I will start with the beginning of our group progress. So first day 04/26/18, there were only Eldan, Marni, me and Mike. Some of the students switched their group so that is the reason why were only four, yet some of them were just absent. We talked about what we want to do general and ideas of what we should do. The second day, there were six students. Although Marni did not come to class to show her presence, she was with us in the library third floor. We decided that day that it is best if we divide our parts. We specified our jobs and was clear about what we will do. The third meeting, I was absent but since I knew what was my responsibility, I ended up doing my work at home. Plus, I let them know that I will not make it to our meeting through our group message and told them to let me know if I missed anything important. The next meeting, a lot of students were late but we meet on the third floor again. This time, we changed things a little bit. Plus, we had new group member named Alyssa. She became important group member from that day. Also, we planned to add literary terms and we had one term for each person. Since we were seven students that day, we had seven literary terms. We were thinking if each of us will do our powerpoint until Kahmari volunteered to do the powerpoint himself and we just had to do our parts and send it to him. After the meeting, we all …show more content…
He replied saying he got it and that he liked the quotes. On the first page of my work, I included quotes from the story because Marni and Alyssa suggested me so that we can read few quotes to the class during the presentation. Then, other group members started asking if Kahmari got their work so I figured that we were doing fine and that everything is going as planned. On Tuesday I asked Kahmari if the powerpoint is done and he told me some students did not send their work and so it is not
During this group session, the patients were asked to identify common relapse triggers and verbalize ways in which they can avoid their triggers. The patients were provided with a handout on triggers and educated on alternative methods to avoid their triggers. The patient was oriented x 3. The patient reported that feelings of depression and being bored has caused him in the past to relapse. He shared that he is ready to be clean and is aware of his triggers. He further shared that he goals are to engage in outside activities that can help occupy his timeThe patient was oriented x 3. He actively participated in the group discussion. The patient identified his triggers as his relationship with his family members. Throughout the session, the patient
As part of the two person executive secretariat team at Embassy Baghdad, I helped support our primary Mission Iraq goals: protecting America’s security by countering violence and instability, and renewing America’s competitive economic advantage through bilateral relationships and economic reform. Our team not only directly supported the Ambassador’s and the Deputy Chief of Mission's (DCM) engagement with the highest-level Iraqi interlocutors, but also supported working level meetings and reporting from all sections at Post, including USAID and the Departments of Defense, Treasury, and Justice. In the six months since my arrival, our team has processed more than 1,000 papers. Our work, almost always completed on the day of receipt, includes editing for grammar and content, checking and securing clearances, and drafting supplementary
The group five project, ‘Solar Energy Pamphlet,’ is progressing as expected. As I am sure you remember Micheal, Ben, Teresa, and I were assigned a group project to repurpose one of our projects from unit two. We chose to use Michael’s project on solar energy and create a pamphlet that will provide information to individuals and business involved in building construction and remodeling.
These group members were Stephanie Seetoo, JasAndra Acros and Bethany Leung. We figured that there would be the most information if we chose to write about diplomat Townsend Harris (as well as Townsend Harris High School) and unanimously decided that this topic would be the best direction for our track to go into. I privately thought that this “creative writing” piece was going to be very uncreative and so I proposed that we could write from the points of view of different people that were affected by Townsend Harris’s actions. They all thankfully agreed that it would be a more interesting approach. Since a lot of the information for our characters was unknown, I was able to make a lot of creative while still realistic backgrounds to my writing piece. From then on, I had a very positive and optimistic view on the assignment and was eager to work on it and complete it with my group members. The only concern I had at that point was worrying about if my group members would do their fair share of the work. It turns out that an advantage to going to a school like Townsend Harris High School is that pretty much everyone is a good and reliable student in a group project. Together, my group and I created deadlines for our parts to be completed and managed to meet these deadlines easily. The creative aspect really helped me to feel motivated to do
There was a tremendous improvement from my first group leader discussion and my second one. I can evidently contribute some of this success to my topic, gender and sexuality, as most people felt it was a much more digestible topic than 21st-century capitalism. I have also discovered from another classmates discussion people actually enjoy sharing their opinions on deeply controversial current events, such as the transgender bathroom issue and third-wave feminism. Whereas I first avoided anything excessively controversial since I did not come to class to see people get offended and emotional. It was often during the controversial discussions, people had great critical discussions of gender and sexuality today. In my second attempt at this assignment,
What occupation did your group session address? What was the goal for group session? The occupation addressed was meal prep/setup and leisure participation. The goal was to utilize their long term memory and motivate them to recall positive, emotional memories.
