If you have followed me for a couple of years, you probably know that I love Harry Potter. I’ve made many posts before that have included my love of this wonderful series including; butterbeer cupcakes.
So when Aentee from Read at Midnight created #PotterheadJuly, I knew that I had to join. On my stop of this feature I am talking all about my journey with Harry.
My journey with Harry starts before I could even read. When Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was published, I wasn’t even one, but my mum’s work colleagues were reading it to their kids, so my mum read it to me.
I don’t remember much of the earlier years of Harry Potter, my memories are really faint, but one of my earliest memories was going to see Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone at the drive-in.
My parents, younger sister and I were on holiday and we decided to go see it. I remember sitting in the front seat of the car, eating my popcorn and listening to it through the car radio.
There are two scenes that I am can remember so clearly. The first is when Harry first arrives at Hogwarts, the scene where we first see the castle. Even though I was only 6, I felt like I was home. It was magic and beautiful.
The other scene that I remember is one that scared the crap out of me. It’s when we first see Voldemort. You know the scene where Voldemort goes to kill the Potters, where he puts his hand on the gate – yer that scene. That scene haunted me for years.
I have watched my Harry Potter and the
We were pulling up at the parking lot of Knott's soak city it was so full. I was so exited. First we had to get our tickets. Second we had to find some chairs. Then we went to a pool called The wave cove. And every 5 minutes waves would hit. It was so fun to swim over them. After that we went to a big water slide that was 50 feet tall. My little cousin went on one that was 4 feet tall. Then we ate pizza and salad. Then we went to the Lazy river that took you around Knott's soak city.
About seven years ago, I went to Six Flags for the first time ever. I was only about ten years old at the time, and of course I was extremely nervous. I had a lot of questions about it because of course it was all new to me with it being my first time going to an amusement park. I had asked about the big rides they have of course, the really popular water park they have at Six Flags, and of course I had to ask about the good amusement park food. As soon as I got there, my heart instantly dropped.
restaurant and the food was amazing, I had some Mickey pancakes with some whip cream, it was the bomb. After that we went the next park over Epcot. When we got there my dad and I went on the best ride ever, The Space Adventure. It was the best it felt like we were actually in space cause you could see outside into space and you had a role in the mission and everything it was so cool. After that we went to this ford thingy where you get to design a car and the
Harry Potter is a fascinating tale of sorcerers, wands, broomsticks, dragons, and magic. The story begins with a young boy named Harry Potter who lives at number four Privit Drive, Surray, England. I was three years old and I was driving with my Dad. The song "Like You were Dying" by Tim McGraw. My Dad was touched by the song and released how short life actually was. My Dad rushed us home and told my Mom we were going to Disney World. My grandparents were called and asked if they wanted to come with us. They did we all packed our bags. We spent four days in the Parks. I don't remember much, but we stayed in the Animal Kingdom Lodge. My favorite part was maybe the dress my Grandma made for me, a beautiful Sleeping Beauty pink dress. Pictures of me and my family around are my favorite pictures to look at in our scrapbooks. Overall, I love all Disney Parks. It is really hard for me not to love one. Hopefully, I can finish my goal for my blog, and include more different blogs for you all to
One really fun memory was when I was really little like 4 my mom and I were at my grandparents house and my grandma and mom were talking at the table so my grandpa and I started watching movies on this little tiny DVD player . We were
I remember being 9 years old and going to waterworld one summer with the entire family. Waterworld is a water park mixed with a combination of rides located up in Denver. I would have to say that would be my earliest memory that I actually enjoyed, before everyone separated and went there own way. My favorite ride would have to have been “ The Storm” , Waterworld is nothing compared to six flags.
Anxiously waiting in my seat at the Harry Potter Premier, I tasted the rainbow for the first time. As Harry, Hermine and Ron tackled their year at Hogwarts, I enjoyed an explosion of sweet, juicy favors inside of my mouth. I had found my pot of gold. It was like snape had sent Wrigley’s a magic potion and I was under their colorful spell. Never would I watch another quidditch match without a magical packet of delight.
I went a second time when I was 11. By that point, I was able to go on all the rides. When we want that time, we took a train there, and the first time we drove. It was along 12 hours, but we made it there and back. My favorite ride that I rode, would have to be Millenniumforce. It goes 90 mph and 2 seconds. It had broke a world
A hero can be defined as someone who places themself at great risk, while performing acts of courage. This definition can be related in the epic poem, Beowulf, and the novel, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer 's Stone. In each story, both leading characters are born destined to defeat the most evil creature in their world. Beowulf is the oldest surviving epic poem in the world. “Beowulf” was written in 1000 AD, in Old English form. In this poem the main character, Beowulf, challenges an evil monster, Grendel and a dragon, to a battle to save Denmark. 1,300 years later, in 1997, the novel Harry Potter and the Sorcerer 's Stone was published. Written by JK Rowling, Harry Potter became an instant success and was read by millions of people all over the world. In this novel, the main character, Harry Potter, is sent to Hogwarts Witchcraft and Wizardry. At Hogwarts, Harry realizes that it is his destiny to kill Lord Voldemort, the most evil creature in the wizard world. Even through culture change, Harry Potter and Beowulf can be compared. They can be compared because both heroes are destined to fight evil, lead a group of people, and save the innocent lives of others.
Me and my family had drove to Six Flags to ride the rides and eat stuff from the concession stands. We started at rides like Ice Man and the we did Batman and then all the other rides.
Did this section remind you of anything that has happened to you? What? Why? Did this section give you any new ideas about yourself? Why? A section in the book that reminded me of something that happened to me is when Harry is left alone on the Hogwarts Express.
Young adult novels have drifted in and out of popularity. But some have stood the test of time, became classics. They are favourites of children everywhere. The Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis was written during the 1950’s, and it has stood the test of time. It is still a story told and retold to children everywhere. Harry Potter is a much new fantasy young adult book series, written in the 1990’s. It is also a favourite of many children, with its own movies and other new, creative ways to interact with the world JK Rowling has created. Harry Potter has been a massive success.
At just the age of eight, my mother took my younger sister along with me to a midnight showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and it was love at first screening. There was so much excitement and enthusiasm bursting with energy in the audience that it was mesmerizing. That moment was re-experienced repeatedly with the return to countless future showings. Moreover, when I attained the age that I could attend without a chaperone, I would bring friends and introduce them to the experience. Following in my mother’s footsteps, I also acquainted my daughter with the film when I felt it was time, as did my sister with her children. Consequently, the tradition will continue for generations to come within our family. Rocky Horror Picture Show is not compatible with all viewers, some will either love it or hate it. With no doubts, I can honestly declare my infatuation with Rocky Horror Picture Show as my all-time favorite film based on the excitement and experience it creates for the audience.
The wizarding world of Harry Potter, when asked to describe it most people would say it’s amazing, magical and that they would love to live in that Universe. With the astonishing fantasy and diverse cast of characters that glaze over the truth, In my essay I plan to disclose the reality of the hegemonic ideology of author J.K Rowling’s creation.
