Imagine the world with a lower unemployment rate and higher salaries where people don’t have to be homeless and aren’t limited in the job environment. This is the world in which people value having a college education. I believe that having a college education is very important. My parents have always urged me to get a college education because they did not have one, and because of that they didn’t do too well in the finance department for a good while of their lives. I feel college is important for these three reasons: 1. Having a college education gives people a head start in finding a suitable career. 2 It trains people in what they are passionate about; whether that’s art, math, psychology, film, band, or something else, the college …show more content…

In the presentation “Why Go?” greater wealth was given as one of the benefits of a college education. The article Education Still Pays from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), claims that workers with more education have lower unemployment and higher earnings than workers with less education. “Unemployment Rates and Earnings For Full-time Wage and Salary Workers Ages 25 and Older, by Educational Attainment, 2013” is a chart from the BLS Current Population Survey ( www.bls.gov/CPS ) that shows supporting data. For example, a person with a professional degree makes $1,063.00 more a week than someone with a high school diploma. I feel that his actions during the speech were very noble and I revere him for doing so. At one point in his speech he made mention of instances in his life where he was struggling to maintain a good education “ … My mother, she didn’t have enough money to send me where all the American kids when to school … So she decided to teach me extra lessons herself” (paragraph 2). I related to that statement because my grandmother did not have a lot of money to get a great education when she was little. He also touched on the subject that your education is in Your own hands, “But at the end of they day, we can have the world’s most dedicated teachers, the most supportive parents, the world’s best schools and none of it would matter … (unless you) put in the hard work it takes to succeed” (paragraph 6). This really opens the eyes of the reader to how much their participation matters in the situation of education and just how important it is. Near the end of his speech, he gives the crowd a reassurance that they’ll make it through even the hard times in their education, “Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. I do that every day. … It’s a sign of strength because it shows you have the courage to admit when you don’t know something-”. Which really inspired me and made me feel very motivational for his kind
