Your second amendment rights are being taken away. In recent years, the government has been working to create laws to ban U.S. citizens right to own firearms. Not only is it more difficult to purchase guns, in today’s world, but soon people will have to give up the guns they already own. The government believes this will stop shootings. However, gun laws will not prevent gun violence. The government has banned so many item and yet people can still get them. Which means laws and policies do not stop people. Citizens need to be able to protect themselves and their families. Even if you ban guns, that’s not going to prohibit people from getting guns if they really want them. Think about it. Drugs are illegal, yet people still use drugs. Machine …show more content…
According to Reason magazine, from 1992 - 2014, the number of civilian firearms have increased by 50%. And the murder rate has dropped by more than half. Consider that for a moment. So more guns does not equal more deaths. If it were true, then the murder rate should have increased over the past decade. So, what has changed if not the number of deaths? People. People have changed. Parents no longer know how to discipline their children. Instead of children getting the hindends busted when they do something wrong they get talks and bribes not to do bad things. Caregivers need to learn to discipline their children without bribes. Thus people are the real issue here, not access to guns. Decreased gun violence is not reliant on the number of guns in the public’s …show more content…
So, it seems that if a policy is made, it is only going to make people without guns more vulnerable and people that get them illegally more dangerous. We live in the U.S. where it is stated in the Constitution that citizens have the right to bear arms. The government wants to take away a right that our forefathers thought that we deserved. This policy has worked for hundreds of years and now that parents can not raise their children properly there is something wrong with the law? No, there is a problem with the way this generation is being raised. This generation needs to grow up and become adults and not dependant on their parents. Go out and get a job provide for themselves and their families instead of asking their parents for money. It is not completely this generations fault it is also their parent. Their parents need to refrain from babying them and make them move out and get a job. Doing this does not means you are a bad parent, it means you want your child to be able to survive on their
The term ‘gun control’ is used to show the regulation of selling, owning and use of guns. This means there is going to be a lot of controversy regarding this, making it a very touchy topic for a lot of people in the world right now. Gun control laws vary greatly, for example in places like the United Kingdom, where the gun laws are so strict that even police officers aren’t allowed to use them. Only special task forces within the police departments are. Compared to places like the United States, where there isn’t a federal gun control law in place anymore. Opponents argue that it is unconstitutional to take away kind of gun from an American citizen. They also argue that it is not the guns that commit these horrible crimes, but instead it’s the people behind the guns that commit them. But a gun is a tool that can be used for good intentions or evil intentions. And in most cases, the bad ones have a heavier effect or outcome. The US should enforce strict national gun control laws that will in the end help save the lives of men, women and children because if they do not, they will be seeing more tragedies through the country just like the one that had happened at Sandy Hook Elementary.
The gun control issue has recently created a massive uproar throughout the U.S. due to some major horrific events such as the Virginia Tech shooting in 2007, where 32 people were killed, the Sandy Hook shooting in 2012 where 27 people were killed, mostly children, and the Columbine shooting in 1999 where 13 people were killed, (CNN) as well as many others. To some, it is a crime issue, to others it’s a right’s issue. It is, obviously, a safety issue, an education issue, a racial issue, and a political issue, among others, and within each of these issues there are those who want more gun control, the Democrats, and those who
In the discussion of gun control, one of the main controversial issues is whether or not there should be more or less regulations put on firearms. In addition, another issue that comes up is whether or not those regulations will have a benefit on society. One one hand, gun regulation proponents believe that stricter regulations restricting the types of firearms and ammunition that can be purchased will reduce the amounts of crimes and make society safer. One the other hand, gun regulation opponents argue that stricter regulations infringe on the rights of citizens and only endanger society more. So what is the answer to the question? Should there be stricter
In today’s society it’s easy to find something in a newspaper, magazine, or on television that portrays the scrutiny of guns in the home. While reading or viewing such opinions it can possibly influence one to see issues in a particular way. It is not my goal to persuade you to lean in a specific direction but to see the issue from different angles. When viewing both arguments you are faced with reflecting on your own opinion and possibly agreeing more firmly with your own choice or changing your outlook and coming across the subject in a new way.
In the past few years Gun control has become a hot topic throughout America. With all the shootings going around the United States, we are faced with controversies over gun control. Americans believe that their government is going to do whatever is best for them, but is that true when they are trying to strip us of our rights that were created for us over 300 years ago. Our country has been thriving with the amendments and laws set before us, and today we are trying to change them. But by just changing a few laws is that really going to stop a criminal from getting what they wanted, there criminals for a reason. Our second amendment gives us the right to bear arms and protect our selves from enemies foreign and domestic. This is the foundation of country; we fight to keep the right that were given to us, so that we can protect our families, our country, and our freedom.
