Personal space, body language, and overall interaction between the participants in the gym was something that I hadn't paid enough attention to in the past, from the distance I could see that their interests. The intimate couples that I noticed in the gym seemed again sought to have created a private space for them by erecting invisible barriers through their private body language directed only at each other, resulting in considerable more space between these couples and other groups of people in the gym. It was a clear and present body language of please do not bother us attitude left a sense of diffused power that would be involved power relationships that operate without covert commands and requests. The dynamics of the couple was …show more content…
To understand what, is the difference between the two gyms that I have so far visited, I went to look at, Bally's which is a gym that is open to attracting males and females ages 18-40. It is a group that best resembles the general population. I went with, James my significant other because his sister, Samantha had given him a free membership for his up coming birthday. To see this as the girlfriend and as the budding sociologist was an adventure. What many people do not realize is Bally's Sports clubs is only apart of the company, as with my university gym, it is a apart of a system. Along with fitness centers, they also have their own products; again, the similarities are the same. On the car ride over, I was asked to read the membership documents by a very excited James, to discover that Bally's mission statement is "to be your total fitness resources by providing quality service and outstanding faculties to help you achieve results YOUR way". What I noticed is that the facilities do the part of staying close to the company
I had a hard time finding a career. All the careers I came across did not interest me at all. Until a friend came up with the idea of the career of athletic training. That is when I started my research and my interest grew greater.
An Analysis of the U.S. Health Club Industry in 2004 and the Role of Bally Total Fitness
Upon arrival, I estimated about 15-20 personal scattered throughout the room on various body equipment. I noticed that I was the youngest person there; everyone else (by the looks) was ranging from late 20’s to early 50’s. The first significant aspect that I always realize is that there are more males than females, typically a 4:1 ratio. The diversity of race/ethnicity was noticeable but not really a concern towards the atmosphere of the gym. Before I started the observations I did run on the treadmill so that the gym visit wasn’t a total waste. Afterwards, my observation was done in the corner with the mats, while I stretched for twenty-five minutes.
Advertising plays a huge role in why people buy what they buy. This paper will discuss the different techniques used by brands in order to appeal to the intended group they are targeting. Some brands try to appeal to the most amount of people possible. However, some brands have a specific niche of people they try to appeal to. McDonalds is an example of a brand that tries to appeal to everyone. It has a general message that everyone can get behind, and they market it correctly. This is why they are one of the biggest brands in existence. However, Gymshark is a brand that tries to appeal to a specific niche of people. Their goal is to be the next Nike. They try to appeal to athletic people, who workout very often. Their products are similar to Nike, but they are specifically

Bally Total Fitness is a public firm in the U.S. health club industry. Since 1962, the company had developed into a large and nationwide commercial operator of fitness centers in the Unite States. But with the increasingly fierce market competition and the internal management problems such as poor accounting standards, the stock price of the company collapsed. Some shareholders had lost faith in the company. A major shareholder of the company was urging the CEO to sell the company. So the company faced two alternatives, one alternative was to sell the company to meet the demand of shareholders; the other alternative was to strengthen its internal control system to remedy the management fault. In this way to restore the
I had the amazing privilege to observe Erin Herrmann, who is the head athletic trainer at Putnam City North High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The reason why she was chosen for my observation hour was because she has the job that I am yearning to obtain after I earn my master’s degree in athletic training. This occupation is completely relevant to exercise physiology because athletic trainers have the opportunity to help injured athletes to recover by creating, facilitating, and assisting athletes with their rehabilitation assignments.
The section where I saw the most determination was while observing the cardio room. During my observations I noticed there was no social interaction whatsoever. People were just concentrated on doing their workout and getting the results that they were seeking. One example of this taking place was when I was observing a woman who looked about 30-40 years old. She had earphones on as she was doing her routine. She was wearing exercise appropriate

Incidental exercise is where you are doing little chunks of physical activity whilst you are living you daily lives, such vacuuming and mowing the grass. In these activities you are using more than one muscle with the pushing and pulling motion, because you are using your muscles they need oxygen that's where you heart steps in.your heart beats faster and your breathing rate increases. If you don't exercise your muscles they start to make acid and that makes tiny tears in your muscles and stops them from growing With doing these activities at home you can lower your blood pressure and reducing strain on your heart also
Americans love their sports. People are constantly watching games like football, basketball, baseball, soccer, and volleyball live and on TV. There are many factors that go on during sports that keep them going. We all know about the coaches, players, fans, referees, and team owners, but on of the most important part is sometimes forgotten. That part happens to be athletic trainers. Athletic trainers make sure the athletes stay in good health and make sure that athletes recover from injuries so that they can return to the game. Athletic trainers also help prevent injuries from happening. Being an athletic trainer is a career path that involves many years of education and practice. Athletic trainers seem to go unnoticed at many sporting events, but in fact, have to go through tons of education and training and are a major part in health in sports.
From all the question that I asked, pretty much everyone answered with an immediate answer with good information. From asking questions I was able to to see the different classes that they had available forming dancing, aerobics, to open studios for yourself and friends as long as you are using the room. What the REC taught me is that there are many ways to be physically active and you can also enjoy it even more especially with friends. I noticed a huge difference when I was in the treadmill by myself compared to playing games and staying active with my friends. I noticed a huge difference within myself because I wanted to play longer and win which what was very
I strongly disagree with this issue because I find it unfair for an athlete, who is physically involved all year round, to be forced to take a gym class while they could be taking another elective or a block class. Many doctors say to maintain a healthy, in shape body you should exercise at least 30 minutes five days a week. My gymnastics practices are anywhere from three to four hours, six days a week. That is well over the recommended amount of exercise I need per day. Secondly, at Arrowhead, classes are usually 44 minutes. Taking into account, you need time to change in and out of your uniform which would take a few minutes away from class. If I’m practicing at least four times more than what a gym class does each day, then I don’t see the
One such example of a gym is Lifetime Fitness in Collierville Tennessee. driving past it, one would hardly even guess it was a gym. Lifetime is a towering building with large glass windows framing nearly the entire exterior, almost resembling an office building the likes of which one would expect to see in a place like New York or Los Angeles. Stepping into the parking lot, signs of activity are already evident; children’s laughter, the splashing of water and the whistle of the lifeguard can be heard in the distance from the large outdoor pool that extends from the left side of the building.
As I got an invitation to go to open gym with my friends, my main thoughts were, “I hope I can get some new skills tonight.” Little did I know, my thoughts about four hours later would be, “I have never been so upset, angry, or disappointed in my life.” As I walked into the cold, noisy gym, I was prepared to achieve my round off back handspring back tuck. I assured myself that I would be able to do it successfully. I wished that the ground was as soft and comforting as the dark trampoline with orange and blue bumpers. Seeing girls doing back walkovers on the thin, beige, four- inch beam, swinging their bodies around the slippery, uneven bars, and flipping themselves into the sky blue, squishy mat made me tell myself, “If they can do that,
