From mine perspective, group assessment is the hardest parts that I have done when I started the university. As what I have learnt from the group presentation in Introduction of Management course, a high relationship and the enthusiastic members would create the best performance. Our team is a diversity team because we all have the difference in backgrounds and cultures. Chloe and I come from the same country, which is Vietnam and we are international students. Genesis, who grow up in Australia, but have the Venezuela background. And last but not least, Hosna, she is from Afghanistan and also grow up in Australia. As a leader in the team, I decided to monitoring the team by using the chat room on Facebook and reminded them to finish their …show more content…
At the first moment, I did not think that the team would be succeed based on our different background. However, the topic of this second assessment was about manage in the diversity workplace. Therefore, I believed my team has a huge advantage in order to complete the presentation. It was quite awkward when we first started off because the members did not communicate too much with the others. But, after choosing the leader, we were more comfortable than before. Instead of selecting the leader by group members, I elected myself to become a person, who was able to lead the team. As a leader, I decided to divine the presentation into for parts, such as, introduction and conclusion, first, second, and third solution and asked the team members to choose the part that they would like to research. Based on this method, the members would have more motivation to complete their tasks on time. Each member has the unique characteristics. Therefore, in my perspective, I tried to use member’s skills and knowledge according to their strength and weakness. For instance, Chloe has a good writing skill, so she becomes the one who will write the introduction for the presentation in order to attract the …show more content…
As I said in the introduction, our team used social media, such as, Facebook to contacted with each other. In my view, I think Messenger in Facebook is the best communication way for us because I was able to check if my team members are active now or not as well as Facebook also has the video call function. Our group did not establish any rules or protocols for behaviours because I wanted the members do not feel any pressure. Personally, I think a comfortable spirit creates a better result than anything else. Luckily, each member in the team did quite well for their parts, so we did not have any arguments. I think that each of us had a different role in contributing to the team successful. Hosna and Genesis with their meticulous characteristics, they actually helped us to fix every little mistakes in our parts. Chloe always created the group meeting as well as booked the room for us to practice. I feel that I was the one, who ensure that our group were on the right track and reminded everyone to finish their task. In my perspective, I think that our group developed a sense of belonging to the team. Therefore, we were able to complete the assessment without any
Whether groups are formed for social or task oriented purposes, the ability to produce and maintain a sense of affiliation, peer support and collaboration is important for overall group functioning. The cohesion of a social group is produced through the establishment of a set of group norms, which are later defined as a guide for conduct accepted within a group of individuals. However, in order for a group to perform and produce results, the team leader should guide his/her team through the proper stages of group development, which includes the following steps: forming, storming, norming, performing and adjourning. Although teams should follow all these stages of group development, the forming and the norming stages are the most important,
The group the facilitator will be observing is an anger management group that is held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at Assurance of Hope Institute, Inc. The group consist of twelve men between the ages of twenty-five to forty-five. The group contains ten African American men and two Caucasian men. The group has been meeting three times a week for four months. The group is an open group that is available to all young adult men particularly those suffering from mental health illness. The clients whom attend the group have been either court mandated because of a violent encounter. The group discusses triggers that make one anger, ways to manage your anger, decrease overall intensity and frequency of angry feelings, increase ability to recognize and appropriately express feelings as they occur, identify situations, thoughts, feelings, that trigger anger, angry verbal and/ or behavioral actions and the targets of those actions. The facilitators of the group have explored family background and history to
Assessment at the team level considers team communications, dynamics, and ability to reach consensus as meetings. For that matter, the amount of work completed and the cycle time for the entire process are evaluated as part of the assessment exercise. On the other hand, assessment at the individual team member level considers how the individual cooperates with other team members, communicates his or her ideas and opinions, and participates in team activities. In this case, the number of viable ideas that the individual presented is determined, accuracy considered, and turn-around time for completion of a unit of work factored. Thus, I learnt that team analysis can be conducted from the team or individual member perspective. The knowledge I acquired from this module will stand me in good stead with the six-week practice placement when I will be required to work within teams (Peacock 2006).
