In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and throughout most of the series, Albus Dumbledore proves to be Harry’s mentor and supernatural aid. He helps Harry on his quest to become a hero by ultimately defeating Voldemort. Dumbledore is an appropriate fit for this position because he is an extremely powerful, intelligent wizard who seems to have a god-like foreknowledge of the whole story from beginning to end. All of Dumbledore’s skills and knowledge aid Harry as a wizard, allow him to mature, and enable him to differentiate between good and evil. As Harry progresses through this maturation process, Dumbledore provides him with the capacity to conduct himself towards his ultimate goal without his direct help. 11). The book continues to illustrate that “Professor McGonagall flinched, but Dumbledore, who was unsticking two lemon drops, seemed not to notice” (p.11). In this instance, Dumbledore understands the entire situation and already knows the outcome. He calls Voldemort by his real name and does not shy away from it when addressing the enemy because he believes in Harry’s abilities, perseverance, and positive intentions, which are the tools needed to succeed, even though at this point he is merely a young boy. Dumbledore’s mind power is the device that allows him to be such a great wizard and leader. We see that Harry models his own life after this. For example, he calls Voldemort by his real name and makes a valiant effort of overcoming his enemies and hardships. This is the correct path to take on a quest for power and perfection. At the end of Harry’s adventures, when the Sorcerer’s Stone has been safely destroyed, Dumbledore reveals to Harry that he devised the Mirror of Erised with the knowledge that Harry would succeed where Voldemort would fail. This admission raises the question of whether Dumbledore orchestrates other parts of Harry’s adventures too. Harry’s encounter with the Mirror of Erised symbolizes his growing self-awareness, as the magic mirror forces him to look within himself and face the question of what he really wants. This is something that Harry has never had to face
His family would belittle him and treat him awful. As the movie went on Harry met a boy named Ron. Ron and his family took Harry under their wing emotionally and were involved with his social life and schooling. Harry had a huge mentor in his life who was named Hagrid, who had a good connection to Dumbledore, who happened to be the principal of Hogwarts. Throughout the movie he developed these interactions slowly and it helped him grow in his microsystem. Therefore, Harry was able to get out of a tough spot in his life and continue to grow as a person and live his life fully.
The hero in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is a young boy named Harry who spent the first 11 years of his life living with his uncle Vernon, aunt Petunia and menacing cousin Dudley.
The narrative structure of a story is extremely important because it is the reason the reader feels attracted or not towards the story. J.K. Rowling, the author of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, narrated her story in a way that makes it easy to comprehend and maintains the reader attracted to it. Rowling included several types of events throughout the novel that makes the reader follow the story without getting lost in the middle of the story. The author introduces characters without getting the reader lost, makes the reader dislike certain characters due to their characteristics, and presents conflicts between good and evil.
Voldemort and Quirrell play the roles of Harry’s “external shadows [who] must be vanquished or destroyed by the hero” (Vogler 68). Although not yet officially designated the savior, Harry takes it upon himself to stop the most dangerous wizard in his world, and anyone else who threatens himself and his friends.
Harry Potter is a fictional character invented by J.K Rowling in the series of seven books starting with Harry Potter and the Philosopher 's Stone and ending with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Wikipedia, 2015). Harry is the main character in this series whose parents died when he was young and he was brought up by his aunt and uncle (Philosopher’s Stone, 1997, p.5). Harry was neglected by his aunt and uncle (Philosopher’s Stone, 1997, p.27). Harry is presented a whole new reality when he goes to the zoo one day and his integration into the magical world changes him from the foundation. These changes within him will be analysed using the developmental psychology theories of Lawrence Kohlberg and Erik Erikson to explain how the environment aided or obstructed Harry’s development.
Harry is enabled to become a more mature and wise person because he uses growing up as a time to find out who he truly is which helps to lead him down the right path to help complete his life’s

In the story, Harry reviews his life, realizing that he wasted his talent and ability through delay and in an unhappy marriage “ He destroyed his talent himself by not using it.” (Hemingway) All of Harry’s memories dealt with passing things he had experienced in a specific time in the past that he aimed to write about, but he never got the chance to do so because his life was being cut short. The author made Harry an existing character based on what he wished to feel once his life comes to the
“The unknown's what we fear when we look upon the darkness, nothing more” a quote by Albus Dumbledore reminds me of Harry Potter knowing that Voldemort's out and about and completely unaware about the capabilities of Voldemort. Voldemort’s very dangerous and Harry knows that and gets frightened when he learns more and more about Voldemort. Voldemort’s unsuccessful on his rise to power.
A hero can be defined as someone who places themself at great risk, while performing acts of courage. This definition can be related in the epic poem, Beowulf, and the novel, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer 's Stone. In each story, both leading characters are born destined to defeat the most evil creature in their world. Beowulf is the oldest surviving epic poem in the world. “Beowulf” was written in 1000 AD, in Old English form. In this poem the main character, Beowulf, challenges an evil monster, Grendel and a dragon, to a battle to save Denmark. 1,300 years later, in 1997, the novel Harry Potter and the Sorcerer 's Stone was published. Written by JK Rowling, Harry Potter became an instant success and was read by millions of people all over the world. In this novel, the main character, Harry Potter, is sent to Hogwarts Witchcraft and Wizardry. At Hogwarts, Harry realizes that it is his destiny to kill Lord Voldemort, the most evil creature in the wizard world. Even through culture change, Harry Potter and Beowulf can be compared. They can be compared because both heroes are destined to fight evil, lead a group of people, and save the innocent lives of others.
Harry becomes angry with his friends for not sharing information, and while they say that they were told by Dumbledore not to disclose anything, it does nothing to lessen the loneliness Harry has been feeling all summer, and the anger he feels at being kept out. Harry then goes on to learn how much larger his isolation is, and that it is not
By becoming self aware, Benjamin Franklin is able to look at what aspects make him who he is, and choose ones that he would like to be added to his description. Franklin was able to reflect on the way he used to think and act, then take his new knowledge to form a better version of himself. Benjamin Franklin says in his eleventh paragraph, “But, on the whole, though I never arrived at the perfection I had been so ambitious of obtaining but fell far short of it, yet I was, by the endeavour, a better and happier man than I otherwise should have been if I had not attempted it…” Not only does Benjamin Franklin achieve the satisfaction of knowing himself more in depth, but from that point he is able to reflect and see how it has changed him for the
Half-Blood Prince is easily one of the better books in the Harry Potter series, though each is a masterpiece. But the 6th installment of a 7-part series is bound to be full of great moments in the story. There remains a great deal unanswered in this book, however, and the 7th will surely need to be no smaller than an average encyclopedia. Somehow as I was reading this book, I felt that I was learning more and at a quicker rate than in Order of the Phoenix, but so many of Harry's problems and questions took so long to reach any sort of answer or resolution that I still ended up not knowing many of the secrets I expected to be revealed in this book. It must be that Rowling, in her grand scheme, is saving much for the last book. One thing seems
