Sirius Black was sent to Azkaban in the fall of 1981. The Ministry of Magic had him placed there with no trial. Did anyone ever ask Sirius if he was innocent. In the young adult novel Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, was there enough evidence to send Sirius Black away for twelve years without a trial becuase of who his family was, the death of Pettigrew, the death of the twelve muggles, and his betrayel to the Potters. Sirius Black was born in the autmn of 1959. He was the eldest son of Orion and Walburga Black. He was heir to Black family fortune (House of Black). He was also the great-grandson of former Hogwarts Headmaster Phineas Nigellus Black. The whole Black family believed in purfication of wizarding race, pure blood rule, and not allowing muggle borns in the wizarding race. Like the Lestrange and Malfoy families, the Black family is synonymous with high status and wealth. The Black family was most affialated with the house of Slytherin, the exception was Sirius Black. Sirius was sorted into Gryffindor house. Sirius ' cousin, Bellatrix Black Lestrange was a known supporter of Voldemort. She was a known female Deatheater, as well as among the most dangerous of Voldemort 's followers. Regulus Black was the younger brother of Sirus Black. He was also a deatheater in his youth, but he left from the group when he found out to what extent Voldemort would go to in order to gain immortality. People in their ignorance of who Sirius Black really was assumed he was
