Be Active.
Hamish Ashton’s article, “Be active”, indicates that society needs to have the mindset that exercise is required to prevent severe diseases. Ashton’s purpose is to display the actions the Sports Medicine team is taking to better an athlete’s ability and health condition. Ashton has written this article to educate an audience with some knowledge of sports and medical related subjects. To begin with, Ashton raises awareness on three important points: The more people who don’t exercise increase the population’s death rate, the benefits of exercising and how exercising prevents chronic diseases.
For starters, those who don’t exercise increase the population’s death rate. Ashton states, “ It is therefore not surprising that at the same
Figure 1 facts about not being active disease, osteoporosis, and type 2 diabetes”(Van Domelen, 2011). This is saying that being physically active is a way to maintain your health and try to prevent so many diseases that are listed above. Being active and going to the gym has a lot of good effects on the daily life and as shown in (Figure 1) above, not working out results in at least 300,000 death
Six and a half billion dollars. Ladies and gentlemen, that is the approximate cost of a border that would stretch from San Diego to Texas. A chain-linked, steel, and barbed-wire border that would block hard work, dreams, and an inevitable fate. Through the brutal deserts, dehydration, and pain, only about a fourth of the immigrants trying to get to America make it. That means so much because of how many people try to accomplish this feat, considering still around nine-hundred thousand immigrants still make it. In all reality, borders are truly just an imaginary line some important people with wigs created. We, as a whole, decide how important things are. Money's just paper, an MLB star is just a normal human. However, something that always gets us, something that is made such a big fuss about, is a two-thousand mile long border, also known as The Mexican-American Border. Think about this. If we have such a powerful military and border patrol, why would we need such an intimidating wall? Or even why do we disown and hate these immigrants? Better yet, why would we spend all this money when we are trillions
Sports medicine is a field of medicine that can be defined as: “an area of medical practice concerned with the treatment of injuries resulting from athletic activities (Veritas Health 2017).” There are essentially two categories in the field of sports medicine. There are the treatments for sports related injuries and disorders and the prevention of sports related injuries and illnesses. Health professions and medical services, athletic and fitness training, physical therapy and sports psychology are just a few of the growing fields of sports medicine. Many athletes have benefited from sports medicine by going through many processes of rehabilitation, preventive care and personal training. With interest in sports medicine increasing, many more people are

In the field of Sports Medicine, we focus on assisting individuals who want to remain physically fit as well as individuals who are trying to sustain, or regain, their prime athletic performance levels. We accomplish this through the use of injury recovery treatments and/or injury prevention techniques. From elite professional athletes to individuals who just enjoy working out at their local gym after work, the numerous benefits that Sports Medicine can provide are becoming apparent to individuals throughout the country. By implementing injury prevention techniques and, when necessary, recovery treatments, our patients remain flexible and active, which allows them to meet their personal and/or professional competition, and fitness goals.
I have chosen to discuss an article entitled “Is exercise actually medicine.” Since the topic for the week is unique benefits of physical activities, but does not limit us to just discussing exercise, I feel that it is important to discuss that physical exercise can be used as a medication, similar to a daily regimen of Tylenol or Aspirin. All forms of exercises can be uniquely beneficial, I did not want to limit myself to one exercise topic. We are a society that has evolved into sedimentary lifestyles and this thought that exercise can be used as a medication is a unique concept. Let me start with an explanation of what exercise is, how it may help us to gain control of our bodies and finally attempt to convince the reader that many medical
As stated in class, sports medicine is, “a profession dedicated to maintaining and improving the health and well-being of the physical active population”. In a meeting of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine, healthcare representatives stated that the field of sports medicine is specialized in addressing the treatment, physical fitness, and injury prevention tactics related to any form of sports or exercise.
The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) is the largest organization of sports that uses scientific research to provide educational information and practical applications of exercise and sports medicine. I compared my personal definition of fitness with the ACSM organization because I found similarities in terms of the idea of fitness and health. This organization has created a Complete Guide to Fitness and Health to educate people about the importance of the components of health and fitness. The ACSM focus on the components of fitness such as aerobic, muscular, flexibility and body composition. My personal definition of fitness is when an individual tries to engage in physical activities to improve his overall health. It involves the
For those people who are lack of exercising also increase the number of obesity. In this twenty first century, the economic is up and down require people to stay over time on their job. For some people they take two jobs to meet the demand of life. Studies show that people who get more active are not involve in any type of obese issues than the people who are sit in front of computer for several hours.
This article will focus on physical activity in physicians in the residency training programs. To begin with, we can say that physical activity is a critical component in maintaining good health. More often than not, people concentrate so much on other methods of preventing disease forgetting that physical activity is also another good way of preventing disease. For example, the lifestyle diseases like diabetes, cancer, and many cardiovascular diseases can be purely being prevented by just exercising (Warburton et al, 2006). In most cases, you find doctors are the ones teaching on the preventive measures by when they do not apply those rules to themselves. The article purely focuses on physicians.

“As many as 250 000 deaths per year in the United States are attributable to a lack of regular physical activity,” explains PhD Jonathan Myers, in a journal article of exercise and hearth disease.
I have connected the reflective research paper to objective # 1 because it made me examine my personal belief and attitude on gender equity issues. I did not realize that gender equity existed at the level that it does until researching the topic. Doing the research made me realize that the way we teach directly affects how children learn in every aspect.
Gonzalez 1Alexis Gonzalez Thomas Debalski English 1A 11/25/2017 The Efficacy of Sexual Education In our culture, sex is a taboo subject and our youth is an example of the effects of sexual ignorance. Sexual education in schools is often responded with apprehension from parents because the line between sexual education and lecherycan easily be crossed, especially with minors. Sexual education is sex education about sexuality, contraception, prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, and attitudes and principles about sex. Currently, the United States has the highest rate of teenage pregnancy and abortion compared to other western countries. Interestingly, the United States has the weakest sexual education curriculum compared to developed European countries. On the same note, cases of rape are staggering in the US, a result of sexual misinformation about consent. Teenage misinformation about sex is on the rise due to the increasing accessibility of inappropriate sources for sexual education that distort sexual behavior, like pornography. A sexual education class can help dispel myths surrounding sex. Therefore, the underlying question is – should sexual education be required in public schools, without the option to opt-out? Sexual education should be
