Hair Dying
As people look around the different cities of our fair country, one might notice that many people nowadays are coloring their hair to cover grey or just for the fun of it. One difference among the younger generation and the older generation is the colors that are chosen for their hair. The younger generation of this day and age seem to prefer wild colors such as Infra Red, Mystic Heather, Deadly Nightshade, Tiger Lily, etc, as self-expression compared to the older generation choosing natural shades to cover the signs of aging. This can be seen in the rising number of young people that are seen around with these types of wild colors. Not all young people choose the wild colors over natural shades because some choose the

The website states that these celebrities use the hair colors often. This site is evidence that the trend of dying one’s hair a wild shade exists in the United States. Other companies are also taking part in the wild hair color business so as to keep up with the current competition. Companies such as BWild, Hot Head, and even Jerome Russell are participating in the trend of wild hair color to accommodate both the younger and the older population.
On the other hand, classic companies such as Clairol, Dark & Lovely and L’Oreal still offer the majority of the natural hair colors that one can buy in a store such as Wal-Mart. These companies can have a productive future as long as they are able to keep up with all other forms of competition. As to my current knowledge, none of these companies offer outrageous colors such as Pillarbox Red, or AfterMidnight. Sticking to the traditional colors is not a bad thing because there is still a business in natural hair colors. People still like to color their hair so it looks like the color they used to have or a lighter or darker shade of the color they presently have. The largest group to purchase hair color products in the older generation is women. They might do this because they see grey coming in or are trying a new look out.
CNN.com knew that hair coloring was a big trend as early as 1996. (Klensch, 1996). They predicted that the trend would continue on into 1997 but it

Since the early 1900s, Black women have had a fascination with their hair. More explicitly, they have had a fascination with straightening their hair. The need to be accepted by the majority class has caused them to do so. Though the image of straight hair as being better than coarse hair still hasn’t left the Black community, there has been a surge of non straight hairstyles since the nineteen sixties. Wearing more natural hairstyles, which ironically enough include ‘weaves’ and ‘hair extensions’ has been considered to be more empowered and more enlightened. However, this image comes with a price, and though it appears the ‘natural’ hairstyle movement has advanced Black women, it has actually set
Trend and fashion don't simply come in with various hairstyles or diverse haircuts. One can experiment with different patterns by adding shading to their hair. While most discover it excessively challenging or difficult to shading their hair, not very many take the guts and shading their hair in lively hues. In the current patterns, colored hair is getting prevalent. Yet, what most don't consider are colored Indian Remy hair extensions from wholesale hair vendors. Coloured Indian Remy hair extensions are the standard sorts of extensions yet it comes in different, distinctive hues. While some can experiment with streaks on their hair, others can utilize it in whichever and whatever style that they like.
In my opinion, I think it is harmful for a society to uphold such restrictive standards of beauty, especially for women. So many women spend so much time and money trying to change the way they naturally look because it’s not considered to be ideal. I've seen and experienced it growing up. My mom works in a hair salon, so I know how common it is for women to come in and have their hair bleached because that is what is supposed to be beautiful. I’ll admit that it’s easy to follow these trends, and I've bleached my hair too. Everyone in my immediate family has changed their hair color as well. So many people I know have altered their hair in some way just to adhere to beauty norms. The desire to follow the latest beauty trends is heavily enforced through the media. Magazines and news stories are always talking about the beauty
While beauty is not limited to social media and online authority but has started from the ground up in stores such as Claire 's and Sephora which birth new trends and encourage women to “Be Yourself”. Claires, a store generally shopped at by pre-teens, has began created light BB & CC creams for sheer to light coverage. In Claire 's there are less than 2 Deep complexion shades for these young pre-teens… With the simple act of secluding African and African American teens from shopping at Claire 's diminishes their confidence in their skin from such a young age. With in-store technology advancing the precise matching of skin complexion Sephora has continued to break skin shade boundaries… or so we think. In a recent interview with a Sephora employee she states, “When an African American walks in looking for a complexion product the girls run away because they “can do it” (Amy). Sephora does offer a mandatory SkinIQ matching class which does show how to properly match shades (which also matches undertones). Shea Moisture (A hair and skin brand known for being African and African American promoted) created a groundbreaking commercial showing race being a divider

Director of the Doneger Group made a very important statement in regards to the importance of this trend forecast for the near future when he said, “there’s a big movement to color.” Men are finally loosening up and looking for something new, warming up to colored shorts and pants, which will definitely be the next step. (Wolfe, 2012). Because color is a key concept in fashion, the “bold and bright” trend soon to take over the men’s fashion industry is very important in regards to responding to the market and

There has been a notable amount of conversation on the internet on the rebirth of the natural hair movement. Cherise Luter (2014) states that despite afros and the natural hair movement not being a new concept (i.e. the Black Power Movement), it has gone under what she calls a “refreshing change”. Furthermore, what used to be “I’m black and I’m proud”, has been replaced with “I’m me and I’m proud” (Luter 2016). So, what is the natural hair movement? It is defined as a movement where black women decide to not conform to the social norms of chemically altering their hair and wearing it in its natural, kinky, or curled state (Joignot 2015). The movement could also be considered as an outlet for black women to display their racial and cultural pride or to articulate their “political position (Brown 2014:297). However, simply the terminology “movement” is something that should be shocking to many. There is a great amount of historical context behind the continuous influence Eurocentric beauty ideals have had on black women for centuries. According to Nadia Brown (2014), Black natural hair throughout history has proven to be recognized as “either unintended or intended personal and political statements” (298). the beauty standard in Western society which praises European hair textures, has influenced many black women to be critical of other black women who choose to chemically straighten their hair, accusing them of being subservient to the dominant and pervasive racist

A common argument against the existence of cultural appropriation is; “Well, how about when Asian people who dye their hair blonde, or when African Americans straighten their hair?” This is not appropriating ‘American culture’ but assimilating to it. Assimilating is adopting the dominant culture in order to be successful and carry out day to day life. Instead of questioning why people of color are forced to fit in, we should be asking why the American standard of beauty is so
