Origins

Hades was born from Cronos and Rhea. Like his other brothers and sisters, hades was eaten by his father but did not die. Although, one baby was hidden away by Rhea, Zeus. Zeus, once grown up, came back to attack Cronos and the titans. He freed his brothers and sisters, letting them escape beginning the war against Cronos and his titans. Once the war was over and the Olympians had won, Hades became the Ruler of the underworld watching over all mortal who had died.

Hades, as stated before, is the ruler or king of the underworld. He watches and rules all mortals that souls have come to the underworld and keeps them in there. But, he was involved in something more important, The clash of the Olympians and Titans. He, along with his brothers and sisters. In the defeat of the titans, he returned to the underworld to gain rule over the souls of the dead.

Hades along with the ruler of the dead is also called the god of wealth because all of the precious metals and minerals are under the ground. Another one of his names is described as the god of fertility on earth( which will be later explained in the myths chapter). Hades is described physically as pale and always wearing black robes. His armor and weapon is tarnhelm, a helm giving the user the ability to become invisible and his weapon is a scepter. His symbols are a cornucopia, cerberus, a three headed dog, and a cypress key. Cerberus is his dog, a guard of the underworld but also his animal. The cornucopia represents fertility on earth: farming, food from farming, and seasons. The cypress key is part of his scepter.
