What I’ve seen in this world I’ve looked around in this world and noticed people are judged on how they are viewed and by their actions. Also people are viewed by what they wear. Identity has been taking very seriously in the last decade causing many deaths around the world. Or people will hurt themselve instead of taking their life. Also Identity has caused many people to dropout or not come to school often because they were scared or weren't wearing what other people were wearing. So don't judge people because it kills and ends future so stop judging. People judged you on your identity even if they are being judged because it makes them feel better. For example in the book Outsiders by S.E. Hinton the text states “ need a haircut greaser”. In this quote from the Outsiders he is judging him by his hair and clothes he wears. Also the text states “ I have greenish gray eyes I wish they were more gray because I hate most guys with green eyes. He hate somebody because there eye color. That is an uncontrollable feature. After these statements don't judge someone on their style or on your eye color. …show more content…
In the text he is judging himself by saying” i'm too dark skinned to look good blonde”. In this case he is judging himself which actually happens often. Also in the book outsiders it states “I swear it doesn't look right with all of your hair cut”. Also in this case he is being judged based on his hair style. Don't let anyone or yourself judge you for being
Do you wonder what it is like for people who are different? How their life is affected by others opinions and thoughts? “Society looks down upon freakish and extraordinary individuals alike and views them with suspicion… they especially fear loners, those mysterious creatures who pursue their own values…?” (par.4). This quote from, “The Sociology of Leopard Man,” can be true to some people because society does do this to people who are different. Many people can agree with this statement about society looking down on individuals with different thoughts. These individuals change their appearance to get attention and no matter what they do society will not like these individuals beliefs. These are reasons why society looks at them in a bad way.
People think they can tell others identity or personality just by looking at them. People judge others all the time, one cant really help an impulse idea about the person. The reality is there is more to a persons identity than what people can see. We question how identity is amped everyday. Some believe it is influenced by personal choices; other believe it is by culture. There are obviously many different things that go into forming a persons identity. In my opinion culture is one of the most influential things that going into shaping a persons identity. This argument can be enforced in the articles “Who You Callin a Bitch” by Queen Latifah, Julian Dibbell’s “Alter Egos” and Mrigaa Sethi’s “Facebook:Editing Myself”
Across America, there is a debate about getting a embarrassment should not be used as an punishment, because a boy named Rushawn was being mean to his classmates, and his grades was going down. Considering both sides of the debate, Rushawn's parents decided to take him to a barber shop and get the grandpa cut.
Everyone in the world has their own identity; have you ever thought about what your identity is? Identity plays a big role in the world especially in America where not all identities are good. People might identify a wealthy person as “snotty rich” or a poor person as “defective” or maybe someone calls a man a woman when they're really a man. Or maybe you call someone a terrorist just because they are middle eastern. The list goes on and on and thats why social forces influence identities and can become dangerous. Gender, race, and social class are all forms of social forces.
Have you ever wondered how often a black male visits the barber? Before 2007 the males in my family visited the barber every two weeks. At that time, it was $10 for a cut hair and a shape up without tip. However, during the recession (2007- 2009) was a very uneasy time where job security was uncertain so many individuals were trying to save or cut cost and so was my family.
People judge other people because of their social class. For example, in page 29 of the book “The Watsons Go To Birmingham”,Kenny Watson explained that whenever somebody new started their school the ,students would take time and see what the new kids were like. The students would check what type of clothes the new kids wore.Kids that wore brand clothes would make fun of the new kids like Rufus because of their raggedy clothes. Rich people and poor people
As a person goes through their life, they encounter many choices and options. The most obvious ones are what they will wear, eat, or do for each day of their life. Everything that they do, even the most simple decisions, can and will impact them and who they are as a person. This will become a part of their identity. However, as the social beings humans are, their identities can be effected by those around them, virtually and physically. Most especially, every person’s identity is affected by the opinions and thoughts of others which can be expressed online, through verbal comments, and body language. This causes each person to question themselves and attempt to view themselves from the eyes of others. And when people question their identities
It’s that time of the year again and not the most wonderful time (of the year) at that. Say goodbye to summer vacation because back-to-school “fever” has striked again. Subscription boxes are flooded with back-to-school diy and hack videos from our favorite content creators. With the start of a new school year come new classes, friends, school supplies, … so why not new hairstyles?
No matter how open-minded a person may claim to be, everyone makes presumptions on first impressions or rumors. Despite seeing someone for only a split second, people make assumptions about others’ attitude, personality, and character! Usually, people tend to notice things that they feel are grounds to pass judgment upon. The quote “ You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view.... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it” by Harper Lee is a quote that truly signifies how people should perceive others. Rather than judging someone, people should place themselves in their shoes and try to understand their way of thinking
The distinguishing characteristics of an individual, such as social class, race, sexuality, and gender make up the overall identity of a person. Some people are stereotyped and judged for their identity and therefore try their hardest to forego this identity in order to create another one and undertake it. Many people often judge those that do this without realizing that they do the same. Ironically, the main character in the novel Piecing Me Together by Renee Watson, Jade, often criticizes her mentor Maxine for seeming ashamed of acting black in public while she does the exact same thing and for the same reason: to fit in with their white peers and not to be stereotyped.
Our nature as humans is to judge others. We are programmed to judge everything for the benefit of ourselves. Think about it for a second. What do you do when you meet new people? You judge them from the way
Things are not always as they appear. You may think someone is a certain way because of how they dress and carry themselves this is called stereotyping. Many people stereotype without even noticing that they are doing it. Everyone has his or her right to first impressions, but stereotyping is wrong. There are many examples of this topic in literature as well as in our society today.
A famous person once said “Judging a person doesn’t define who they are. It defines who YOU are.” Don’t judge someone by how they look comes out in both of the stories “The Lion and the Mouse” by Rob John and “Wonder” by R.J Palacio. Both of the stories have characters that are different from others. Both of the characters get judged, but are very helpful in the end.
One of the rules and regulations in the school is the haircut policy. Government makes and implemented laws and policy to ensure the safety of every students. They implemented School policies that can reach a long term goals in protecting students life inside the school grounds . Haircut policy in school is very important because it is one policy that can build discipline among students. The Department of Education (DepEd) has a long-standing policy that governs good grooming. This includes prescribing a so-called proper haircut for male pupils in both private and public schools “the prescribed haircut for boys is at least one inch above the ear and three inches above the collar line.” (Quijano , 2011).
Everyday, we see hundreds of people. Whether we see them on the street, at work, at school, or on television, people pass through our visual field. Fortunately or unfortunately, we judge these people. It may be intentional, it may be unintentional, or it may be somewhat intentional, but we form opinions about people based on their style of dress.