Tell us about the most successful group project you have ever been a part of
Hands shaking, eyes rolling, flipping through the syllabus, I prepared myself for the group Organized Act of Kindness project. Group projects have always been dreadful for me; in high school, I was almost always the sole effort within the group. Unfortunately, due to my negative past experiences, I had a relatively negative fixed mindset going into the OAK project. Luckily, the other members of my OAK group were productive, friendly, and helpful; their attitudes and efforts helped me change my mind about group projects. By agreeing that we were all going to complete certain tasks and put in a certain amount of effort, we created a productive work environment in which we knew that no single person would be left to do the heavy lifting. Despite some bumps in the road along the way, our OAK project was ultimately a success and left us feeling positive and much closer as friends. Learning about group dynamics in class has opened my eyes and allowed me to realize that the members control how the group functions. My newfound understanding of group dynamics has translated to other aspects of my life, as I now see my role in group efforts in everything that I do.
We had to draw her out by asking direct questions. By our third meeting we flowed well everyone was comfortable and felt a true partnership. I took on the role of the talker, in efforts to help the group come to solid decisions on certain aspects of the role-play and the paper. Yvonne would reflect and summarize the conversation, so everyone had clarity of what was expected. Kiera contributed and took notes because she offered to compile the group paper. We worked well together, everyone mutually agreed on all the decisions. Group two was different we came together and discussed the assignment, however we did not do weekly meeting so there was very little time for observing behavior. Everyone was attentive and asked general questions and we worked individually. On the day of the role-play, we met to do a general review of the assignment and to confirm we had all of the components needed. I do feel our lack of interaction during the planning stage influenced our final
I attended the University of Pittsburgh Student Government Board (SGB) meeting on November 10, 2015, to see first-hand how task oriented groups function. There was a presentation after the SGB meeting about the University Strategic Plan, soliciting suggestions for the implementation phase of the plan.
I felt that my group (Cubs) presentation wasn’t as bad overall, however, there are certain areas where we all could of improved on and benefitted from this greatly. For instance, doing a PowerPoint presentation we could held a clicker. Having a clicker, looks professional because you don’t have to worry about reading your script and having someone stand by the computer in order to click to the next slide. Secondly, I feel that I could have been louder when I was presenting. I sort of can admit to my flaws without dwelling on it as much. When I speak for long periods of time, I tend to get dry mouthed. Meaning my words can come out a bit slurred and forcing the audience to not understand my message. I try to talk slow when I have to present
It was three weeks before the end of school when my freshmen English teacher finally returned after her husband’s death. I felt horrible for her and figured she forgot about the last group project she assigned. She did not in fact she assigned another group project due next week so that makes it two group projects due next week aka review week. Review week the week we all get study guides and start panicking. So I was a little anxious que anxiety attacks every other period to make matter worse my group consisting of Gabe Zac K Dalton and Maggie wasn’t even close to being done. In this stressful group project, I was treated like I was a bimbo despite this I did the best work I could because if someone treats me like I’m incompetent I’m going
The executive panel discussion focused on three main themes including resilience, re-invention and reality checks based on the career journeys of 7 panelists. A number of key points arose during the discussion including remaining resilient, the significance of networks and from plan to reality. Particularly, it was consistently agreed that it is important to remain resilient throughout your journey because opportunities will come to those who are prepared. For example, Richard mentioned, life can be a roller coaster but it is crucial to stick to your principle and success will come to you. Or as Danielle mentioned, there is always something to be gained from every single experience no matter how good or bad it is. Additionally, network is one
For two weeks I had been researching for a group project. We were studying the different organ systems in the body and my group had been assigned the Circulatory system. I remember thinking that this project was the most ridiculous assignment. What could I possibly learn about the heart that I did not already know? By the end of this project I found that the answer to that question would take a lifetime to answer. That was something I was determined to do. This group project had given me excitement, something I had never experienced in a classroom.
First of all, the things that were working well is about our different roles. We have five people in our group and two girls with three boys. For example, three boys are the “Maintenance roles” to “help the group run smoothly” (99). To be more specific, they are always talking to each other to check when we have any group works due. They also mentioned to us if there was any individual homework due. These are the roles for keeping the group on track. On the other hand, two girls were more like “task roles” and were “to help get the job done” (98). We are always divided works for our group members to finish our group projects. We also will contact every group members before our group meetings to make sure they finish their own works. Therefore, having different roles is the thing that we are working well. Then what is getting in the way is about our group meeting is on time now. When we just met each other first time, we did not know each other very well. We are kind of unconcern so most of us late for the first group meeting. However, when we talked to each other more in the first group
