Gun Laws Guns have been around for hundreds of years. Many wars, murders, and accidents involving guns have happened since then. Some may say that is awful, but many questions come into play. Would we be free without some of the wars? Was the murder actually in self-defense? How many gun accident deaths are there compared to cars, alcohol, drugs, and so forth? Gun Control laws violate the rights of US citizens and leave individuals and our country more vulnerable than we are with guns. The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." This clearly shows that we have a right to own guns which is not a freedom that we should have taken away. If the government were to take this right away from us, it could be the starting point of the money thirsty spending machine (Dysphemism for government) changing other amendments and taking away our freedoms. The Second Amendment also talks about a well regulated militia being a necessity. I believe that is also true because our country is very unpopular to other countries, and if we were under attack, I believe people should not just hide and be afraid but be able to fight back. This is why the Second Amendment should still allow people to own guns. Sure we already have a background check on most gun purchases, but will a new and more in-depth check really help?
