Should Gun control have more restrictions or less restrictions? This issue has been going around for a really long time. The second amendment helps balance the situation because of course it is the right to bear arms, and having more restrictions is where it balances it out. You have the right to have a gun, but restrictions are needed. The best way gun control is measured is generally by surveys taken by people. Gun control really becomes an issue when there is crime, shootings, self-defense, etc. Some states have had different acts for different reasons and it all just depends on the situation the state is in. The main concern about gun control is safety for the people, and that is the issue. More restrictions for less deaths, or less for …show more content…
The pro of the second amendment does not necessarily mean you have all rights to own a gun, which balances the right to own a gun. There are many innocent people that die, and a good chunk of the deaths can come from being in contact with a person who welds a gun. More gun control laws can decrease the amount of deaths from guns and lower the overall death percentage. The con is allowing more ownership of guns, which causes all the deaths with guns. Guns are rarely used for self-defense, which means the possibility of being robbed are not very high. The government does not understand what criminals are capable of and they do not have any remarks of breaking laws or killing people. Both, pro and con side have good explanations as to why gun control is helping the people or not. The government wants to protect the citizens of America as much as they can so they will enforce more gun laws but at the same time all more ownership of guns.” If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun.” This allows citizens of America to defend themselves from active shooters who are targeting you. It is a right to defend yourself from
Gun Control in America has been argued back and forth for decades past. On one side it is strongly believed that the Second Amendment suggests that individual citizens have a constitutionally protected right to own a gun and protect themselves. These individuals believe that gun control laws do not in fact reduce gun violence. On the other side it is said if Gun Control laws are enacted there would be less gun and school violence. Also, it would be harder for criminals and juveniles to obtain a firearm. Both sides have very valid arguments and historical evidence to back their positions on within this debate.
Gun control is a vital necessity to the welfare of our nation. Many people out there are supporting the “anti- gun control cause” with the excuse of “self-defense”. I believe that not everyone will handle a gun for self-defense. The possession of a gun is a sign of power. One of the bigger ambitions that one has is to have power and the easier it is to obtain a gun; the faster a criminal will gain power over an innocent person. When one is in possession of a gun, that person has complete control of their actions and may act upon the weapon however the person may please even if they know that their action will cause harm to defense-less people. There are many deaths caused by guns out there that could
News is all around us and is readily available to everyone. There are many flaws in the system that hurts the authenticity of the news when you see it. The media is indirectly part of the political system. Most news is either considered liberal or conservative by many.
Gun control in the United States has been a controversial issue for some time now. So much so that the Supreme Court even refuses to address this issue directly. Gun control really boils down to the the Second Amendment of the Constitution. Many people have different interpretations of the Second Amendment and the trenches are dug in deep on this issue. The Second Amendment can not provide the right to bear all types of arms to protect the people from governmental tyranny. If the Second Amendment was absolute, then we would allow the public to possess nuclear weapons, missiles, and other such arms, because like the 9 mm handgun that is an arm, a nuclear warhead is also a type of arm. The more our government restricts our rights to own
Gun control is a very big issue in the United States today. Many people don't agree with the gun control laws that they have today. Gun control laws only take guns away from law-abiding citizens. Many people have their own reasons for owning a gun. Why would the government want to make it harder for people to own a gun? People that own guns are not very likely to be attacked by criminals. Owning a handgun is one of the best ways of protection. The second amendment states "the right to bear arms" does this grant everyone a right to own a gun? Gun control laws have not been proven to do anything for citizens. Gun control laws just make it harder for a good guy to own a gun. Gun control laws are not a good idea.
