Hannah Burlington was my best friend. We were always by each others side and we never let the other one down. We met in the 4th grade and have been best friends since then. We went to Reagan High school and now we are leaving to go to college.
“I guess this is it honey, Facetime us every night or when you have time to and don’t forget to brush your teeth, and comb your hair and”
“Ok I get it mom” I said quietly. “We love you so much” they said with tears in their eyes. “I love you too, bye.” I closed the door and I looked in the foggy window saying goodbye to my childhood memories, I’ll be back soon, I said in my head.
We got into the car and drove off, “college here we come!” I yelled excitedly.
“Oh my gosh, this cabin is huge!”

I love living with Hannah and all of our roommates. “It’s time to go to soccer tryouts Hannah” I yelled. We ran to the car and drove off. We were all geared up and really excited for tryouts. If I got in I would be so happy. Hannah and I were both trying out. We both played last year at Reagan.
The coaches were calling out the names of the people who were trying out.
“I think we did really good” Hannah said after tryouts. “I don’t think I did that good.” I said out of breath. The next day we woke up bright and early to go to the fields to see who got in.
The couches were calling out the people who got in and they would stand up and went behind him.
“ Carly Robertson, Abby Laura, Kira Timson, and last of all…”
Please be me, please be me, I said in my head
“Annie Brown” they called out.
“Yes!”
Just as I was about to stand up Hannah stood up and said that she was Annie.
“Im Annie Brown” Hannah said
We are, if you believe in cliches, the best of friends, or as we like to call each other, sisters. Lucy and I went to St. Mike's and Central together, and is someone I truly look up to. Anna Turani and I have known each other through dance for eight years, and she is an amazing person I am fortunate to know. Maddie Tiu is a person I truly admire with her organization and drive to succeed in whatever life throws at her. Maddie Crawford is one of the most mature and strong eighth graders I know.
I got the chance to interview a wonderful person, Ms. Breyonia Sterling. Breyonia resides here in Savannah, Ga and she is 18 years old. Her birthday is April 8th, which qualifies her to be an Aries. Breyonia Sterling is a wonderful person because she has an admirable personality, she is very success- driven, and has some unique favorites. I also learned while interviewing her that we have a lot in common.
My full name is Allyson Pusich, but I prefer to be called Ally by my friends, family, and teachers. I am from Snoqualmie, WA but have also lived in Juneau, AK for a few years as that is where both of my parents were born and raised. I have a younger brother who is starting his freshman year at the University of Washington in the fall, and an older sister who has recently moved to Boise, ID to work for the Jesuit Volunteer Corps for one year. I am a lover of hiking, cats, and the Seattle Seahawks.
We decided to pass the ball around to help kill time. I saw many familiar faces many of the girls I grew up playing with on rec leagues were going to tryout. At exactly 5:30 sharp the tryouts commenced. We started with a simple 3 lap jog or so it sounded. At the pace the older girls were taking those three laps they might as well have called it a three lap sprint. After the worst three laps of my life I was drenched in sweat and breathing as heavily as a dog after it chases a squirrel. After we got past the sprinting and stamina part I began to show what I could really do. I tried my hardest on every drill that they had us do so I could ensure myself a spot on the team. After that there was still one day of tryouts that would be the following day. The next day we did mostly the same stuff we had done the day before but you could feel that everyone was trying their best to impress the coaches that were judging us. As the tryouts came to a close I hoped that had done just enough to catch the eye of one of the judges. After the second day of tryouts the coordinators told us that know who did and didn't make the

When my mom married my step-dad, Jon, in 2009, I was only eight. I had to move and I was getting a whole new family that I had never even met before, so of course I was scared. I met Mabel Hickman a little while after the wedding. She was a family friend that my step-dad had grown up with. Mabel was the nicest person I had met in my life and she made me feel very welcome. She was born on December 25, 1923 in South Bend, Indiana. She met her husband, Marvin, at Fort Custer when she was in her late teens. They got married not too long after meeting each other on October 31, 1940 when Mabel was only 17. Unfortunately, Mabel died last year when she got sick. Mabel Hickman is my hero because she never stopped being nice to people, even though she went through a lot or even if the person didn’t deserve her kindness. Not only was the nicest person I had ever met, but she was amazingly talented.
Nearly 40 percent of shark species are endangered of extinction. Even though Bethany Hamilton was bit by a shark she has a charity to help save the sharks and there habitat. Bethany Hamilton was a 13 year old surfer who was attacked by a 15 foot tiger shark. While in the hospital she made goals to get back on the board. Bethany showed great resilience in overcoming the tiger shark attack to achieve her surfing goal.
“I just got attacked”! Bethany Hamilton got attacked by a shark on October31, 2003. At 13 years of age, Bethany Hamilton was attacked by 15 foot tiger shark. She was in the hospital for a few weeks; people were sending flowers, cards, and teddy bears to her. Yet every day she was in the hospital all she had on her mind was to get well and be surfing by Thanksgiving Day. Bethany Hamilton showed great resilience in overcoming the shark attack to achieve her surfing dream.
Hannah grew up as an ordinary Maldivian girl. She was the top of her class unfortunately she had to graduate in year 11 so she could take care of her grandmother. Soon she has the offer to be taken to America with fake documents and no money to soon find out the “American dream” wasn’t what she thought it was going to be. She will do whatever it takes to survive the 16 hour days and verbally abusive mother.
Choosing an individual that has overcome adversity was difficult because there were many options. When reviewing my options, I realized Bethany Hamilton was my best choice. She is known as the “Soul Surfer”. She is not an elite thematicization, or famous artist, or even a freedom fighter but she is an inspiration. Bethany was just a teenager who had a lifelong dream of becoming a pro surfer. One day she went surfing with her friends and left as a victim of a violent shark attack that took her left arm. It took a while but this attack did not break her spirit or faith.
I knew it was a dangerous thing to do, but I had to do something. I am Hannah Jean Grooms the third. The young, 21 year old, preacher's child. The absolute most loved by the community, for the most simple thing ever. I saved a person from a blistering fire, nothing at all right? Then everything changed.
They texted everyday and talked on the phone regularly. Brittany went to Tyler’s house more often for dinner just to spend time with his mom and family.
“Honey, we need to go to this place quickly. Where exactly are, you taking us?” my mom sounded worried, but I thought she knew where we were going?
“School has been ok,” was all I could offer to the man who had left my life when I was just a small child. After that the kitchen was quiet until my mother came back
