The case of Hae Min Lee was originally only prominent within Baltimore County of Maryland. It has the trappings of a typical high school murder; a teen is angry at their ex-boyfriend/girlfriend for breaking up with them and as a result, would murder them. However, the case has gained international attention largely due to the investigations from Serial, which revealed an abnormal number of inconsistencies within the case against Adnan Syed. Eventually, this attention culminated into the granting of a new trial for Adnan. Adnan is most likely guilty because of circumstantial evidence that demonstrate Adnan’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. After all, the use of circumstantial evidence is valid if a reasonable argument can be created. Although, …show more content…
First, according to Adnan, his romantic relationship with Hae was akin to a stereotypical high school romance. And when they broke up, he understood her decision and respected it. However, according a diary entry dated on May 15th, 1999 from Hae’s diary, which was presented in Adnan’s second trial by Debbie, Hae was exasperated by Adnan’s possessiveness and his juvenile attempts to make her jealous[1]. This contradicts Adnan’s claim that his romantic relationship with Hae was normal, as he was intensely possessive of her, suggesting that Adnan could become fervently enraged by the fact that Hae was serious about her relationship with Don, which can be symbolized by a date between Hae and Don. If this were to be true, he would be unable to endure the ignominy of losing his love interest and would murder Hae. Moreover, the fact that Adnan is being deceptive about the true nature of his relationship with Hae suggests that his possessiveness could be a factor to why he would kill Hae. Furthermore, according to Serial, Hae wrote a note to Adnan, expressing incredulity that Adnan refuses to respect her decision to break up with him[2], challenging the idea that Adnan did accept …show more content…
However, during her police interview in Serial, Nisha discusses how Adnan talked about how he was at Jay’s workplace at a video store and that Jay wanted to greet her[2]. This suggests that Adnan was lying about the fact that he was at track practice and that he was not in possession of his cell phone as well as supporting Jay’s story by placing Adnan and Jay together during the afternoon. This could indicate Adnan’s guilt because of his deceptiveness and the call’s corroboration with Jay’s story. Although, Nisha mentions that Jay worked at a video store even though he never did so until the end of January, placing doubt on whether or not Nisha did indeed talk with Adnan as well as supporting the idea that Adnan’s call was a butt-dial, supported by documents from Serial that showed that unanswered calls will be billed by AT&T if they exceed an unreasonable length of time and the type of cell phone Adnan used, a Nokia 6160, which can easily be pocket-dialed since it has no cover or a passcode mechanism. However, under scrutiny, the idea that the Nisha Call was a butt-dial can seem unlikely. For starters, the Nisha Call can be corroborated with Jay’s statements during his second interview with the police. According to Jay in Serial, as he and Adnan were driving between Forest Park and Edmondson Avenue, Adnan was calling a girl from Silver Springs and then
He wasn 't. I was like he 's a p...I 'm trying to conv-- explain I’m seventeen, like “He 's a player! He has a lot of girls!”” (Episode 2: The Breakup p. 37). Undoubtedly, Koenig asserts an exceptional point, Adnan is popular among the females in his school and he most likely isn’t completely devastated by their breakup. Although he was a bit emotional, he moved on. Others also advocated a similar statement, “But nearly everyone I’ve spoke with, Adnan’s friends and teachers say he took the breakup like anyone would. Adnan’s friend Mac Francis said Adnan initially was devastated and jealous about the new boyfriend. Said he grumbled about it in a typical guy way, nothing strange. Everyone I talked to said some version of this, that he wasn’t rage filled or vindictive. He was just sad” (Episode 2: The Breakup p. 36). Sarah Koenig asked many people and none of them announced anything extreme between Adnan and Hae after their breakup. After analyzing these pieces of evidence, one can infer the claim of being upset over Hae isn’t verified through anyone. Another component to Adnan’s innocence would be Asia McClain and the library.

Prior to the incident, Lamb had committed a number of different offences which had commenced when he was sixteen years of age. Lamb appeared in the Children’s Court Three in which he was fined and placed on probation on the occasion. In later years, Lamb convicted a number of armed robberies and other crimes; in sight had resulted in 124 charges and 12 court appearances.
