Hamlet In Love With Ophelia Analysis

A question about Hamlet that is commonly asked is, was Hamlet truly in love with Ophelia? I believe that Hamlet was both in love and not in love with her throughout the story. In the beginning of the story, Hamlet is seen to be in love with Ophelia and that is the truth, but once Hamlet's father is killed, love is not a factor to help him get his revenge and Ophelia is almost thrown to the side and forgotten. Once again, when Ophelia kills herself, Hamlet once again realizes what he has lost and remembers the woman he loved. Hamlet is somewhatkind of in love with Ophelia almost for the entirety of Act I, and readersyou can see how he still loves her but is sad about his father's death and it is haunting him. Ophelia does try and comfort him, and they show the affection they have for each other, but the spark they once had seems to be gone from Hamlet’s side of the relationship. Although they will still talk and Ophelia stays by Hamlet’s side, the turning point for this loving relationship is in Act I Scene V when Hamlet sees his dead father's ghost. The ghost tells Hamlet all about how he “died,” stating the truth about how he was murdered. This makes Hamlet become even sadder for the time being, but then those emotions of sadness turn into rage and control everything about him. He no longer sees Ophelia and the woman he once loved, just an obstacle getting in his way for revenge and sees her as nothing else. In Act III Scene I, Hamlet is in a rage for revenge against
