Stepping out onto the beach one early morning I could hear the waves softly crash along the shore. Numerous birds nesting in the palm trees began to stir, and sing out early morning greetings. Although the sun had not yet come up, the beach was alive with surfers, like myself, preparing to some catch some waves. It was Christmas Eve, although at this Hawaiian beach it was a balmy seventy five degrees. I took in a deep breath, allowing the salty air laced with a smell of tropical flowers to fill my lungs. Wading out into the cool water, I hoped onto my board and paddled out farther from the shore to wait for the next big set of waves to come in. By this time, the sky had lightened up to a pale blue, but yet still streaked with the blackness
Waimanalo is way out away from Waikeke its ttruly excellent, however thereare others ones as well.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is known for their six wondrous active and non-active volcanoes, Mahukona, Kilauea, Mauna Loa, Mauna Kea, Hualalai and Kohala. Mahukona is actually the first volcano that started building the Big Island of Hawaii, but has been inactive for 350,000 years. Kilauea is the youngest and the most popular active volcano on the Big Island, it has been continuously erupting since 1983 and it is the best and the most reliable active volcano to see in the world. Since 1952 there has been 36 different eruptions from the Kilauea volcano, and 90% of its surface is still less than 1000 years old. Mauna Loa is the largest active volcano on earth, it is as big as 56,000 ft. above its base. The Mauna Loa has erupted 150 times in
Oahu is home to the majority of Hawaii's population for a reason. From the crystalline waters of Kailua Beach to the legendary North Shore, Oahu offers something for everyone. Whether you want to hike to the top of Diamond Head or wander small towns like Haleiwa, Oahu is one of the top destinations in the Hawaiian Islands. For history lovers, Pearl Harbor and Iolani Palace are top tourist sites. Meanwhile, top shops and boutiques can be found within Honolulu.
The waters of Bora Bora were a translucent blue, where you can observe all the unique creatures and fish. I was approached by a young, sunkissed, indigenous man from Bora Bora who provided me with a tropical beverage and escorted me to my resort. The island’s resorts sat upon the turquoise waters. Once I reached my room, I changed into my bathing suit and vaulted off my deck into the water. While I was in the water, a handsome young man drifted in a boat alongside of me. He lowered his arm down and conveyed me onto the boat beside him. He guided me to the other side of the island where we swam with dolphins and scuba dived. As the waves were swaying me from side to side, I couldn’t envision a more superior day.
I was six years old when I first saw the ocean on the beaches of Laiya. My family invited me to spontaneous trip to the beach and having never been there before, I joyously accepted. I would never forget the feelings evoked after experiencing the silky smooth sand on my feet and witnessing the water gleaming with light reflected by the radiating sun. Swimming in the water was more mesmerizing as it filled my field of vision with endless colors. The coral reef with the colors of blue, yellow, purple, and pink covered the sea floor along with algae and seaweed. There were also numerous amounts of dark colored fish swimming beneath my feet that balanced the light tones of the coral reef. Streaks of sunlight illuminated them as the water made the plants sway along with the fish. All moving in unison to the subtle movements of water; creating one body, a living entity. I attempted to move in unison with the water and at that moment is when I felt like I belonged there. And leaving was similar to parting home.
If I had a plane ticket to go anywhere in the world i would enjoy going to Maui, Hawaii. Maui is an island in Hawaii and in my opinion it has one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The water looks crystal clear, that makes the beach look more glamorous. The sand on the beaches come in different colors white, black, and red. It also has plenty of restaurants with delicious food. Maui is one of the epicenters of Hawaiian Regional cuisine, and its chefs are constantly pushing the boundaries on innovative culinary trends.
I felt the sun scorching my neck as I paddled away from the beach. The sky was bluer than blue topaz, the ocean was warm and wet. The aromatic ocean air drifted to my nose. I noticed that I seemed to be slower than dad and our instructor. Instantly, I started to paddle faster. I looked at the ocean, its majestic beauty that seemed to be hidden until I experienced the ocean for myself.