Firstly, the Nisha call placed Adnan with Jay after the murder. This call could have been a butt-dial that rang for 2 minutes. The call could have been from Adnan, who wanted to make Jay talk with Nisha. The Nisha call does not prove Adnan killed Hae, as it simply just puts him with Jay at the time. Also, the prosecution stated that Adnan was constantly doing bad things. Everyone does bad things, but it does not make them murderers. Finally, Jay knew the location of Hae’s car. The fact that Jay knew the location of Hae’s car should arouse suspicion on him. The evidence utilized by the prosecution is circumstantial and can be disproved, and the lack of strong evidence proves Adnan’s
or something. And I sat down next to him. We starting chatting,” by Asia Mclean. This piece of evidence gives Adnan an abili to where he was after school and it causes us to believe that he couldn’t have killed Hae. The final piece of evidence Adnan and how he was during the
One piece of evidence that supports this theory is the fact that Jay had Adnan’s phone. During the timeframe of the murder a number of calls were made from Adnan’s phone to different people. All these calls made were only to people that Jay knew himself. Jay was in possession of Adnan’s phone before, during and after the 21 minutes in which Hae was murdered. These calls were all in the area of the murder clearly shown by the cell phone tower map. Phone records show calls to and from Jen, one of Jays best friends from high school, who Adnan had only met once or twice whilst with Jay. It doesn’t add up that Adnan would call Jen more than once, before and after the murder if he didn’t know her.

S. Ms. Tseng Wen-hui filed a lawsuit against Hsieh Chi-ta. The great poet Judy Wright once said, “Feelings or emotions are the universal language and are to be honored. They are the authentic expression of who you are at your deepest place.”; when she said this, she was talking about the idea that by sharing our emotions, we can all connect and can find out who we really are. Emotions are what make us all the same, yet different at the same time. Li- Young Lee is known for including raw, open emotions in all of his poems. Lee’s poems are first person narratives of his own life; while narrating, Lee includes and explores the thoughts and feelings that are passing through his head while certain events are occurring. The emotions that Lee focuses on, change and expand over time as he ages and grows, and make his poetry gain deeper meaning. Lee is able to find meaning from his own memories, alongside the reader; he uses an attitude of humility and open- mindedness to be able to explain raw emotions that take his poetry beyond the normal ideas of literature. By exploring his emotions and feelings instead of shying away from them, Lee is able to transition from his past to the present, develop his own sense of identity, and connect to the reader.
Lan Xueruo thoroughly inspected Yun Che’s injuries; the results she’d discovered let her breathe out a long sigh of relief, but at the same time, she experienced a great shock. It was because Yun Che’s injuries were much better than what she had imagined. His shoulder suffered such a severe wound, yet it had already stopped bleeding and showed no signs of it worsening. Instead, it was mending together with an extremely shocking speed that was visually discernible with the naked eye. There were countless other wounds on his body but they were all light injuries. His body was in a state of weakness, but it was also only weakness; there were no injuries to the essentials and the internal injuries were also very insignificant.
1. The Cell cycle consists of various phases, G 1 (growth& preparation of DNA), S (DNA synthesis), G 2 (cell preparation to divide), Mitosis (where chromosomes separate & the cell divides) and G0 (where non-dividing cells exit from the cycle). Cytotoxic therapy is the use of chemotherapy to disturb cellular growth by causing damage to the DNA and impairing cell function (Dougherty & Lister, 2011 p. 870). By affecting the growth and replication of these cells, treatments for patients diagnosed with cancer may be controlled and possibly cured.
The State of Maryland has charged Adnan with Hae’s murder solely using Jay’s alibi as their premise; they overlooked the alibis of former Woodlawn High School students who knew of Adnan, Hae, or Jay. Asia McClain, a
With the State’s defense crumbling without Jay’s testimony, what is the evidence against Adnan? There is physical evidence linking him to the murder, that is undisputable. So what does the state have? A palm print of Adnan’s on the back of an Atlas but not on the most incriminating page is about it for the State. If we stripped this case of Jay and all the “maybe” evidence you’re left with motive. It’s simple because Adnan didn’t have one. He was friends with Hae, Adnan was civil towards her and her new boyfriend, and he himself had already moved on as well. If we put this case back together and include all the so-called evidence then we need an alibi for
