Gun related crimes and accidents are more common involving people who live with gun owners. If firearms are locked and unloaded, it prevents others in the house from getting hold of them. Gun safety is taught in CCW classes, but not all gun owners are required to take this class. In Ohio, it is not required to take a gun safety class to purchase a firearm. The CCW class is only required as permission to conceal the weapon. Educating all gun owners on the importance of keeping firearms locked and unloaded will prevent them from getting into the wrong hands. Education will help them to understand the importance of not playing with firearms if they do come across them. Opposing views are that guns are dangerous and should be illegal. I agree guns
Some gun advocates often suggest the more law abiding citizens that have guns the less crime there will be. Gun control advocates will argue the opposite, and that no guns are better. People will always have their opinions on guns and gun control but most gun owners people are very responsible. This includes the safety of taking care of guns and putting them safely away. Keeping firearms locked up, trigger-locked, stored separately from their ammunition, or some combination of the three, the gun advocates, as well as non-gun owners, believe less accidents would occur. It is possible that this could make guns if gun owners took these actions. Statistics show that every year thousands of guns are stolen each year and end up in criminal’s hands because of improper handling and storage of guns. People sometimes abuse their rights to the second and fourteenth amendment. Sometimes guns do end up in the hands of irresponsible people. Thousands of people are killed, injured because of careless people leaving guns
Schools across the nation have hired a police officer to patrol the buildings throughout the school. With an officer patrolling a school’s campus all day, fewer acts of gun violence would occur. The students would feel much safer if there was an officer patrolling the campus all day long. Also when an act of violence occurs on a campus, the officer patrolling would be able to react quickly and hopefully stop the violence. An officer at a school can do a lot more than protect the members throughout the school though. Schools will hire officers that have first aid training. Officers could respond to an emergency before any medical help can arrive. However, school officers might use extreme force on a student, and people think that is unnecessary.
After any mass murder incident, such as a school shooting, the public usually looks towards congress to pass legislation to prevent future incidents from occurring. This where the debate of gun control and effectiveness comes in to play. There was an article written, “Laws That Bit The Bullet: A Review of Legislative Responses to School Shootings”, the effectiveness of legislation passed in the United States in the aftermath of mass shooting events. “This paper examines the legislative responses of three school shootings— Westside Tech (Jonesboro, AR), Columbine High School (Littleton, CO), and Virginia Tech (Blacksburg, VA)” while giving a brief history of overall gun control legislation within the United States.
Allowing teachers to carry guns will allow teachers to prevent school shootings on the grounds of preschool through college campuses. Everyone has their own opinion about teachers being able to carry guns including other teachers, parents, and government officials. Depending on what state the teacher is teaching in determines if they can carry their gun now, if they are in the process of being able to, or if their state is not passing a law to allow them to carry their gun while at school. Teachers would not stand out like police officers or security officers would while in the school which would allow for other teachers and all of the students to have normal days if schools did not have officers before. Research shows that allowing some teachers to carry guns in their school promotes school safety, protects the teachers and students, and promotes gun safety while still teaching their students.
As you are learning in school you and your friends hear talk about a shooter on the school campus with a gun and you hear gunshots in the hallway what do you do now? That's what happened to Columbine High School on April 20, 1999. Two shooters Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold who attended Columbine High School. Eric and Dylan sought out to kill as many people as they possibly could. The pair was able to get weapons from an outside source who was passed all the gun regulations at the time then the source gave the guns to the shooters. There was no way gun control laws could of prevented this tragic school shooting. The goals in this essay is explain how stricter gun control laws would not have prevented the school
Although most people have argued that gun control laws should be regulated in schools, closer examination shows that having trained/licensed faculty could prevent further shootings. All school faculty should go through an examination process where not only is their mental health checked but they are also licensed to have a gun. A lot debate that it is going to cost a great amount of money to be able to administer these licenses but with a small budget reduction for other activities the efforts can be made to make a safer environment for any student and employee. Looking back to all school shootings there was one key element missing in all of them: Protection within the school. Multiple examples from Columbine High School shooting or Sandy Brooks
Gun violence continues to dominate national headlines. On average, the gun violence epidemic leaves a child or teen wounded or dead every hour in the United States, resulting in 47 American children and teens shot every day, and culminating to ___ shot every year. Deaths related to gun violence are now the third leading cause of death for American children. And these statistics are based solely on the actual deaths, but does not account for those exposed to this brutality—friends, family members, and other children who are psychologically damaged and struck with fear in their hearts.
