I will pick acquiring the Human Language film. I felt that this film was more easy to understand, well organized. Also was very interesting to learn by experiments such as ambiguous sentence
3.Choose one of the works you heard. [20 pts.] If the work is a multi-movement composition, you need only discuss one or two movements. Who was the composer? Please provide a biography of the composer. [Note: you needn’t provide volumes, but in most cases, one to two paragraphs is sufficient.] Describe the work: (be certain to include the title of the work and composer), the style and/or stylistic period, form, subject-matter, and other elements we’ve discussed in class, including melody, harmony, form, texture, rhythm, tempo, etc. [As music occurs within a time framework, one can almost always describe what occurs sequentially.] Is there a particular meaning implied in the title which provide insights to the performance of the piece?
I chose the topic are college athletes given preferential treatment over non-athletes while in college because it is something very controversial in college athletics. Besides being controversial, I also find the topic very interesting. It is interesting to me to find out why college athletes get special treatment to play a sport when in reality the special treatment is probably a disservice to the athletes. Another reason I enjoy this topic is that I love sports in general and college athletics are some of my favorites to watch.
You should be familiar with the plots of all the films we watched in class. You should also be familiar with the main ideas from The Cutting Edge documentary. Moreover, anything discussed in class in the lectures could be on exam. You will have to answer 50 multiple choice items.
I really enjoyed putting together the visual aspect of this project and finding out more about Claude Monet while connecting it to the French culture. I found it kind of frustrating to put together the biography of Monet though as I had to read through a lot of information to do so. Although this is the case, it did interest me.
I chose to do House of Cards because I felt like it gave me, albeit a little dramatically, a nice overview of everything that happened in 2008. Not being old enough to remember what happened, I decided that instead od focusing on a more micro topic, I would choose one that gave me a broad view to educate myself more on everything that caused the crash, and how we can, at least try, to prevent it in the future.
The topic that I chose was that colleges and universities should not use affirmative action in determining which students are accepted. I am personally against this issue and it should be dealt with immediately. Affirmative action should be banned in all parts of the world. Colleges and universities should not use affirmative action because it gives students an unfair advantage, it does not matter what ethnicity you are, and it is illegal. I believe that colleges and universities should not use affirmative action.
One topic I found interesting was the one about Bonnie and Clyde. I've heard about them but I never heard their story. Reading it in Kyjuan Martin’s infographic created a deeper meaning of the story to me. I learned that Bonnie was very smart. She had great grades and was “amongst the brightest of her peers.” Her family raised her as a Christian and so she has always been one. Clyde, on the other hand, had a life of the opposite. He would have died as a child due to not having much to eat but his parents gave up on their farming business and searched for something that gave them more money. His life was hard but he found his safe place in playing the guitar and saxophone. Later, his brother created a criminal out of him. He was sent to a prison
2. I found Rabiger's suggestion that the documentary may have been descended from oral tales surprisingly compelling. It is a connection that I would have never thought to make, but with which I wholeheartedly agree when considering the educative utility and entertainment value that are at the heart
The theme was Explored, Encounter, and Exchange, so I chose Genghis Khan- the man who built the biggest empire in all of mankind. I built a website that laid out Genghis Khan’s success through the influence he had upon the world starting with world trade and then creating religion tolerance (which has never been done beyond Genghis khan’s time). The subject I had chosen hit every aspect of the theme so my confidence was at an all time high. I knew I was going to win and so did my teacher, at least that was the
Pick five (5) of the topics covered in the class: paintings, photography, literature, dance, find examples in your city. Photograph, interview, and review what makes the city in which you live diverse.
The topic I have chosen is the lyrics of a song. The song I've chosen is overcomer by mandisa. I have chosen this song because it describes me as an Overcomer and obstacles I have faced in my life. This song connects to me through God and my faith and walk with him. Which would be another reason why I have chosen this. My family has always told me that through the toughest times you can overcome things and with this song I've overcome so many things in my life.
I chose the topic of the Space Exploration: Apollo missions. This has always interested me and I found that it was a lot more than just space exploration. This was a political race that was between the United States and Soviet Union “Russia”. I was shocked to find out that this was a controversial topic, because many people believe that we never made it in space and others think that the moon landing was a hoax.
The remix project broadened my knowledge and understanding of rhetoric. This was done through a lot of thinking, sharing ideas, writing down my thoughts, recording videos, and editing. The remix project required me to use critical thinking as well as creativity. The main task is taking writing and ideas and putting it into a visual. The visual required for this project is a five-minute video. At first, this made me feel a good amount of confusion as well as some nerves. It’s overwhelming and intimidating to think about having to film a five-minute video with not a lot of specific guidelines. It would take a lot of creativity and imagination to think of a great captivating film. In this reflection, I will share my process of how this project
Getting to know Mark Williams Jacob at first was very difficult. He was very shy and was not willing to open up at the beginning of the interview. He was not interested in giving out information on his personal life. But over time he started to develop a trust with me. The more I did not force him to answer the questions I presented to him he wanted to answer them. I let him wander a bit and listened to what he had to say. He is a very shy but at the same time very open and outgoing person. I would like to learn more about him as time goes
