Grown-Ups: Movie Analysis

To my understanding, the movie Home for the Holidays not only reveals a lot of potential family conflicts, but also reflects a lot of different communication approaches of the various family members. As a foreigner, I have never experienced Thanksgiving homecoming dinner before, so I may cannot understand some of the holiday customs in the movie, but I found out that their family interactions are interesting indeed.

Now, Fans will love that the popular vinyl figurine company, Funko, has released Pop figures of the beloved characters from the movie. This release comes with the 5th series of the Disney Funko pop collection. Funko POP offers its accurate design of Carl who stole everyone's hearts in Pixar's film about his journey after losing his love and wife. The vinyl pop appears identical to the movie character.

There are many different types of film and film genres. A film can fit into more than one genre, but there are some genres that are more general than others. Some examples of film genre are animated, science fiction, documentary, comedy, and historical fiction. Within each genre, there are also specific characteristics that help support themes and story lines within that genre.

Throughout the film Do the Right Thing, we continuously observe racial conflict that builds up to such an extreme point that it leads to a fight for power. This movie portrays the struggles and realities of a neighborhood with white and black African American people. This can be seen in many instances for example when Buggin ' Out, Radio Raheem, and Smiley march into Sal 's and demand that Sal change the Wall of Fame. Another vital instance shows the height of power struggle. It is when the huge fight starts in the street and results in Raheem being killed by a white police officer.

Over many years, Australian film and Television has increased in popularity and have been produced solely for the purpose of leisure and entertainment, however some films and TV shows, show Australian Historical depth and are an accurate representation of Australia. A prime example of this is ‘Puberty Blues’. Puberty blues was created and aired in 2012 and was a more modern take on the real life during the mid to late 1970’s. The two main characters, 13 year olds Debbie and Sue are inseparable best friends who set off through the coming of age process. Puberty Blues addresses the sexism of surf culture and youth way of life of teenagers in Australia during that time. Fashion, sexism, surf culture and the adolescence way of life are all elements that contribute to making puberty blues historically accurate.

In today’s world we are seeing a growing concern for our younger generation that is growing up with the struggles of obesity, many of them are starting to deal with the same health issues that were isolated to adults just a few years ago. In the movie Fed Up the director Stephanie Soechtig wanted to open our eyes to the issue that has gone unnoticed for so long, that fact that the food industry has been hiding the truth about our eating habits. In the movie they spoke about, “how the soda industry fund research study that help to say that soft drinks have nothing to do with obesity” (Soechtig, 2014).

The movie “Fight Club” is an American based film that was produced in 1999. The production was done after the release of a novel in 1996 by Chuck Palahniuk. The movie involved stars such as Edward Norton, Brad Pitt and Helena Bonham Carter and David Fincher is the director. An overall analysis of the video shows that it is a very disturbing film in that it questions our conscience, our phobias, obsessions, reality as well as habits. Many individuals up to date presume that it is visually stimulating, insightful and at the same time provoking.

If you have not seen Dazed and Confused than you are really missing out. It is a great movie that relates from everything to High School to Sex, Drugs, and Rock n Roll. With an outstanding cast (from the past) it is a movie that everyone can relate to. Dazed and Confused reflects the lifestyle of kids that are entering high school for the first time, to seniors owning the school and being the "man" on compass. It portrays that freshman must watch their backs at all times and if you think you're as cool as the seniors, then you better watch out. Through the major motion film First, Do no harm, they showed how a young boy struggles with epilepsy and how his family reacts. It also shows how naive humans can be to trust someone who thinks they are doing the best for a young patient because, they themselves are not educated enough on the subject of the young boy’s illness. Part 1 - In American author's 2009 book, The Help, the primary thesis is the relationship between Black maids and white households in Jackson, Mississippi during the early 1960s. The story is really told from three perspectives, Aibileen and Minny are Black women, both maids, and Skeeter is the nickname of Eugenia Phelan, daughter of a prominent White family. Skeeter has just finished school and hopes to become a writer. In general, the relationship between the Black maids and the White employers is six sided: On one side we have the White employers who have three views: 1) Their personal and private beliefs that can range from extreme scorn and bias to kindness regarding race; 2) Their public persona that must have the "proper" attitude about Blacks and "the help," and 3) Their employer attitude, which is condescending and parental. The Black view also has three segments: 1) Their personal and private beliefs that usually range from understanding not all Whites are the same and an extreme love and empathy for the White children for whom they care; 2) The public persona that is deferential, polite, and stoic to their White bosses; and 3) Their attitude and view among the Black community, which usually separates the "poor and ignorant but rich" White souls from the Black view of family and common sense. All in all, the relationship is contentious, phony, and based on economic advantage.

The way I see is that Americans are truly the villain in The Host. Americans do illegal, dangerous actions in Korean, which causes the monster, so Koreans did not like and support how the US operates in their country. For example, in the opening scene, an American ordered his Korean subordinate to dump all the dusty bottle into Han river. It is so crazy and irresponsible. Through the rest of the movie, there is an American doctor with a cross-eyed. That character looks like an idiot, and by extension make the country he represents look idiotic too. "Split" is a rated PG-13 horror movie released on January 20, 2017 that was not only written, but also directed by M. Night Shyamalan. Shyamalan is renowned in the entertainment business for his movies filled with a great deal of twists and turns. An example of some of the movies that he has written and directed with such a style are "The Sixth Sense" as well as "The Village". Split is no different and bares M. Night Shyamalan's signature style of suspenseful movies accompanied by many twists and turns.
