Love is a very important thing in life. By definition, it is an intense feeling of deep affection. I have a story in my life that I recall and that relates to love. I met a girl that changed my life in every way imaginable. I love her and she loves me. I have never felt so happy and vivacious in my life. She fills me with happiness with each glance. I fell in love from the very first sight of her. Every day with her is a new adventure. Love can sometimes be described as that feeling that makes you feel unexplainable. That is what she does to me. I cannot describe how I feel about her, it is too much of a challenge. The way she makes me feel is so hard to describe. We do everything together, and I enjoy every single second I get to spend with her. She has changed my life in various ways. She has made me a better person. She has changed some of my outlooks on life. She has made me understand the master plan of life itself. …show more content…
By textbook definition failure is a lack of success. Every one has failed once in their life sometime or another. We all know failure because it is a part of life. The harsh truth is no one is perfect, so in turn we will make mistakes. I have a particular story of failure. I was about 10 years old and I was a baseball player. I was quite good, and I played positions such as second base, third base, and outfield. I was an overall well rounded player. I could catch and throw perfectly, but there was one area of the sport where I lacked skill. I could hit, but I was petrified every time I stepped up to the plate. I had a fear of being hit, so each and every time the ball was pitched to me I would jump out of the way of the ball. It was one the most embarrassing things I have experienced in my life. I failed my team and my dad. My dad tried countless times to work with me on my fear, but I could never seem to get over it. I quit baseball as a result, but it no longer held my interest
Failure is an important part of life because when you fail you can turn it into a success.
Failing means to be unsuccessful in achieving a specific goal, however if your goal is to fail have you succeeded? Failing a class is not always the best way to go, but if you ever wonder how to fail there are plenty of things you might want to do. Failing isn’t always easy, but it’s not too hard either.
When I look at the word failure I didn’t see success. But that slowly changed as I read the book What the Best College Students Do by Ken Bain Chapter four. Bain, for me and I’m sure many other, have changed our view point on failure being a bad thing. He instead expressed failure as an “opportunity to learn something.” (121) As infants we grow and develop, we learn to walk by falling down a couple hundred times, and we learn to speak by babbling. By trying to walk, and trying to talk, we may fail at first. As an infant, you cannot give up when you are face to face with failure. You must get up and try again to learn. In the book, What the Best College Students Do by Ken Bain he uses people’s experiences and research to explain why failure is an opportunity to learn something new, rather than seeing failure as something bad. He asserts “people who become highly creative and productive learn to acknowledge failures, even to embrace them, and to explore and learn from them.” (100) Failure is important. If we did not get up and try again as infants, we would not be where we are today.
Failure is something that all people encounter in their lives. In some situations failure can break a person or make a person, meaning a person can fail at something and just simply give up. Others will fail and that failure can give them the inspiration to try harder to one day achieve their goal. I'm the type of person to fail and work harder until I am content. As my championship baseball coach would say "What’s our motto? Never give up!"
What is failure? According to Webster dictionary, failure is “ lack of success”. What exactly is success? Success is “ the correct or desired result of an attempt”, according to Webster dictionary. Typically, people may fail before they ever succeed. In Gender Failure by Ivan Coyote and Rae Spoon, Spoon felt that they succeeded at failing. Spoon currently refers themself as “gendered retired”; therefore, they refuse to identify themself within the gender binary (285). As well as, Spoon wishes to be referred as “they”, rather than, he or she. However, Spoon went through various identities until they accepted their “retirement”. At fourteen years old, Spoon thought they experienced “God failure”. Spoon felt that they were failing God considering
People experience failure on a regular basis. While failure is often viewed as a negative experience, failure also has the potential to teach us many important lessons. A memorable time I experienced failure was when I was cut from the baseball team my sophomore year. Baseball has been important to me throughout my life. I have always enjoyed playing, watching, and talking about baseball.
Failure, noun an act or instance of failing or proving unsuccessful; lack of success. Santiago did indeed fail for several weeks or months. People who say that he failed are not wrong. He could not catch one single fish for a very long time and he did not quit so he didn’t totally fail he just couldn’t catch any fish for a long time. He did fail for a short amount of time but he did succeed in the end. Failing for Santiago was not an option. He caught that huge fish not for everyone else but he caught it just so he knew he could succeed
Failure is a missed opportunity, poor test grade, or missing the game-winning goal. Depending on its scale, certain failures can cause one individual to cry and another to shake it off. In school, one individual's failure is another one's success. I experience failure like this but at a different scale because to me, failure is more than disappointing my parents or teachers. I feel like I am defined by that failure, and that it will never vanish. This particular failure defines me and will stay with me throughout my school years.
Failure, by definition, is lack of success (dictionary.com). When one fails at something, they can still achieve something they wanted, but still fail in the overall ending. Failure essentially means things don’t go as planned. You can achieve smaller goals along the way to your main goal, but if your main goal doesn’t happen, then it is still a failure. The stories A&P and A Tell Tale Heart show 2 different types of failure with their main
Failure is something most people have experienced. We are all human beings. Being human, we are exposed to experiencing failure. Failure is able to make a person stronger than they had been.
To me, failure is when I do not meet my own expectations. Over the summer, I thought that I would get the opportunity to compete level 9 gymnastics this competition season. I knew what skills I needed to make this team and had set clear expectations of what I needed to do to achieve this goal. I fell short and didn’t make the team. For a long period of time, I was crushed.
Is a failure still a failure if you learn from it? The answer is yes, but it is a successful failure because you learned from it. Failure is possibly the best way to learn, such as the time I got thrown out of basketball practice freshman year. I got in a futile argument(i just made a comment) with my coach over what position he wanted me to play versus what position I thought I should play. I ended up getting thrown out of practice and had to call my mom to come pick me up while I started walking down the road. I was devastated because I couldn’t understand what I had done wrong because it seemed so minor.
Failure is something that we cannot go through life without experiencing. The best thing about failure is that failure can be used as a great learning experience to improve upon things in our lives and career. Using failure as a learning tool is dependent upon the person and how they view it as well as how they use it. Failure is a matter of perspective and the lessons in failure are important aspects towards growth and development. If we did not experience failure there wouldn’t be opportunities for learning. Failure can teach us about ourselves as well as provide an understanding for our
Love is also defined in the dictionary as "strong affection," "warm attachment," and "unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for others" (439). All of these definitions are completely correct, but the dictionary does not explain how it feels to love someone. The reason that an explanation for this feeling is not found in the dictionary may be because love is so different for each individual person. In my experience, "strong affection" does not even begin to cover the sensation and emotions a person feels when he or she is in love. Love is compared to "the extraordinary sun / splashing its light / into astonished trees" in Denise Levertov's "Love Poem" (2-4). Like the sun, love is great and bright and fills a person with extreme joy. Love is greater than anything else a person could ever experience. A lover can even be better than a summer's day, as the speaker in Shakespeare's poem suggests. He compares his lover to a summer's day by saying that she is "more
Traditionally, failure is seen as a negative concept and is defined as lacking success. I, on the other hand, try to put a positive spin on everything in life. I see failure as an obstacle that is experienced by all, but it does not define an individual. Failure in essence will force an individual to be more receptive to their surroundings and actions and also will force an individual to mature. Looking back on my childhood years I can now pinpoint the areas where I failed and I can confidently say that I have grown and prospered due to those failures. The three major failures I have experienced were my attention deficit issues which affected my ability to succeed in school, my anti-social habit that I let consume my early years, and my
