Dr. Kirkley Ground Zero Sacred or Not Sacred
When I begin to think about Ground Zero and all the people who lost their lives that day, I have a lot of compassion for the families whose lives was forever changed. It allowed us as a nation to come together in sister and brotherly love. The nation had so much compassion for New York City, the out pour of volunteers that came from all over the United States to help rebuild New York was astounding. As a nation, we stood as a united front, no one thought of any one’s nationality, or religion. We all had one mission one goal, and that was to offer a helping hand for those in need of our assistance.
To determine whether Ground Zero should be considered

I know that I will never forget this day for the rest of my life, I can still remember where I was when the first plane hit the Twin Towers. I feel that we honor Ground Zero every year in a special way, but if we put the label of it being sacred this way cause people to feel uncomfortable going there. When you think of sacred, one way feel it is disrespectful to step on Holy ground, because sacred items are linked to things that are considered Holy. Ground Zero will forever be etched in our memory therefore I think it should be memorialized, and not considered as something that is …show more content…
Each have their own views on how the peace process should go, but they all think that their way is the correct way to resolve the issues. The Israeli’s peace process feels that it should be negotiated of some giving up command on inhabited properties. The Israeli’s feel that this will stop all the coercion and conflict. The Palestinian’s think that their way would resolve all the violence between them if get the general understanding of how to bring about awareness to all parties involved. The Palestinian’s feel that Israeli’s are trying to occupy land that doesn’t rightfully belong to them. The United States felt that Israel should give up some of the land that was taken in a war that occurred in 1967. The United States Presidents have verbally supported the Palestinian’s about the territories, in hopes that the main goal would be achieved by all a peaceful
September 11, 2001 was not just any ordinary day for the citizens of the United States and the city of New York, but a devastating attack that has put us all in shock and fear. As all of you know, the Tuesday that this country was ambushed and attacked destructively by terrorists, was one of the saddest days America has ever seen. Not only did it affect the people that were in the World Trade Center Towers and the loved ones who unfortunately passed away, but it affected our country as a whole. Scared, devastated, astonished, and surprised are just a few words that begin to describe September 11th. As separate states and people, I can confidently say that America has never been closer together as one than on that
After the tragic incidents displayed on 9/11, Americans came to together as ONE nation united. Some gathered in church and synagogues while others in community centers and homes to show strength and support for our nation. For our country, we echoed to the rest of the world ‘United We Stand.’
Our country has been through many tragedies and devastations over the years, but nothing could prepare us for the horrific event that took place on September 11, 2001 in New York City. A series of four terrorist attacks by Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda left the world shaken. Everyone helplessly watched as commercial airlines crashed into the North and South World Trade Centers. The collision left scorching flames, dense smoke, and a gaping hole in the side of the buildings. During that time, thousands of cries for mercy for mercy could be heard along with the silent heartbreaks of millions across the world. As seconds minutes passed by, hundreds more were killed due to smoke inhalation, significant burns, and even suicide. Soon, the temperature
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the one of the world’s oldest conflicts, and it is still an ongoing problem in the world. Zionists and Arabs: two groups with conflicting beliefs who both claim Israel as their own. In wake of the Holocaust the U.N decided to gift the Jews a homeland for the lives lost in the genocide. In 1947, the U.N Partition divided the land of Israel (Historic Palestine) into two separate states: Arab and Jewish. Since then, the state of Israel has been the center of conflict between the Arabs and the Zionists. As time passed the Zionists gained more land from winning the Six-Day War, and consequently the Palestinians had to live as refugees in other Arab countries. Additionally, more than 75% of the land belonged to
September 11, 2001 was a very tragic day but at the same time a very heart shaping experience. The men and women who ran into burning building trying to help the helpless had great courage and personal honor. Every person that had been hurt or killed during this horrific ordeal were rescued and treated as needed. The fallen rescuers did not even think of their own lives, just the people who needed the help. The personal honor that drives a man to search for up to 18 hours straight, looking for any sign of life, honors those lost, and honors his country.
-Quartet of Middle east— recognizes Israel but also wants Palestinian to have their own state. They struggle to find a way for peace. There are different resolutions that have been suggested such as the Oslo Peace Accords in 1993, Road map for peace, Camp David Summit 2000, etc. but it all failed.
This Israeli-Palestinian conflict stems from both groups dissension over land, by the Jews and by the Palestinians, who seek self-determination.Various acts done by the Israelis have resulted in a lack of trust amongst themselves and the Palestinians. This lack negatively affects the prospects of a peaceful settlement.