“From all these friends, I could not escape learning some of the statistics that I preferred not to know. Forty-one people at the mall had been wounded. Nineteen had died. Everyone said it was a miracle that only nineteen perished. What has gone wrong with our world when nineteen dead can seem like any kind of miracle?” - Renowned author Dean Koontz.
“Evil does not exist within a gun. It exists in the minds and hearts of those who pull the trigger for evil purposes.”- Samuel L. Jackson. People seem to think that guns are the problem when really the person behind it is the problem. Guns are made for us to protect ourselves when danger is near not for us to use it when we want to harm others. The school shooting has been a big deal for the last couple of months. It doesn’t seem to make sense for people to do those horrible things to students who go to school to get an education. People who use guns to commit a massacre end up killing themselves after they are done. We end up finding out that the person who committed the mass murder had mental issues and didn’t know what he/she was doing. Students are afraid of going to
“Ban guns and only criminals will have guns, we are told (Milligan, Susan).” Mrs. Milligan has a valid argument with the number of acts of violence committed with firearms by citizens with no prior violent criminal history, as well as children. There have been a number of seemingly avoidable murders committed with firearms in recent years and the count is steadily rising. I agree that there should be some precautions be in place in the process of buying and selling firearms, there should be a check on violent criminal history and unlawful tendencies. There are background checks in place and when you purchase a firearm it is registered to you and the serial number corresponds to your name in the governments system.
Middle Schools gets shot up by young male, former Seal shot and killed, 5 men shot and killed. It over flows the news and different people withholding different thoughts are reacting to the scenarios in different ways. If you look into the eyes of all the people that have shot up a school or are convicted of a murder, you can clearly examine the insanity lying within them. People riot the streets of the biggest cities blurting out, “Disarm all citizens” or “Ban all Guns” and these people don’t realize that the guns aren’t the reason these people are dying. The real reason behind all these killings is that there are people out there with serious health condition
The most children bring to gun inside for backpacks went schools make sure check. I think children take a steal in gun from home with parents use a left something. Never to justice system about children in school for the gun is still a safe side. Becuase doesn't allow bring to school have a reason, more fact that most people want that is killed to possess with teacher, staff, and etc that happens. For children is not listen to kill about guns self in a provides when people have hurt them still a problem. Should to gun safety in school can't bring to catch something backpacks about that show in often. For students use handguns on school entering is happen are wrong them because social media is playing a show up on campus.
A lot of people believe that the best alternative would be to have a hired security guard or law enforcement guarding the school at all times. This idea is better because it allows the teachers to be at peace by not having to worry about if they would be ending a life. "If I'm going to have a gun on the premises I'd rather have a resource officer who has been trained," Martin said. "If I'm going to defend myself in the community, I'm not firing around potentially 1,000 kids." By hiring security the school would be protected from any intruders. Security would be trained to shoot with precision at any gunman. The security could also help protect against violence within the school. If a fight breaks out, a security guard would be able to stop
There have been a number of mass shooting incidents in schools recently. This violence has caused many casualties and injuries, most recently to innocent children. They never got the chance to grow up and live their lives. These unnecessary shootings have become a normal part of our lives. There are many adults and children who never got the chance to grow up in a world where they truly felt safe. People should not have to live in a constant state of fear when they leave or enter their homes. Adults and children leave their homes every day to go to work or school, but some never make it back home. We need to lessen the problem of gun violence.
Guns hold a lot of responsibility, wouldn’t you agree? Should we really trust all school staff member to watch over that gun and to keep students away from it? Guns are dangerous. Just recently the deaths caused by guns became more common than the deaths from a car accident. Lately, the arming of teachers has been a very controversial issue. With the uprise in school shootings, many people believe guns are the option, but they don’t realize the issues that go along with having guns inside a school. Even with teachers and staff taking the appropriate measures to carry a gun inside a school, the students aren’t also going having the same training that teachers are receiving. Teachers shouldn’t be able to carry guns in schools because students will become afraid, kids get their hands on everything, and it is a massive burden for the teacher in the event of a shooting.
