Hamlet Ophelia Innocent Quotes

Ophelia is a very interesting and confused character in William Shakespeare's play Hamlet. She has so many moments where she is hanging onto her sanity by a thread, and one small thing could set her off. Ophelia illustrates character traits leading to her tragic downfall, including innocence, ignorance, and distraught actions.

Throughout the play Ophelia shows us over and over how innocent and ignorant she really is. Hamlet: “I did love you once.” Ophelia: “Indeed, my lord, you made me believe so.” Hamlet: “You should not have believ’d me…”(act 3, i).
This quote shows her being innocent because Hamlet denies ever loving her even though right before he said that he did love her at one point. She is innocent so she doesn’t think it through
