Many of us assume we must either oppose or support gun control. Not so. We have a range of alternatives. Even this way of speaking oversimplifies our choices since there are two distinct scales on which to place alternatives. One scale concerns the degree (if at all) to which guns should be abolished. This scale moves from those who want no abolition (NA) of any guns, through those who want moderate abolition (MA) - to forbid access to some subclasses of guns - to those who want absolute abolition (AA). The second scale concerns the restrictions (if any) on those guns that are available to private citizens. This scale moves from those who want absolute restrictions (AR) through those who want moderate restrictions (MR) to those who want no
Gun control is a very big issue in the United States today. Many people don't agree with the gun control laws that they have today. Gun control laws only take guns away from law-abiding citizens. Many people have their own reasons for owning a gun. Why would the government want to make it harder for people to own a gun? People that own guns are not very likely to be attacked by criminals. Owning a handgun is one of the best ways of protection. The second amendment states "the right to bear arms" does this grant everyone a right to own a gun? Gun control laws have not been proven to do anything for citizens. Gun control laws just make it harder for a good guy to own a gun. Gun control laws are not a good idea.
Gun Control has been a hotly debated issue for many years. In modern American politics gun control is debated between the left, who seeks to increase gun control laws, and the right, who seek to protect gun ownership. Gun Control should not be enacted because Gun Control Laws
The rise in cases of gun violence and related incidences of assault has drawn the public to the issue of guns and gun control. Such has been evident within the spheres of politics especially with the last election period seeing the incumbent president Donald Trump suggesting on stringent gun control laws. However, despite the acknowledgment of the need to have better gun laws, much ground and consensus has never reached. Such, to an extent, contributed to the current lack of political goodwill within the country to have the necessary legislations enacted to facilitate the same on the controls (Grandy 23). Of the guns under question are the assault rifles. Like the military weapons, assault rifles have a destructive potential to causing
Guns under the control of the government are able to show who is buying the guns and is able to tax the guns. Gun control is the set of laws or policies that regulate the manufacture, sale, transfer, possession, modification, or use of firearms by civilians. I chose to do
Gun Control Paper Gun Control has been an issue that has been brought to the public’s eyes in recent years. This main issue has been going on for many years, for example when John F. Kennedy was assassinated; it raised public awareness to the lack of control on sales and also possession of guns in America. Until 1968 guns were available over the counter in stores and through mail catalogs to just about any adult in America. This was an example of how loosely guns were regulated which bring us back to the issue of guns. The constitution tells us in the second amendment that we, as American Citizens, have the right to bear arms. But the government is trying to change that by regulating everything to do with owning a gun. My stance: Gun
The second amendment of the United States reads, “a well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed” (Constitution). This has started a huge debate on whether or not this should be true.
Gun control is a very divisive subject in our country today. It is so divisive because some people really think they should be able to own their personal guns. However some people disagree with this. Over the last couple of years gun violence has been increasing dramatically. The United States
In order to understand the issue of gun control, one must know the position or view of each of the three sides involved; the first being about people in favor of gun control. As stated in the introduction, people who side with the Democratic Party tend to be in favor of writing and passing laws that allows guns to be controlled in order to protect the people. People who are for gun control believe that most of the crimes committed in cities and towns around the United
Gun Control Gun control Gun Control With the possible exception of abortion, no other current issue has split the country in two like the debate surrounding gun control. Both sides are equally adamant. The pro gun side, as represented by the National Rifle Association, continues to oppose all gun control measures primarily on the grounds that any law restricting gun ownership is unconstitutional....
Gun control is one of the most talked about topics in modern day America. 43 of 50 states have the right to bear arms. Most states have to background check you in order for you to purchase or sell guns. Some other states prevent carrying guns and some other ban assault rifle weapons. People who support the gun laws say that the second amendment was meant for militias and that gun restrictions have always existed. People who oppose that say that guns are needed for self-defense from people who invade houses or are actual threats. Although both of those are correct, there will always be two sides for control laws.
The second part of reforming the Republican Party involves enacting stricter gun regulations to decrease the amount of gun violence in the United States. The official policy from the Republican platform believes that all law-abiding citizens should have the right to own guns (2016 Republican Party Platform). However, recent mass shootings in California and Texas has called into question on whether the regulations that are in place are enough, or if there should be tougher background checks and restrictions on guns. The Republican Party’s current stance on these recent shootings has caused a massive backlash from the media and the public, which is resulting in a rapid decrease in popularity. The American public is dismayed when they turn on the news and see reports of another mass shooting causing unnecessary deaths because of gun violence and Republican politicians are attacked on the media for not taking the necessary action of stricter gun regulations. However, with this new stance the Republicans will now support more detailed background checks and restrict the type of guns that can be owned by regular citizens. This will be heavily supported by most liberal groups but disapproved by the almost all conservative groups. Groups like the Solid Liberals, Faith and Family Left, and the Next Generation Left believe that the government controlling gun ownership should be implemented due to the increase of mass shootings. However, groups that are far right, the Young Outsiders,
The legality of having guns and possessing firearms in the United States of America is well engraved within the Second Amendment of the nation’s constitution. However, the issue of gun regulation has remained a central topic in America’s public. Some people advocate for a total ban on gun possession, while others are totally against this idea. The shooting incident in Las Vegas weeks ago has raised controversial debates in the United States of America. In fact, the White House is concerned on the stand that President Trump will take on the issue of stricter gun laws. One of the cities that has gained the attention of both the legislators on this topic is Chicago. For its reputation for its low rate of gang arrests, lax punishments for gun law violations, and comparatively weak laws in accordance with surrounding states, it is justifiable to say that Chicago’s daily shootings are a clear indicator that strict state gun laws don’t work.
