Gun Control in the United States has gone out of control. The United States should enforce laws to not allow any guns in a house hold in order to reduce violence and crime in the country. Reducing the rate of crime in the United States, controlling big weapons, taxing ammunition, and gun collection can help make this happen. Gun Control can make this country a safer environment to live in.
The author makes several main claims throughout his articles such as, “national news stories are virtually never done on permit holders stopping mass public shootings,” and “the proposals put forward by gun control advocates wouldn’t have stopped this attack.” The columnist firmly believes in the power of the second amendment and as such, he wants to limit the amount of new laws that control how much the people can hold and use weapons. The claims listed are claims of fact and policy respectively. He gives several examples of how these different prevented mass shootings were not widely advertised and how the ones that were not stopped were all over news stations to convince people that guns are not helping the common people. The author then proposes that the changes that gun control advocates propose will not make a difference and begins to give reasons why which makes this a claim of policy. He says that making a change will not make any change so the laws should be left the same as they are now, or they should be more inclusive to allow more people to carry a concealed weapon.
The effectiveness within current gun policies in the United States of America have undeniably evoked debate, as the number of gun-inflicted fatalities continues to increase each year. An issue with such weight on a nation, has been regarded as being treated frivolously inside the United States, as many citizens query the degree of action that has been made to end this growing topic. The stance of enforcing stricter gun laws within the United States, such as limiting who may carry firearms by requiring background checks for all gun sales, has been argued by many. For many Americans, gun control can be regarded as either being the solution to reducing gun violence, or a complete violation to their Second Amendment. For an issue like gun control, that could possibly impact an entire nation, partiality becomes easily entangled in discussions that surround the topic. News sources inside the United States, such as The New York Times, as well as certain foreign news sources, such as Al Jazeera, employs data to support a particular position, rather than personal opinion. When analyzing certain sources from foreign countries, such as Pravda, and their account on the United States’ growing gun concern, there is an undeniable degree of extreme dogmatism surrounding the approach in solving gun-induced violence.
Gun control has become a very important topic within the United States after the past couple of months. There have been many issues that have occurred to make people think that banning guns is something we need to invest in, even though that just would not be the greatest option. There are many parts to winning a debate on gun control. One always needs to be sure to view both sides of the issue, look at the causes and the effects of the issue, and being sure one has enough facts and statistics to back up any information used. Given the research and studies conducted on the idea of gun control, there is enough evidence to show that gun control would not work and would badly damage the societal structure of the United States.
Weapons have been a big problem to the United States for many years now. People have access to many weapons just as easy as the US Military does. The people of the US can both go to a gun store and buy a weapon at the age of sixteen, or they can make a deal with anyone in the streets of the US. Because of the accessibility to weapons, Americans can cause collateral damage in the neighborhood they live in. They can also commit robbery, or go anywhere and start shooting.
Statistical analysis about states in the U.S. proves the correlation between strict gun control policies and deaths related to firearms to the least extent. According to an article published by Richard Florida on CityLab, a research shows that states with stricter gun control have fewer gun-related fatalities. The study in the article was conducted by researchers at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and Harvard School of Public Health. Researchers measured “legislative strength” of gun control policies in each state using data from Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence. Specifically, the elements that the researchers include when accounting for “legislative strength” are:
In the past half decade, there has been a rise in violence not only in the State of Indiana, but nationwide as well. The violence has been anywhere from mass school shootings that have devastated the nation to murders that have led to huge racial debates. The school shootings have even been close to home, including the Purdue University incident. Although gun control may help lower the percentage of violent acts, criminals will still be able to obtain guns through the black market. With the black market being more accessible to criminals, gun control could make it more difficult for law-abiding citizens to defend themselves. Also, with restrictions on owning firearms, it could make the citizens feel less safe. Whether it’s considering making a gun harder to obtain through a more rigorous background check or limiting the amount of ammunition one is allowed to buy at one time, the law-abiding citizens still have a right to own a firearm.
Gun control in the United States is a controversy that is talked about every single day. The topic of gun control tracks back from when the second amendment was created. Since 1791 when the second amendment was instituted, individuals of the United States have had no issue with it until the 20th century. When people started speaking about open carry and talking about which kinds of guns were allowed to be bought and registered for civilian usage. Questions ranging from why it was necessary for a civilian to carry an AR-15, was controversial because people thought that there was no reason for someone to carry that unless you were in the military and have a thorough background check.
In this section the author talks about the Second Amendment how it is strangely phrased and for most of American history, its meaning was thought to be somewhat murky. “A well-regulated militia composed of the body of the people, being the best security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
Imagine this: you are in World History class at your high school almost falling asleep learning about Ancient China. It is a normal day for you and your classmates, until you hear an announcement from the principal. You expect the typical lockdown drill, but this situation is far from typical. A man with a gun breaks into your school. BANG! Several of your classmates are killed before this man can be controlled. You survive, but live the rest of your life thinking back to that day and wonder if you could’ve done anything differently. What you should be asking yourself is how did this crazy man get a gun? Although this situation is hypothetical, it has occurred several times in the United States. This is due to the loose gun laws of the United States. The Second Amendment protects the right for all citizens to have guns to form militias and fight against a tyrannical government. While this was built into the original constitution, it is causing many unnecessary problems in the U.S. today. Also, this definition carries little weight with militias no longer existing today. The United States should reassess gun control laws, resulting in decreased gun violence, and ultimately saving countless innocent lives.
Gun control has and will always be a highly debated topic in the United States. There have been several violent tragedies in the past like the ones at Sandy Hook Elementary School, San Bernardino, California and Aurora and Columbine, Colorado involving guns; making this topic an even more highly argued topic. A large segment of American citizens feel these incidents were a direct result of not having stricter gun laws in our country. Many are calling for our government to implement stricter gun laws to ensure that events like these never happen again. Both sides of the aisle are well represented on this topic. One side wants more restrictions on attaining and the use of guns. On the other side, many feel that stricter gun control laws are
Living a life in America, we all get to have all the rights that included in the Constitution. One of those was the Second Amendment which is the rights to bear arm, the purpose was to protect ourselves from danger but nowadays a lot of people have take advantage of it and use it in the wrong way. I believe our government need to have a strict limit on guns possession.
There are gun control laws to try and reduce the number of violent shootings that occur. They are trying to put limits on weapons that Americans can own. The government is trying to take our guns away mainly because of people that are criminally insane. Most of the people who commit crimes don’t even have the weapons legally. If the government takes away the rights of people who are allowed to have firearms in their possession, it will most definitely cause an outrage. Most people believe that the people should be more capable of maintain proper use of the firearms instead of having them all taken away. Taking the firearms from Americans away would cause a lot more problems than there actually are. The people will be upset with the
