Salads my not be your best friend when counting calories. In the video there were two salads utilized as examples from Chili’s. One was the quesadilla explosion and the other a grilled chicken salad. After an in depth review of the salads it is frightening how many calories can be hidden in salads. The quesadilla explosion salad had 1360 calories, 88 grams fat, 29 grams of saturated fat, and 3000 mg of sodium. On the other hand the grilled chicken salad contained only 430 calories. It is very important to consider key words when selecting a salad from a menu. Stay away from fried or crispy as descriptions. While avocado and nuts are healthy, they are high in calories. Other items found on salads that pack on the calories include cheese and

Him making the connection makes the author better think about what they may put in there body that isn’t so healthy. He says that a salad from this restaurant is about 450 calories but when paired with the dressing that most people believe to be one serving but in fact is two and half servings totals out the meal to being 1,040 calories the same amount that most fast food restaurants burgers are.
“One company’s Web site lists its chicken salad as containing 150 calories; the almonds and noodles that come with (an additional 190 calories) are listed separately. Add a serving of the 280-calorie dressing, and you’ve got a healthy lunch alternative that comes in at 620 calories. But that’s not all. Read the small print on the back of the dressing packet and you’ll realize it actually contains 2.5 servings. If you pour what you’ve been served, you’re suddenly up around 1,040 calories…and that doesn’t take into account that 450-calorie

Green Eggs and Ham is a timeless tale which has remained in both the hearts and minds of readers due to the author’s unique utilization of repetition, imagery, and tone. Throughout the story, the narrator constantly repeats the phrase, “I do not like green eggs and ham” (Seuss 12). The repetition of this phrase, and others of similar meaning, intensifies the character’s distaste while also embedding the significant text into the reader’s mind. Along with repetition, the use of imagery distinguishes the book. The specific descriptions, such as “in a house” and “with a mouse,” allow readers to create vivid images, enhancing their enjoyment of the story (Seuss 19). Additionally, the transition from an annoyed tone to one of amazement establishes
On November 18, 2016 I attended the performance Vital Signs directed by Pam Cardell in the Sponberg theatre. The scene entitled “Fried Chicken” was enacted by Janiquia Scott, who executed the monologue better than anyone had projected, leaving the audience in stunned silence when she made her exit. Her costume consisted of jeans, a black tank top, along with a red cardigan. The choice of outfit added a sense of melancholy as she transformed into her character. She embraced her role as a battered, abused woman in a way that made her become the woman she was portraying. She began her short, three-minute monologue in the dark, facing downstage. Facing the crowd, Janiquia made the audience feel as if the monologue was her reality, and we were her
Good chicken fajitas marinade can be hard to come by on the supermarket shelves, so I always make my own. Making your own marinade is extremely easy and gives you control over the spices and ingredients you eat. My two fundamental rules for producing a good chicken fajitas marinade are: 1) always use fresh ingredients, and 2) the longer you marinate the better.
The excerpt ‘Turkey’s in the Kitchen’ by Dave Barry was written to portray his thoughts on gender roles in a common setting. Barry’s purpose in writing this piece is to address the steryotypes that are placed on men and women’s roles in household duties by using a humorous approach. The author uses personal anecdotes, humor, and diction to establish pathos and ethos to appeal to the audience.
Larissa Gedney wrote that fast food is often perceived as a completely unhealthy food choice, but lately fast food companies have upped their games in the health business. Just because they’ve gotten healthier it doesn’t mean that you should eat it four to five times a week. Some restaurants are better than others, for example McDonald's Bacon Clubhouse Crispy Chicken Sandwich is 750 calories, while Chick Fil A’s Chicken Sandwich is only 440! Caesar Barber could eat an elephant and gain less weight than eating at McDonald's.
Obesity is a common problem found across all demographics in the U.S., and is increasingly more prevalent amongst college age students. The “Freshman 15” is a real phenomenon that many young people face in their first year of independence from their homes. Students have their first experiences in choosing meals for themselves. One of the main reasons why college students put on this added weight when they leave home is the selection provided by their universities dining center. A quick glance at NDSU’s dining menus allows one to see that the deserts are what headline the menu, with the entrée options listed towards the bottom, as can be seen in FIGURE 1. This menu design influences the choices of the students; it subconsciously encourages
To demonstrate, a burrito bowl with the following ingredients- brown rice, black beans, chicken, queso, pico, cheese, and guacamole- will have two very different calorie counts depending on which chain it’s made at. At Qdoba this burrito bowl will have 880 calories, with 42 grams of fat, 49 grams of protein, and 2100 milligrams of sodium (Macros). While this may seem like a hefty meal, the same bowl at Chipotle would have 1005 calories, 52.5 grams of fat, 58 grams of protein, and 2020 milligrams of sodium (Menu). Although Chipotle has more calories in their bowl, some people may view their meal as healthier because there’s more protein per serving. However, according to Chris Gunnars, a journalist at Healthline, the average human only needs around 50g of protein a day, meaning that a Chipotle burrito bowl would give a person 8 unnecessary grams of protein in their diet (Gunnars). Therefore, while the two restaurants may be similar in taste, Qdoba is more nutritional by