As a group, it was important to us to have this in our FVC for a few reasons. One of the reasons for this was because we did not want any member to show up and be under the influence or complain the whole time. If this were to happen, we would have to deal with that problem which would take away time from working and would cause possibly a bigger problem. Profanity and complaining would not be tolerated also because that would then effect the environment and atmosphere of the work place. It can be assumed that with one of those problems occurring work would not be as efficient and scheduled as planned as we thought it would be. Thankfully, during the semester none of my group members complained or appeared to be under the influence during
At the beginning, I took it upon myself to configure the essay, turn in the project on time, and share a Google Doc file with each partner. By creating the presentation on Google, this allowed every group member access the presentation and work on their slides whenever they needed to do so. Choosing the categories came easy, respectfully we gave each other the chance to voice our opinions on why we should have that specific topic. Lance was a huge help getting everything rolling, he offered to drive to Happy Trails to interview Josh Devault and not mention set up the meeting. Ryan kept me updated with his work and asked many questions that added to my confidence that he will get the job done correctly. Eddie hammered down on his section as well as kept everyone up-to-date with his progress through the journal feature on Blackboard. Char Dai’ got her section done before everyone else did and that was astonishing. She influenced the whole group to get their work done quick and efficiently. Every member worked hard and finished on time, I’m quite happy with our group’s
As a counselor, it is important to conduct pre-group assessments to determine if the client will benefit from the group. Considering the client's are high school students, one should consult the parent(s) and obtain consent before beginning. Because this group is psychoeducational, it is important to present the client with information about the material related to the group. Additionally, it is essential to discuss the dynamics, and goals of the group with the client, to determine whether one stands to benefit from group counseling. Subsequent notice of client rights and responsibilities are provided, along with the consent. Boundaries and anonymity are crucial to communication; therefore client's will be encouraged to keep group discussions

It is understood that interdisciplinary input has always been essential to find the optimal solution in healthcare. The teamwork required has historically had its own problems. This paper looks at the problems one team encountered and discusses the evidence-based theories and solutions and how they apply. This team’s members are RNs and RPNs who comprise the Nursing Administrative Team at a long-term care facility. This paper discusses the team’s strengths and weaknesses and the strategies to overcome them.
To analyse the presentation and teamwork I need to be able to understand everyone has different experiences and different ways of working and had their own view on teamwork. My confidence grew as I got to know the team. Giving the presentation has helped me with my confidence, which I will need when I am working in the health care. I have also learned to speak up more and encourage others to take part when they where being quiet and not pulling their weight. It was good to do research using the appropriate methods, looking at journals and professional sites. I managed to hold it together during the presentation in front of everyone. I knew the presentation was not going to go as well has it could due to the lack of practice. The reason I was so nervous was
One of my favorite parts of this class has been taking assessments. Over the last two weeks, I have taken a series of five assessments including: team management, people skills, leadership, anger management, and management skills. Some of the results surprised me, and after studying them extensively, I have determined the areas that I need to work on. I am confident that by using the information I have gleaned from these results that I can improve all these skills.
Our team comprised of four members; Emily, Cileena, Chelsea and I. We were all delegated with an individual role each term and I was designated team leader for the first term for our group. I felt at the time that this role did not suit me as I am the type of person who is more on the shy side. In addition, the course had just begun so I was relatively unsure of how the course was handled which also affected my ability to serve as the team leader to the best of my capabilities. During the first term, our team responsibility was the evaluation team. We created a well planned and carefully executed evaluation rubric to assess each group’s performance. The start of this term was when the phases of group development initiated. The first stage of any group is forming (Harris and Sherblom, 2010, p. 58). At this time, we were all still getting to know each other and were uncertain upon one another
In this age, for the vast majority of us, collaboration is a piece of our regular daily existence. Regardless of whether it is at home, in the group, or at work, we are frequently anticipated that would be a useful piece of a performing group. Having a solid group benefits any association and prompts a larger number of victories than disappointment. Each group experiences the five phases of group improvement. Initially, some foundation on group improvement.
First of all, to be put in a group of individuals that I had never met or interacted with before was always going to be difficult. The process of getting to know them better and finding the strengths and weaknesses of each team member was hard at first but the more we worked on the presentation, the better we became at communicating and getting the
By the onset of the second team meeting, the team had a clear direction in which they wanted the project to go. During the meeting, we delegated sections of our topic to each team member. Natilee oversaw discussing the “Common Influence Tactics”. Sydney volunteered to cover the “Hard v. Soft Tactics,” section. Jinal asked to present the “How to Increase My Own Influence?”. Lastly, Tiffiany was responsible for covering the “Principles of Persuasion” area. From there, we began to discuss the medium of our presentation. We decided to use Google Slides; due to the fact it is easy to share with each other. Sydney suggested that we be familiar with our individual section before putting our information on the slides. Natilee stated that she would begin the presentation by establishing a topic slide and send everyone an invitation to join the document via Google, so that each team member could assess the project and add their information when they were ready. Jinal gave a quick reminder of what the instructor expected for the presentation while Tiffiany pointed out that the presentation should be completed before the due date in case any technical issues should arise. Before dismissing, we established the next meeting time and objective for the next part of our project.
Working in a group can be very difficult at times. Different people with different views may not always agree which one another. Throughout the various task I played the communicator. I made sure everyone was on track on what we wanted to do. I also made sure people was okay and happy in the role they was playing in the group. My group worked together in collecting ideas from one another and making it into one.