Take a second to close your eyes and envision yourself on a beach in the Caribbean islands. You are laying on the sand, a soft white powder that heats your body on contact. You hear the repeating rhythm of the majestically moving waves as they collide with the shore. The brisk smell of ocean air and the pulsing warmth of the sun wraps you in its arms like a mother swaddling her newborn. Now open your eyes and realize how at peace you are; Nature can bring you enlightenment, it can also be considered a religion or an oath to live by. We encounter nature in our everyday life. The cotton we wear, the food and water we consume, and the materials of our daily routine all originate from the earth. We cannot survive in our world without nature looking over us, providing us and influencing our habits. Although people say we are apart from nature, we are, in fact one with nature because we feel its presence in more ways than one.
It was another blazing day down at Hampton Beach with many of my friends and family, where I sat gazing blankly at the restless water as kids shrieked and adults dozed. The day was moving quite quickly and it was already the middle of another hectic afternoon full of tourists. I had noticed a bit earlier that many of my friends had ventured into the ocean water to cool off, but it was like my body had began to become one with the sand. After scurrying around the beach for most of the morning, I was excited for a nap and an opportunity to just escape from things for a little bit. Almost two hours later, I awoke on the beach all alone. I didn’t have any clue what was going on. As far as I remembered, no had told me they were strolling back to the beach house for the day. Even though I was a bit dazed and
Today, Hawaii is a popular travel destination in America. There are a total of 132 islands and only 8 islands have societies living on them. The other 124 islets are too small for humans to live. The eight main islands are Hawaii, Maui, Kahoolawe, Lanai, Molokai, Oahu, Kauai, and Niihau per Oachs (2014). The Polynesians from the Marquesas Islands, looking for new land, were the first to settle on the Hawaiian Islands bringing new species of animals, plants and vegetables (Oachs, 2014). The population of Tahiti started to migrate to the islands between 500-1400 A.D. From 1400-1778, Hawaiians had no contact with the outside world, because they had no contact their culture thrived. In 1778 Capitan James Cook rediscovered the island and named them
Visiting Hawaii is a great thing in itself, but since my Dad lives there that makes things even better. I got a more personal and less touristy touch to getting familiar and enjoying Maui. This is my second time going to the incomparable island of Maui. While the first time was magnificent, this time was a different. This trip taught me details I didn’t learn, see, and do last time.
Imagine you are sitting on a wooden rocking chair on a balcony overlooking a pristine body of water, slowly swaying back and forth. In the distance, you can see trees border the other shoreline and a small island placed haphazardly in the center of the water. Looking up, the sky is painted with the richest shades of yellow and pink as the sun slowly drifts towards the horizon. You can hear Canadian geese honking as they hunker down for the night and in the background the never-ending flow of water as it heads
His fingers slowly brush through the water as he turns his board to face the shore. He looks back across the rolling blue and white surf to the bleached sand, and beyond to the dense green trees, where he can just make out the pale red shape of his wagon. He shakes the water and salt from his shaggy beach-blonde hair. The short cropped school-boy style he used to have has given way to surfy windswept locks that come with the relaxed, freedom loving lifestyle he has chosen. He sits there day dreaming for a while, taking in the peaceful sounds of the waves crashing on the white sand. He scans the beach. To the left there is a reef, beautiful and serene but deadly to surfers who ride the wave too long. He has never made the mistake of being caught out but always fears that one day he
Once upon a time, a family of five, a mother, father, and triplets, decided to take a vacation by going to Honolulu, Hawaii to stay in a deluxe hotel. The three boys’ names were Big Timmy, Little Timmy, and Timmy. Everyone was very excited to go ride waves, eat food, and sleep a lot. The flight attendant has just called everyone to board the plane. The three boys and their parents rushed to the front of the line so they could get the best seats. Two hours before landing, the clouds became grey and it started to rain lightly. “ Attention passengers, we will be landing in Brooklyn, New York due to extreme weather conditions.”, announced the co-pilot.
The bright blue skin guard was baggy on my average framed body. I wiggled my toes in the damp water shoes wishing that I could stay barefoot and wiggle them in the soft white sand. The instructor, Joseph, was teaching my dad, Daniel-a man we had met that day while getting ready for our lesson-and me how to surf the waves of Oahu. Joseph handed me a long board with a beautiful blue hibiscus on the back of the board. The three of us sat in the warm sand listening to Joseph explain how to get into proper form when catching a wave. Although words were coming out of his mouth, I was captivated by the water and ignoring the lesson which is probably important. Eventually we start doing drills on the sand on the steps to catch a wave and this time my attention is on
