Can you imagine growing up with almost nothing, then miraculously thinking of an imaginary boy wizard, who makes you a multimillionaire? This is the story of how Jo Rowling, or more commonly known as J.K. Rowling, came to write the best-selling book series of Harry Potter. Rowling, an English born woman, has been inspired throughout her life to write Harry Potter. After her first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, which was later changed to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, became a success, she continued to write the rest of the books in the series, including a book explaining the background, The Tales of Beedle the Bard. Throughout her life, J.K. Rowling has been inspired to write the Harry Potter series, which unexpectedly helped her to become not only a household name, but one of the wealthiest women in England. J.K. Rowling came from humble beginnings, born in Chipping Sodbury, England on July 31, 1965. As a child, her parents struggled to keep the family on welfare. With Joanne, J.K. Rowling’s real name, and her little sister Di to support, Anne and Peter Rowling, had to make enough money to allow them to get a private school education. *insert quote here*. Throughout Rowling’s life in England, which was also the place where the Harry Potter series took place, there were many influences that may have helped with writing the books. One of the most important impacts on the book series, was how Harry got the scar on his forehead. As a child,
The narrative structure of a story is extremely important because it is the reason the reader feels attracted or not towards the story. J.K. Rowling, the author of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, narrated her story in a way that makes it easy to comprehend and maintains the reader attracted to it. Rowling included several types of events throughout the novel that makes the reader follow the story without getting lost in the middle of the story. The author introduces characters without getting the reader lost, makes the reader dislike certain characters due to their characteristics, and presents conflicts between good and evil.
One of the reoccurring events that takes place in the beginning of the book include Harry 's desire to hear from his friends. He has gone a couple of months without receiving word, or owl post, from any of his fellow wizards. He is reminded several times that he seems to have no outside friendship from his home. With his encounter with Dobby, the house elf, Harry cannot help but feel left out and unwanted. This feeling is added to by the hatred that his foster family, the Dursley 's, share for him. Dudley, Harry 's cousin, basically rubs the fact that Harry has no letters from his friends in his face. To add to Harry 's unease and loneliness, is the fact that Harry 's birthday has arrived with no more
Rick Riordan, the author of the young adult series Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, has stated that J.K. Rowling and her Harry Potter series were a heavy inspiration in his own book. Although one might not notice the similar plot structure and character types, due to the different writing style and narrative voices. While Rowling's story is strictly a third person narrative, Riordan writes in the first person view of the lead character, Percy. As you look back at the story, however, the reader can discover a clear connection between these two very different worlds of magic, monsters, and mysterious villains. However we also see that the few differences in these stories make for an entirely different experience for the readers, and connects to different children for different reasons.
Rowling used Harry’s scar as a symbol too. Foster states, “More often than not, physical markings by their very nature call attention to themselves and signify some psychological or thematic point the writer wants to make” (Foster 208). Rowling uses Harry’s scar to symbolize two things: identity, and maturity. All the characters are able to identify Harry Potter as Harry Potter because of the lightning shaped scar on his forehead. The scar symbolizes maturity because it caused Harry more pain as he transitioned into an adult. From the fourth book and on, pain seared through Harry’s scar because of Voldemort. Voldemort’s emotions often passed on to Harry because of it, and it was in those moments that readers realized that Harry wasn’t a little boy anymore, but a teenager transitioning into an adult who had to learn to how to be independent and how to defend

I have never broken any copyright laws, but I almost did, it would’ve been for getting a movie at a garage sale because the person was trying to sell a movie, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and also Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, I never knew that it was breaking copyright laws until my dad told me so, so i didn’t get it. But if my dad hadn’t told me so, I would’ve gotten it, and broken the law. Next time I’ll know that it’s copyright and I wouldn’t get it. My actions would’ve affected everyone who helped make the movies.
Education can have many lasting effects to a person in a positive or negative manner. Institutions that focus on education are subjects to the societal norms and cultural bias. In the story, "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" by J.K. Rowling, a school called Hogwarts shows signs of being culturally pressured to teach forms of racism and superiority to others. Hogwarts methods of teaching have lead to students displaying acts of racism with approval, performing class division starting from early on, and showing favoritism or publicly humiliating students based on bloodline or ability to produce. These actions throughout the story demonstrate that Hogwarts educational methods are institutionally racist and elitist.
