with death. From this point of view, it is clear that this book discusses various aspects of religious and cultural perspective that affects one’s understanding as well as the practices associated with death.
This grief symptom would be based on gender, ethnicity and race. Based on the analysis of the article and using PREPARE, this article would be retained for the final assignment due to the credibility of the authors, the research which was performed, and the method in which the authors performed the research.

The loss of a loved one is a very crucial time where an individual can experience depression, somatic symptoms, grief, and sadness. What will be discussed throughout this paper is what the bereavement role is and its duration, as well as the definition of disenfranchised grief and who experiences this type of grief. I will also touch upon the four tasks of mourning and how each bereaved individual must accomplish all four tasks before mourning can be finalized. This paper examines the implications of grief, bereavement and disenfranchised grief. Grief in response to a loss is a unique experience and is expressed distinctively by every individual. It is helpful to have models that outline the stages of grief that need to be experienced in order to achieve acceptance. However, their utility is limited by the reality that grief is immeasurably complex and individualized. Veterans and children are two groups at risk of developing disenfranchised grief. Therefore, it will be important for nurses to be able to identify those suffering with disenfranchised grief or other forms of maladaptive grief so appropriate intervention may be employed.

Approximately, 36% of the world’s population does or has suffered from grief and only a mere 10% of these people will seek out help (Theravive, 2009). Once a person is suffering from grief it is important to receive treatment. All too often, people ignore grief resulting in deep depression, substance abuse, and other disorders (Theravive, 2009).