The attention surrounding the misuse of guns and how people are using them to slaughter other innocent individuals is at an all time high. This specific issue needs to be put on hold. How can we as a society tell our children when they grow up that they need to start wearing bullet proof jackets under their clothes in order to protect them from harm. The National Government needs to look into our second amendment and realize that we are in an era where it only takes one man or woman to perpetrate a mass shooting. Many innocent lives have been lost due to religious belief and terrorism. Although there are little children playing with bazookas and Ak-47s the police or army is nowhere to be found that could control the issue at hand. “Recent survey
Gun control is a topic that is heavily debated in our country and has been for a while. Since the ratification of our Constitution, the 2nd amendment has been interpreted very fluidly from many different groups and people. Ranging from the National Rifle Association who believes that our 2nd amendment right should not be restricted at all, to our current president Barack Obama, who believes the process of obtaining a gun needs to be stricter.
Miller case that made it to the supreme court in 1939. In The Handgun Control Dbate , it talks about if the 2nd amendment says if youre aloud to have a gun for militia purposes or if you can have a gun just to have one. The text writes "..spectically mention millers lack of memebership in the milita, the NBA therefore concludes that individual not in the military have a right to bear arms as long as they do some for miliarty purpose." This is important because the right to bear arm isnt only to have a gun but for other purpose too. These examples show why and how people own a gun.
The controversial issue of gun control is one of the most debatable topics among politicians and civilians alike. This is because of the complexity of gun control and the long history that is related to the subject. Gun control is typically an effort, by the government, to create legislation that regulates the sale and use of firearms within the country. There are various arguments that surround this topic which include gun-related violence, accidents, self-defense, murders, suicide, constitutional rights, and so on. James Q. Wilson, a professor who has taught at Pepperdine University, Harvard University, and the University of California, Los Angeles, and a published author of several books, take a negative stance on the subject of gun control. Wilson contributed to the gun control debate in the last few years with his written op-ed article. According to Wilson, there is no possible method to eradicate the hundreds and millions of guns that exist within the country, restrictive gun laws will not significantly affect the United States’ murder rate, and that guns play an important role in self-defense in everyday lives. Contrary to what Wilson believes, strict gun control is necessary and should be enforced to ensure public safety because gun laws have the power to produce a positive outcome in the long run, reduce gun-related violence, and reduce the numerous risks that gun ownership open.
l think it is my right as an american citizen to own a gun. In the year of 1789 on the day of September 25 congress passed a bill saying that we had the right to bear arms. This bill was was made to keep us free and safe. As an american I live in a free country and should be allowed to own guns because of the 2nd amendments. If you take away that freedom how will we protect ourselves from getting robbed or someone trying to break into our cars. How are we going to protect ourselves from anything without guns. We also use guns to stop illegal things like drug deals.
To rationalize the dilemma or the inconvenient truth to bear guns. It is rare in the US that the citizen as dupes and there are victims of oppressive regimes and must cases they are slavery of them as explain the article. But the intensive gun passion creates another dilemma in the society for example legislative solutions about gun violence. Unfortunately any gun control legislation in The United States belief in a normal right to keep any firearms and the worst of the sceneries it creates to civil
I found the article by Karimu (2015), “The Two Sides of Gun Legislation and Control Debate in United States of America,” to be detailed, well documented and, informative. The article exposes both positions of the debate regarding gun control advocate and people against. Is evident that the gun control debate is tight both positions present valid assumptions. I will definitely use this article as one of my
In my country, China, guns are so strictly controlled nationwide that people are not allowed to manufacture, sell, transport or possess any form of firearm. Offenders are punished as crimes. Why are guns so tightly controlled? The mainstream explanation is that, for the sake of social security, if everyone has a gun, society is unsafe and chaos will ensue. Is this really gonna happen? I haven’t conducted any experiment about that, but the answer might be found in some countries like the United States, where guns are legal. Five months ago, Just before I arrived in American for the first time, all my relatives kept gabbing on the gun law in America, including my mom, who had exhorted me repeatedly not to hang out on the unsafe streets after 8 pm. However, four months past and I am safe and sound, feeling it even safer to live in California than my hometown. Actually, gun ban has been being discussed during the past one hundred years in the United States. As a matter of fact, the voice of supporting gun control in the United States is not weak, and the Democratic Party, especially the Clinton administration, is
In the American Constitution it is expressly stated that “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” However, due to recent tragedy, many groups advocating gun control have called that amendment into question. These groups question, not only the amendment itself, but the provisions of this amendment and the broadness of its terms. Reformers call for action to be taken and laws to be changed, but it could be argued that the power lies in the states, not the federal government, to make those changes.
In the year of 2015 there were only four events that could be considered mass shootings. In 2014 there were a total of 51,811 gun incidents in the U.S. alone. Big number, right? That’s probably close to the amount of time some people text or say like and totally in a day. But this number represents anything from gang violence to someone accidentally shooting their foot with a twenty-two. With those numbers we should make it illegal to even think about guns right? Well, if you think that way, then you’d agree that we should ban any form of smoking, alcohol, caffeine and stress causers. The only reason that you should think the latter if you agree with strict gun control is that heart disease killed 614,348 Americans in 2014. Popular news stations
