Two heads are better than one. I very strongly agree with the subject of teachers assigning group projects for many reasons. First, assigning group projects allow students to receive extra help. Second, it gives students an opportunity to compare their answers. Last, I agree with group projects because of a past experience of doing an egg drop experiment in science class. As can be seen, I feel that group activities are a much more sufficient way to learn and get involved. First of all, group assignments are a very good way for students to benefit from the mount of extra help that it provides. On a personal level I fell that group projects are a very effective for students that need the help. For example, some students really need the help, but are too shy to speak up. By being put in a group in class for an activity or project the will most definitely receive the help that much need. I think that group activities are most definitely the best alternative for children who need help. Not only do group projects benefit the students it also take the stress off of the teachers in an abundance of ways. The most important way is that it really helping the children. Students being able to compare their answers confirms that are doing the assignment correct which results in a better grade. Improving the student’s grades will do many things. One it makes the students feel better about themselves. Two it will brighten the student’s future. Three if more people are happy about their grades then it creates a much brighter and happier learning environment. Not knowing if they are doing the work right or not knowing if their grades are good can be very stressful for a student. By being able to compare their answer it will lift the stress off of that student. All in all, being able to compare our answers with classmates truly
This project was quite expeditious due to the number of alternate subjects studied within the constraints of school. This made it quite difficult to complete because time limits were evident and tested. This could have had a substantial impact on the project itself, however, it did not because of skill and precision. Working individually could be beneficial in certain circumstances if one is smart, advantages might include independence and personal idea. For this class project, I think my group worked well together on the assignments. We all saw we had responsibilities and were expected to do our own parts for each assignment we worked on. For each assignment, we would split it equally among us and used a tool called Google Docs so we were each on our own computers but working together on one file. Google Docs really made the process easier with reviewing all the information and having it all in one file. If any questions came up we had a group text to communicate when we weren’t on campus grounds for class.
I believe many students do not like group assignments because for the most part a person or two do not pull their wait leaving the leader doing most of the work. Other problems includes having to deal with various personalities, the work distribution, trying to communicate with each other, feeling vulnerable, and the way everyone gets the same grade because it is a group effort. So the lazy people get the same grade as the people who worked hard.
Have you ever wondered what got the Beatles or ACDC so far in their career? They were in a group and that benefited them in multiple ways just like group projects benefit us in the classroom. I think that having group projects benefits us and our whole entire learning atmosphere in a positive way. Group project and activities benefit us by giving a more positive and less tense environment for learning, they help us learn social skills when we work together with other people in our groups and finally group projects let us take enjoyment in what we are doing our project on and we can have a better experience while participating in this project. I like group projects and I think we should have more of them in and out of the classroom.
I need to agree that group work helps students in the long run, even though I despise it. Group work is here to stay. It helps students develop key social skills, teaches them some of the main points of teamwork, and projects tend to be a beefier part of the student's grade and help from other students may boost that grade.
Working in a group was a great way to get to know my classmates. Despite our differences, we worked together and completed the assignment. I like working in a group, but sometimes I would rather do the assignment on my own. Group work has its good and bad effects.
When I become a teacher I plan to have my students work in cooperative groups because this allows them a chance to share their knowledge and ideas with their peers. Due to the fact that most students are on different developmental levels, those students who are of higher developmental levels can provide the other students with their ideas and perception of their knowledge. I feel that teachers should not be scared to let their students participate in group work because I think it is a great method of learning.
Another problem is that this method requires everyone to have high motivation if they want to complete the project to a high standard and a as the group is small a few unmotivated people can bring the whole project down. The group did have motivation problems during the middle of the project with some group members not producing any work. The motivation could have been reduced if the work been assigned one at a time instead of all at the start allowing people to focus on one thing at a time and seeing the list of work get smaller.
In Advanced Placement Computer Science, most of the assignments that a student does involves just him/her and the computer. This type of classwork is what I enjoy the most. But once or twice each six weeks the instructor assigns student group projects. The group projects are meant to be engaging and challenging. Even though I am a lone wolf, I am willing to conform my specialties to make the group successful. The traits and skills I can bring to the table depends on the people that I am working with.
I believe group performance-based projects supports student motivation by promoting teamwork. I am a firm believer that a student learns and works better through team driven activities. The students are placed in mix reading levels cooperative groups to better assist their performance in lessons/activities. When students are placed into cooperative groups, all learning styles can be supported. The students work alongside each other despite their reading levels and work to guide each other on an assignment/project. In addition, group performance-based projects supports team building and partnership workmanship.
We do many activities at school in all classes, and that proves the that in all our classes we do tons of group projects. Like, in social studies and science we create presentations and do labs and projects with others. in math we all do our practice problems with a partner. While we are
The second reason I agree with group projects is it improves student's performance in school. They would get better grades because it is easier to get through difficult steps or parts. The quality of the work will be much better that working alone. Speaking from experiences, parents would be much happier if their child not only got a better grade but also made some new friends as well.
In my undergraduate work, almost all of my classes that were directly related to my major required at the least one group project. In the beginning this was not something I was very fond of mostly because I had some bad experiences when it came to working with others on projects. Usually it was the problem of people not pulling their own weight, and doing their parts to help with the tasks. When it came time to have the assignment complete it was even harder to give a grade to those people. I did not want to be the guy who caused someone to throw someone under the bus. However, after I thought about it, I did want to be that guy because in the real world on a work project if there was someone who did not pull their weight in the job projects would not be successful. So, when it came time for grades, I was always honest, and usually if a person did not do their part I told it how it was.
Since elementary school I can clearly remember be in assigned group projects, and now that I am currently in my senior year of my college education this concept is still being used in the classroom. There are many advantages and disadvantages to assigned group projects. In terms assigned group projects can be similarly compared to group incentive plans. In assigned group project there is the possibility that one person of the group becomes a free rider by barely or without contributing nothing productive at all to the project, in the same manner there are similar problems that can arise in group incentive plans.
There are many benefits to do assignment in-group such as getting different ideas, knowing more about yourself, increased productivity and performance and develop stronger communication skills. Lecturer should allow students to choose themselves for group assignment.
