The definition of the word hero is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding, achievements, or noble qualities. I think of Pat Tillman as a definition of the word hero. Pat was born on November 6th, 1976, in San Jose, California. He was named after his father, and is the oldest of 3 brothers. He went to Arizona State University with a scholarship after high school. He then enlisted in the Army, and died on the 22nd of April, 2004. Pat Tillman was a genuine, kind, hero who was known for being an honorable friend, a loyal person, with a determined personality.

From the many killings by police officers of innocent and unarmed African Americans, to well recognized symbolism that may have negative connotations to some such as the Confederate flag. Through her book she strives to make readers think about their life and the people around them. The overall questions she asks are: “What is Identity?” and “What is your identity?” She uses personal experience, stories, theories, political activist, television shows, and humor to back up her theories and arguments while continually raising questions about gender, orientation, desire, and why we as a society are so attached to a dualistic gender system.