On September 11, 2001, in our time of grief, the American people came together. We offered our neighbors a hand, and we offered the wounded our blood. We reaffirmed our ties to each other, and our love of community and country. On that day, no matter where we came from, what God we prayed to, or what race or ethnicity we were, we were united as one American family.
Since 1967 the borders between Palestine and Israel have been unfair. The Israeli people have taken a majority of the Palestinians land. This had caused conflict between these two territories for years. The Israel and Palestine conflict has been going on for many decades and nothing seems to be able to solve this issue. All because the Israeli government is very stubborn. They are not willing to make a compromise in this situation. The main issues between the Palestinians and the Israelites are; Israel has been unfair to the Palestinians and have taken the land which used to be their own. Not only has Israel created unfair boundaries but, they are also reluctant to let outsiders into Jerusalem. A place that is not only religiously important to the Jews but also to the Arabs. And above all of that Palestinian people feel as if they have to live in fear from the Israeli people. Israel militia has shot at mothers and children. These problems are still prevalent today; if we can solve the unfair borders, Jerusalem, and security we could have a safer Middle East.
When the twin towers were destroyed in New York, Manhattan, the people with an all american dream became devastated. The survivors of the victims lost the hopes and dreams, and the security that the United States provided for its nation. We were left not only devastated, but also vulnerable. We were no longer the beacon for freedom, but rather the nation of chaos. Over 3,000 people were killed in this attack. That’s not to mention the thousands that were not killed, but left with injuries for the rest of their life, disabilities they would later die from or suffer with. For example, when the twin towers were destroyed, the debris left over caused plenty of problems for the first responders or those who lived anywhere near the towers. “Those exposed to WTC-related dust were more likely to develop respiratory symptoms, sinus problems, asthma or lung problems. One in 10 Registry enrollees developed new-onset asthma within six years of 9/11, three times the national rate. New cases were highest during the first 16 months after 9/11”. (NYC resources.) We like to believe that the people affected by this tragedy were given the proper help but the promises made by our nation were not completed. We also have been affected psychologically, for every person five people at least one of them had Posttraumatic stress disorder, even if they were not in the building itself. We were left
On September, 11th, 2001, tragedy struck when terrorists attacked the US. The Twin Towers in New York City crumbled to the ground with people stuck inside. Firefighters helped those stuck. People dug through rubble to help out those who were trapped in the fallen towers. EMT’s helped as many people as they could. Others drove down to help as many people as they could. Yes, a lot of people lost their lives, but tons lived. If that’s not compassion, I don't know what is.
September 11, 2001 is a day that no American will ever forget. That day has left a mark on each an everyone of us. That day is commonly known as ‘9/11’ and was the longest day in New York City. Everyone needs to know the dangers of each day, no matter if you see if coming or not. No one on that day know what life changing experience they would go through. Shortly after arriving to work in September 11, 2001, the attacks took place. Flights 11, 77, 93, and 175 were hijacked early in the morning and the crashed occurred shortly after. Not only were the Twin Towers hit that day, but the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania were hit. There are many survivors who shared their incredible stories. They addressed what was going throughout their minds
Since the Independence of Israel in 1948, there has been a greater tension between the Israelis and the Palestinian community. It is very important to know that both have been living Israel before it was considered an independent state. Not only Palestinians have been in conflict with the Israelis but also Arabs and Muslims. They might not have the same issues with Israel as the Palestinians do, but they both dislike Israelis for different reasons. Palestinians issue has been over property ownership while the Arabs and Muslims community has been over religious reasons. It is difficult to resist the conclusion that Israel belongs to
Furthermore Israel’s extreme control will not allow the two sate solution happen henceforth not letting peace happen because of their selfishness. On the other hand Israel has extreme control because they deserve that land. In today’s world Palestine and Israel have a constant battle because of the fact that Israel controls almost every decision when it comes to the change in the government. In fact “Israel controls more than half of the west bank and all of east Jerusalem” (Abu) confirming that Israel is not ready to give up the land that belongs to Palestine. However the majority of those who live in east Jerusalem are Jewish. For that reason “Sources such as Water are to be kept under Israeli authority” (Abu), not only controlling the life style of the Palestinians but also controlling the agricultural in
Have you ever thought that you could peace with each other, now let's make that possible for you. Palestinians and Israelis was given land. Israel was divided into two, Palestinians have a half and Israelis have the other half. Israelis are taking over the Palestinians land. It’s not fair we think. The land should be shared equally. We are offering above all to make peace. We want you guys to be nice to everyone on your own. We want you to be nice like how you are nice to each other with in your group. We know if your kind, generous, loving, and equal. If you are a Palestinian you are going to be nice and no arguing or fights to the Israelis. If you are an Israelis you are going to be nice and no arguing or fights to the Palestinians. We will