Most pro-gun ownership often supports their argument with the Second Amendment. However, the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution doesn’t include or mention what types of firearms can be used for self-defense. It would be common sense to limit the sale of guns to handguns or small weapons to protect one’s life. America has the Second Amendment mainly because of the history and it’s been a long tradition of the American people. And it has been further reinforced when the Revolutionary war began and armed civilians or militias won America’s freedom. People don 't think about much of this history anymore, they care more for what the law states rather than how it got started or why it’s been implemented. And because of this lack of interest “attempts to restrict a citizen’s right to own a gun evoke
To begin with, we must take a look toward both stands on gun control. It is important to get factual information on both sides of an argument. More so, to form an opinion based on my research. First off, many people who oppose more strict gun control, choose to refer to the Constitution, in order to plea their case. The Second Amendment is clearly understood: “Its purpose is to protect the right to keep and bear (i.e., own and carry) arms, in order that (among other things) a well-regulated militia may be maintained”(Scaliger 31). “The Supreme Court has also affirmed a reading of the 2nd Amendment by which individual citizens have the fundamental right to own and bear arms for the purposes of self-defense against violence or tyranny”(Scaliger 31). Many Americans take pride in gun ownership and are law abiding citizens. Even first-hand I’ve bared witness to my father who is a legal carrier. On one occasion, he said a statement along the lines of “It is not fair to the ninety nine point nine percent of carriers who are law abiding, to have more restrictions, due to the select few who take advantage of
Gun control is one of the most talked about topics in modern day America. 43 of 50 states have the right to bear arms. Most states have to background check you in order for you to purchase or sell guns. Some other states prevent carrying guns and some other ban assault rifle weapons. People who support the gun laws say that the second amendment was meant for militias and that gun restrictions have always existed. People who oppose that say that guns are needed for self-defense from people who invade houses or are actual threats. Although both of those are correct, there will always be two sides for control laws.
Gun Control is very controversial many people believe that there is nothing wrong with the gun control laws in place right now. The Republican Party and The Democratic Party has different views on Gun Control. Many tragedies have occurred such as school and mass shootings. This year gun-related shootings have increased. The Second Amendment is the right to bear arms which can be interpreted differently by others. Specifically, the 2nd Amendment states A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. Gun Control Laws should be strict throughout all states in order to insure the safety of others.
It is essential that the United States government implement the following three policies to protect the lives of its citizens: mandate a gun amnesty program, require owners to pass tests and insure their weapons, as well as prevent persons lacking mental capacity from possessing such deadly weapons.
The US has a numerous set of laws needed to be abided by in order to own or carry a gun. In certain states you have to have more of a reason to purchase a gun than in others. The government and federal law has the mentality that guns are what kill people, so they try to do their best and try to prohibit as much of guns or gun accessories as possible. When in fact it isn’t the gun that is killing people, it is people that kill people.
Gun control is a rising issue in the nation due to mass shootings and murders happening everyday. The 2nd amendment states “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” The argument that guns should be banned is foolish, because the facts are is that criminals will get guns and weapons no matter what. Also, the law abiding citizens deserve a way to protect themselves and their families.
Living a life in America, we all get to have all the rights that included in the Constitution. One of those was the Second Amendment which is the rights to bear arm, the purpose was to protect ourselves from danger but nowadays a lot of people have take advantage of it and use it in the wrong way. I believe our government need to have a strict limit on guns possession.
Gun control is probably one of the most debatable concerns in the constitution. There are many scenarios in which you can see the good in pro-gun control and also other scenarios where con-gun control is good. Gun control should not be a plan the U.S government should take because there are many cases in which a firearm will determine you from death or life. And the right to carry a firearm is like the right to protect our freedom, and to self defend ourselves. Firearms are used defensively roughly 2.5 million times per year, more than four times as many as criminal uses. This amounts to 2,575 lives protected for every life lost to a gun. (SAF) The people that are most concerned by this issue are those that have lost someone close to them
My personal view on gun control is for less gun control. It makes no sense the way people place most of the blame on the tool instead of the person. The second amendment is in our constitution on our founder's belief that we should be able to own a gun to protect our liberties. Looking back in history it was privately owned guns which helped colonist defend themselves from British rule. Meaning that if our government where get out of hand we the people would have the means to defend ourselves. We are lucky to be able to do this since many other countries control their citizens lives and are unable to fight back. Gun laws are punishing laws abiding citizens. The media placing the blame of school shootings on guns is ridiculous. These are merely
