In Harlen Coben’s “The Undercover Patent,” Coben argues of being in favor of implementing spyware to the children’s computer. He claims that this protect their children so they could monitor their action when they are browsing the web. He is also convincing many parents to do this by telling letting them know that its not hard to place spyware on children computer. Also that this is not a bad idea after all we are their parents not unknown entity like the government. Coben also argues that this not as bad because the internet is already visible to the public. Coben states that parents should put spyware on their kids computers, but shouldn’t be nosey and be completely responsible look for anything hazardous. However I disagree and believe teenagers should be trusted with online responsibilities. One reason for this is a third party (the vendor) makes a record of what you do ,but the author did not make note this or did not even know which in my opinion is worst than a faceless bureaucrat because that third is likely to release it to other parties such as google or other big corporations.

I agree with Harlan Coben in the article “The Undercover Parent.” I agree with him because parents should use spyware on there kids computers to keep them safe from danger. Coben gives an example that a dad’s daughter is a straight “A” student and he figures out that his daughter was sleeping with a drug dealer. He found out by using spyware on her devices by seeing her social network. Parents should use spyware because parents can see what there child is doing on social network and to see if they're in danger this is why parents should use spyware to keep their kids from dangerous sites .

One, parents need to protect their kids from cyberbullying and secondly, everyone already can see what your children do on the internet. Coben also says that children will find other ways to avoid the spyware such as using cellphones; but, Coben says, cell phones are better than computers. Coben deems that parents should tell their kids that they have installed a spyware in the computer. Coben makes some great arguments, but I do not agree with him.

Harlan Coben concludes how adolescents should have adult supervision, no matter what do to them being troubled whether, they’re chatting with a friend or simply on the Internet. Coben states how adolescents are constantly in danger on social media because no one is for sure how much danger exactly is out in the endless cyber world. He explains how there are certain individuals out in the world wide web. Some of those individuals could be sexual assaulters, sextual preditors, kidnappers, people with criminal records, and so on. As you can assume Coben surely wants the best for the next upcoming generation.

One thing that led me to agree with Coben was when he spoke to parents and said, “... you’re listening for dangerous chatter..” (Par.11) He’s right, when spyware is used correctly, the parents are looking to make sure you’re being safe, it’s not strangers trying to find information about you. A parents job is to protect their child at all costs, and that extends to protecting you on the internet. Even though kids may feel like their privacy has been violated, if used correctly, you are not invading privacy, only giving protection from dangers unknown to them.
