Gun Control Should Be Banned

The second amendment states “a well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed” and was written over 200 years ago. It is one of the most equally used tool when debating the topic of gun control by both sides of the argument. It is outdated in today’s world, written in a time where the concept of a firearm was one which involved reloading between every discharge, and the intended use was by the states to protect themselves. However, it is still included in our constitution and is a right of being an American. We each have the right to choose to arm and protect ourselves, we were given that right by the government. That same government establishes laws and regulations designed to keep the citizens of the United States safe. The limits they instill onto us in our daily lives are not infringements on our rights, but are regulations. Gun control should have regulations and at times carrying firearms should be banned, especially on college campuses. College campuses are swarming with “new adults”, most of whom are still in their teens and are often living on their own for the very first time. They are learning how to make decisions for themselves and are figuring out who they want to become. College is designed to help them in this process.
